Well, diverting a little from the "Flag Day", Manuel Petergaz, the designer of Letizia's wedding dress, is going to have an exhibition of his creations and, amongst them is the first "draft" of Letizia's wedding dress.

Spanish Royal Family at the Cruz Roja day. Queen Sofia and Princess Letizia were in a table and Prince Felipe was giving money for Cruz Roja. Also Princess Elena was in another table.

Thank you both micas and Anna R for all the pictures -- not boring in the least! I, and I'm sure many other members appreciate your picture posting.

The Queen and Letizia look very close and chummy in these pictures; they seem to genuinely enjoy each other's company and friendship. It's nice to see that Letizia has such support from her mother-in-law who knows first hand about the challenges of being a future Queen and what it means to be a royal in Spain.

Speaking of "being close and chummy", I put together a few pictures of Queen Sophia and Princess Letizia. You only have to look at the pictures to see what an excellent relationship this mother-in-law-daughter-in-law duo share. Warmth and respect for each other is clearly evident. I am sure according to Queen Sofia (as are my sentiments), Prince Felipe couldn't have chosen a better life partner.
P.S. She is equally close to her father-in-law...

This may be a silly question, but it is brought on by my Spanish friend telling me that she doesn't know if the Queen's Spanish is good or not because she never gives public speeches. Also I know the Queen speaks English with her kids...so do you think she uses Spanish or English with Letizia? I'm just curious, so if anyone has any insight I would love to hear it!

I heard a speech once and her Spanish is quite good. I would imagine she speaks Spanish with Letizia. Of course this is speculation on my part. She's been in Spain for over 40 years. I would imagine she speaks Spanish well.

That's what I think too! I never heard a speech, but at least she knows some Spanish, because I've seen pictures of her talking with other people, so...
Now, I don't know how good her spanish is!

I have listened the Queen speaking Spanish a few times. The last time was in the Olympic Games, in Athens. Her Spanish of course is quite good, but, when she speaks, it's evident that she isn't Spanish because of her accent.
And I also suppose that she speaks in Spanish with Letizia. By the way, I didn't know that she speaks English with her daughters and her son, I thought that she speaks in Spanish with them....

sofia doesn't really have a foreign accent when talking spanish. in fact, i think her spanish is really good, although she is from greece. no greek accent at all.

Well, we did see her "alone" (well, with Queen Sophia) at the Red Cross "banderitas" day, in Madrid, but that's it.
Now, for really solo engagements, I think we'll have to wait until about a year after the wedding, so we should see her alone about spring/summer 2005. I can't wait!

You are correct, Ennyllorac, she did the movie early in her life, it was called "La mirada del angel" meaning "view of an angel", a 1988 film directed by Norbeto Lopez Amado.
