The Cathedral of La Almudena has welcomed a memorial for Pope John Paul II, celebrated by the cardinal of Madrid, Antonio Maria Rouco Varela. The ceremony, organized by the archdiocese of Madrid and the Episcopal Conference, has taken place in front of the Madrilenian Cathedral.
In addition to Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofia and the president of the Government, Zapatero, there were also the Princes of Asturias and the Duke of Lugo, among other personalities.

Thanks for these pictures Anna.
I just wanted to know why Jamie was present but Elena was not? I know that Cristina and Inaki attended one similar service on Sunday, explaining their absence. But Elena was at neither service.

You're welcome!
I don't know either. I even went to the Casa Real's website to see if se=he had any other engagement, but there was nothing. Maybe she wasn't feeling well....

Yes, they said on TV she didn't go, because she was slightly ill.

I think QS's heels are slightly taller, but I may be wrong.

Today, KJC and QS, along with the Princes of Asturias, will offer a lunch at the Royal Palace, on the occasion of the ceremony for the Cervantes Prize.

KJC and QS, along with the Princes of Asturias, met today the president of the Government, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, among other personalities, before the lunch offered to an ample representation of writers. This lunch occurs one day before the ceremony of the Cervantes Prize, this year given to the Rafael Sanchez Ferlosio.
