Since this is a forum for being open and candid about our thoughts, I must say Felipe doesn't look too bright. In fact he looks well, less than that................if you catch my drift. Infanta Cristina looks smart though. She should be next in line for queen.
Then there's the problem of Felipe's stupid choice of a wind up doll for a spouse. Sorry, but Letizia is just perfect acting and boring through and through.
Felipe doesn't look too bright .... Letizia is just perfect acting
as I see it, the ideal royal is like Haakon's Dad :
a. silly grin that is amused at all, and in doing so appeals to the masses (as it does to me),
b. not too smart (besides the government does the thinking and tells you what to say)
c. a clothes-horse (promotes the nation's fashion-trade). The only place where (some) individuality is allowed.
d. into sailing (that way you can drink off-shore in a tax-free haven).
e. a family man (in the quaintest sense of the word).
The wife is like Queen Sonia
f. into art of all sorts
g. a clothes-horse
h. no brains needed because that is the husband's role (to put the foot in the mouth).
i. adds substance to the magic (like it has always been through time).

Hmmph.............blowing steam at King Christian. As far as I'm concerned, and I'm an expert in such matters, the Norwegian royals can each and every one walk on water. If you dare again to say anything flippant about them, you must first clear it through me. B)

I guess some members might be offended by your remarks, zhontella. But, you are entitled to your opinion just as they are entitled to their's.

Julia, I don't see what you are offended about ...... if anything, there is through your involvement of submitting such comments, a certain acknowledgement that (for you) "all royals walk on water". And thus, a hidden agenda becomes a public agenda that others conform their beliefs to your's.
Never the less, it is nice to see you sticking up for the royals. :) Please accept my compliment in that regard.
And on the other hand, Julia, didn't you see that Zhontella defended the RF of Norway against (what she considered) an unfair attack from me ?
I mean, I read all comments with a 'tongue on cheek' humour ... I make an acceptance for different languages and different cultures resulting in a commentary that is different to mine. And that is why I read at this forum - is to
a. have fun and
b. to learn.

I think to some degree we all think that royals walk on water, it is just a matter of which royals or which families for each LTR member. Some members like the Spanish royals, some don't. It's just a matter of interests and preferences.
29 JANUARY 2004
Crown Prince Felipe's fiancée, Letizia Ortiz, seemed to be getting on swimmingly with her future mother-in-law during a night out in Madrid.
The former newsreader was accompanied by her husband-to-be and Queen Sofia when she stepped out for a new production of Tosca. The three were pictured smiling and laughing together as they arrived for the performance in the city's Royal Opera House.
Letizia, who used to present the main evening news programme on Spanish television, has become something of a national obsession since her engagement to the future king was announced. Already "Letty" confectionery has filled the shelves of Spanish shops and the 31-year-old's every movement is eagerly followed by the press.
The anticipation will reach its climax on May 22, when the happy couple make their vows in Madrid's spectacular Almudena Cathedral. By coincidence Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik will also marry his betrothed, Australian Mary Donaldson, just a few days earlier in Copenhagen. There will be more festivities for the Spanish couple as the celebrate Felipe's 36th birthday on Friday.

The Spanish royals have been indulging in some friendly competition at the Queen's Cup boat race in Valencia. King Juan Carlos was photographed helping out aboard the Prada, which belongs to the fashion label of the same name, before setting sail with his own crew on the El Bribon.
His son, Crown Prince Felipe, was meanwhile pitching in on the CAM, which romped home in second place. The bearded royal received a warm embrace from his wife when he arrived back on dry land. Princess Letizia, who spent the afternoon in Valencia Yacht Club with her mother-in-law Queen Sofia, was clearly delighted at her husband's success.
And there quite a few other royal visitors taking part in the event. Princess Cristina, together with her cousin Alexia of Greece, was backing the Azur de Puig while King Harald of Norway took charge of the Fram XV.
The King and Queen of Sweden were also enjoying some nautical R&R, albeit of a less competitive variety. While the Spanish and Norwegian royals were battling it out in the waters off Valencia, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were relaxing on a motorboat off the coast of St Tropez.

Hey! Cristina looks great in that pictures! I love what she is wearing!
I have another pic from that event in Palma de Mallorca: http://www.hola.com/imagenes/actuali...08/31/cena.jpg
;-)
Somebody knows where are Elena and Jaime?? I believe that they went to that dinner last summers...

I'd just like to know what you think about this:
In my opinion Infanta Elena looks almost exactly like Queen Sofia, whereas Infanta Cristina takes after father; and Crown Prince Felipe...that's difficult but I'd say the shape of his face reveals a strong resemblance with his mother.
I wonder why is it so that in many cases the younger sister is more beautiful than the elder.
I've also noticed that Elena looks like her mother, although if you see pictures of Sofia when she was about 40 she looks much better then Elena looks now. And Cristina is (in my opinion) the better looking sister.
The Spanish royal family seem to be very supportive of their athletes and athletic themselves. All of the members of the royal family were at the Olympics at some time or other. I think Sofia, Cristina, Inaki and Pilar were the only ones there the entire two weeks. Then the Queen and Elena were back for the Paralympics. During the summer the family is always out sailing and participating in regatas. Cristina and her family are often at handball games and Elena often participates in equestrian events.
