THE TIME RUNS AND THE HISTORY ALSO
The photography of Gregorio Peces Barba, then president of Cortes, taking oath to Prince de Asturias is one of the classic images of our recent constitutional history. Still we kept in the Congress leaves from the platform and some utensils that were used in the ceremony of that extraordinary session of General Cortes. Don Felipe was hardly 18 years old, he arrived at most of age, and it had as it demands the Constitution to take oath to perform his functions faithfully, to keep and to make keep the Constitution and the laws and to respect the rights of the citizens and the Communities, as well as of fidelity to the King.
Without a doubt it was an oath of a great importance for the Heir of Corona and in addition that was made General Cortes before, like depositarias representatives of the Spanish town and to the national sovereignty. For the own Constitution it was a success more: the Institutions of the State worked fulfilling each one their paper. 20 years have passed. The time runs and many things have happened since then. The Spanish society has been developed extraordinarily.(...)
History also runs. Don Felipe no longer is a boy attending like witness the signature of the Constitution of 1978 by the King; he is not the young Prince either swearing the observance to the Constitution and the laws in the presence of Deputies and Senators. He is a person who has matured, he has a great intellectual and political formation, and is enjoying his family and his recent paternity.
As it said to president Peces Barba the 30 of January of 1986 going to general Cortes: "Today, with the glance put in the horizon, it is a day of hope".
The hope has been taken shape with time. This is good for all.

Everything the Princes of Asturias do is under the spotlights and that makes everything oversized: the good, the bad and even the anodyne things.
Doña Letizia returns to work this Tuesday and, logically, she has a much easier life than many mothers, not to say almost all the working mothers; but it is necessary to recognize that, although she has a privileged life, she does not have the privilege of living it privately.
For that reason, it’s comprehensible that, when there is something to celebrate, La Zarzuela closes its doors.

It's good to know that Spain also counts on good professionals to cover the acts related to the Royal House... not only the Peñafiels of life...
Thanks for the article, LaChicaMadrileña!

Yes Elsa, there are very good professionals who go years or decades accompanying the Royal Family, and that do responsibly their work. Now the paparazzi and Peñafiel insult them calling them "courtiers", when what they do it is to do a serious and worthy work covering the information of the Headquarters of the State.
Their work centres on the acts to which the Royal Family comes, in the official trips, in the official receipts ... and not in gossips.
These professionals are very troublesome for the interference that the "pink" press is doing in their work.

You're welcome Elsa! It's great that there are still professional journalists writing about royal family. The only question is which of them, the serious ones or from "pink press" are more popular among public opinion...

Felipe turns years in private
Since it orders the tradition, the birthday of the prince Felipe will have a private celebration. But in this case, when the inheritor extinguishes the candles of his cake of anniversary, there will be one more member in palace. Felipe turns today 38 years as father of a girl of almost three months, and the infanta Leonor will dispute to her father the protagonism of the party. One day later, Letizia will return to the official activity, which she left little before giving to light, and will accompany Felipe during a visit to Barcelona.
With the anniversary of the Prince they are fulfilled also 20 years of his oath of the Spanish Constitution. After that official act celebrated in the Congress of the Deputies on January 30, 1986, he continued with his career education up to consolidating his institutional role.
Felipe came on Saturday to Madrid after realizing a trip of one week for Latin America. There the Prince visited Bolivia, where he was present at the investiture of the president Evo Morales, El Salvador and Honduras, where he greeted the president, Manuel Zelaya.

Today, Don Felipe turns 38 years old and, according to the Royal House, he will celebrate it "privately". Whether in the privacy of his residence, the Palace of La Zarzuela, or in some other place, his first birthday as father will certainly be celebrated among his beloved family: his wife, Princess Letizia, and his little daughter, Infanta Leonor. Along with them, he will certainly blow the candles and make a discreet and intimate toast for reaching the dream of seeing his family grew.
Without any doubt, this has been the most special anniversary of the Prince, as father and also as the heir to the throne, since this Monday also twenty years have passed since Felipe de Borbón took the oath of loyalty to the Constitution and the King, thus taking on his full institutional role as heir to the Throne.
