That's because the King confirmed the attendance himself, so the Prince wouldn't go.

Its become more or less the norm with Letizia over the past few years, she rarely makes the effort,me thinks she should just stay at home if she can't be bothered

Don't understand what you meant. Since you like to talk about clothes, Letizia has always been one of the best dressed royal guests at the various weddings IMO.

Clothes wise, I agree she could make more efforts. Other than clothes, it's 100% effort. She has always been interested at the subjects and people, her speech is undoubtedly the best, even her Catalan pronunciation is better than her hubby and in-laws, I don't think she knew Catalan before she married Felipe.

Really? She couldn't look more bored at this ceremony. There is no excuse and should be no defending her appearance today.

I find Felipe & Letizia one of the most boring European Crown Princely Couples thats all.I'm sure their very nice people & there's no doubting the work hard but I've gone right off Letizia (whom I used to admire)
Yip Letizia makes the effort for Royal Weddings & some Gala Dinners but the rest of time she rarely bothers .
Today's 'outfit' was dreadful & she looked bored too!

It's a military event. What do you want her to look other than quietly standing or sitting there during the parade ? She doesn't look any different from others at the parade.

The Spanish monarchy has never intended to make themselves tabloid interesting. They work hard, that's all matters to them and the Spanish public. Other than the tabloids lost thier chance to comment on Letizia's clothes or put her on the covers, most people don't seem to have much interest at whether they attended Monaco the wedding or not. However if Letizia disappeared for two weeks for vacation (not even two months) during official working years, I bet there would be storms of criticism pouring down on her.
I also like to see more efforts of her on clothes sometimes especially when Felipe dressed very formally (in uniforms).

Alas we live in a tabloid era & which is something the Spanish Monarchy or any other monarchy can't change.
I'm not looking for Letizia to do cart wheels down the Gran Via,just to turn up to events looking professional!
I have nothing personal against the woman I just think she can dress a lot better than she does.

I agree with what you said here. But not attending the Monaco wedding is not because they are bored or they are boring. The old fashioned Zarzuela probably doesn't think Letizia is boring enough, too high media profile, hopefully she would be like her in-laws with very minimum interest from anyone.

It's a graduation ceremony. Not asking her to do anything other than look like she's happy to be there as a representative of the SRF rather than looking like she was dragged along and didn't really want to go. Because that's the impression she gives.

She didn't look unhappy to be there either. I saw her pretty happy shaking hands with the military officials.

I think Letizia has done well with her appearances and granted, I've thought she's looked bored, I forget that a picture captures only a fraction of a second in actions and unfortunately we see those split second expressions. I do wish Letizia would choose her wardrobe a bit more carefully. She's at a military ceremony and if the men are all in uniform and the ladies are dressed in dresses or skirt/pant suits for a formal occasion, she should follow suit.

Well, for me the spanish royals, especially Felipe and Letizia, are one of the most interesting royals, because they take their position and job seriously. I don´t care about their clothes so much, I like to read and see what kind of work they do and which things they are interested in. They are far more interesting than some more glamourous royals, who step in once a week to show their best clothes.
