thank you for the pictures. felipe doesnt look so good. could little sofia be keeping him up at night?:ermm: anyways, he seems more alert when Letizia is around him, dont you think?

It's my impression too. The Prince look tired and it's seem obvious that since the begining of the year with his America Latina's trips, the lots of events done in solitary, the too hard drama of Letizia, the too great pleasure of the Sofia's birth, the politic and social situation of Spain, all this factors of tiring, joy, sadness, preoccupations are a difficult landscape. If you add that the Princess is not beside him to share the weight of this duties you can have the explanation of the tiring of Princes.... and may be the baby girl Sofia isn't so quiet as Leonor.

Spain's Crown Prince Felipe (L) holds a T- shirt with his youngest daughter's (Sofia) name on it, while the Chairman of the Organisation Committee of the EuroBasket 2007, Jose Luis Saez (R), holds the other T-shirt for the Prince's eldest daughter, Leonor, during their meeting in Madrid, Spain, on 01 June 2007. Eurobasket 2007 will be played in different Spanish cities from 03 to 17 September 2007.

The little basketball jerseys are very cute, but I don't know why they gave Leonor and Sofia the same number.

Maybe 07 for 2007?:ermm:

Probably because it is a symbolic gesture and not exactly a baby-must-wear-this-shirt-tomorrow gift ;). And can you imagine how small a t-shirt would have to be for Sofia?!

This is more about Letizia but it's an anecdote related to the Luis Carandell Prize...

In the speech of one of the awardees, Gonzalo López Alba (a political feature writer of ABC), he asked the Prince of Asturias to relay to Doña Letizia the desire of the majority of journalists for the Princess to honor them by being the patron of their profession. To this, Don Felipe responded informally (to a small group he was with during the break) that he'll definitely inform the Princess about the request.

Would be a great opportunity for her. So hopefully we'll see her in charge with Felipe as consort :flowers:

I sure would not mind seeing her in charge especially in journalism related events. It will be nice if she'll finally give in to the request of former colleagues; but maybe not in all. Looking at the bigger picture, Felipe also needs to connect with the media and these awards are good venues.

Between the 2 of them, Letizia has already won many journalists over for having been one of them; but Felipe is another story and he is the one whose credibility as future head of state will always be weighed -- I don't think any of us here judges the leaders of our respective countries based on the performance of their spouses.

Anyway, I'd be happy with a compromise wherein they'll alternate in chairing events where they are both present ;)

Thanks too. The pics are very intersting, at each time we can how is erious this ceremony. I find this year the Prince more serious than by the past ( at least for the three ceremonies that I saw since his wedding ) May be the fact that Letizia is not beside him but more the political context of Spain this last days.

An interesting article, to part of the bad nights that seems to give Sofia:lol: , in the political thing is an important article. Last May 27 there were autonomic elections in Spain, and in any Autonomous Communities like Navarre the politicians still have not come to agreements to govern. The Prince was received by the President of the Autonomous Community until there is formed the new one that belongs to the PP (conservative) , and in this article comments the conversation of the Prince with two politicians of groups opposite to the first one and that now they can enter the government, IU (communist) and Nafarroa Bai (independence Navarrese),both of ideology opposite to the Monarchy. A really complicated panorama.

DiariodeNavarra.es -Leyre, centro de la política navarra

Leyre, center of the of Navarre politics

All the political forces were in Leyre. Not even Zabaleta was absent. The PSN continued without revealing favorite agreement.

(...)
This year, Leyre's act has coincided with a political uncertain moment. The Navarrese ones do not know still the one who is going to govern them.
(...)

The Prince wanted to speak with the different representatives of the parties attendees to the act. It yes, omitting the political topics in the conversations.

The Prince, Zabaleta and Erro

A member of the Royal House approached the leader of IU Ion Erro, and to the members of Nafarroa Bai, Zabaleta and Telletxea, to report to them that don Felipe wanted to greet them. The three accompanied and waited for him a few minutes which the Prince was approaching. Miguel Sanz realized the corresponding presentations. Don Felipe greeted them cordial with a hand squeeze, so much to Telletxea placed to his side, since to Erro and to Zabaleta. A brief and distended conversation began between them, to which there added, between others, the delegate of the Government, Vicente Ripa. One saw them to smile at all in more than one occasion.

Persons who were nearby told how don Felipe surprised to Erro on having said to him that he knew that, as him, he had two daughters. The Prince told that for the first time they could have slept one night five followed hours. The topic of conversation in the peculiar group was at the time the conciliation of the labour and family life. Also they spoke even about Angelita Alfaro, famous for giving her "alpargatas".

That would be great for Letizia being the patron for journalists esp. bec it's her profession before she married Felipe. I'm sure she'll contribute a lot if she became the patron.:)
