its a money issue too. hosting state visits is expensive and due to the ongoing economic crisis the government may have decided to cut back on representative events. with over 20% of unemployment its a bit out of place to have lots of happenings where the SRF are sporting their state jewels.

Ok I see. Thanks for your answers. The question just came to my mind when I was looking through the threads and recognized there wasn't a SV this year. Some monarchies (like example Norway) usually have a regular number of SVs in the year.(E.g. in Norway it is usually it is 2 incoming and 2 outgoing SVs. I thought it was similar in Spain. Now I see it isn't). ;)

According to Almudena Martínez Fornes, journalists specialist in the Royal House of the newspaper ABC, the Royal Family will be present at a mass in the chapel of the Royal Palace in memory of the Countess of Barcelona, mother of the King, on December 23, 100th anniversary of her birth.

The Chapel Royal at the Palacio Real de Madrid ?

its s real special event? it seems like it is, since its 100th anniversary of the king's mother.
but i wonder if leonor and sofia will be there, its a special event and they are not babies anymore to stay at home.:)

Looking forward to the Anniversary Mass & a lovely setting for it!

Like what occasions? Royal events or/& public?

Really in the last years the occasions have been few, only it is used in exceptional occasions. The funeral chapels of the Count and the Countess of Barcelona were celebrated in the chapel, also the mass on the occasion of the first anversary of the death of the count. And a family mass in the 25 Anniversary of the arrival of the King to the Throne.

We must wait for more information about the act, if it will be definitively in this chapel and if the press will have access.

That link states that the Mass will take place at the Chapel of the El Pardo Palace & not the Royal Palace of Madrid ?

From what I've seen that site it's not very reliable. They love writing how close sources to Zarzuela have confirmed their most fantastical stories and most of them never happen. This time they tried to save face publishing a new article the day the RF officially announced the mass at the Royal Palace. In this new article they wrote how the RF changed palaces at the last time
But as Lula posted, long before it was officially announced, other news sites were correctly reporting it would take place at the Chapel of the Royal Palace. :whistling:

I'm hoping to see most members of the extended Spanish Royal Family at tomorrow's Mass .

It's quite rare to see them all together .

I wonder if the Infanta Alicia will be present, her late husband was a half brother of the King's Mother .

Love the family go out together, the spanish kids are so adorable.

Leonor & Sofia looked really cute & it's lovely that we do get to see them interacting with their parents, cousins & the family. Elena looked lovely & nice to see Christina & the children back for the holidays. Thank you for all the pictures

The girls are there too, that is the best Christmas gift (I mean from the royalty world). They are so cute in their grey dresses :flowers: The other grandchildren are cute too, of course.
Thanks for the pictures, lula. Hope to see more.
