I imagine that there will be necessary to wait to Friday to see that of the Kings, it will be necessary to expect to see when they put it in the web. Tomorrow the weekly magazines are published in Spain, if already they have sent them it can be that in someone they publish someone of the postcards.;)

Why stupid? I think he is right...she can not make such changes in the house..she is only the wife of the prince..she has to wait to be queen to make these things.
I hope the card too.

No, the man is not stupid this time. He is just out there putting up his usual exaggeration, stiring up the controversials, so that he can accelerate his fortune and fame. All Letizia wants is to have a private secretary who can handle the administrative work for her. A very reasonable request, all the other crown princesses in Europe have one.

I hope with Letizia getting a private secretary that it means that the SRF is starting to consider giving her some official duties to do on her own...not that the work she does with Felipe is unimportant, on the contrary ... but she's a bright and intelligent woman capable of carrying out official enagagements on her own...even if she starts with just a few next year!

I assume that's the case. The secretary of the Prince won't be able to handle the work for both of them, not he should.

Peñafiel is a vulture who does nothing but try to turn the people against Letizia because of her heritage; thankfully his credibility these days is very low

Since I am not Spanish, I would like to know if this Jamie Penafiel is the equivalent of the so called trashy magazines here in the US like the National Enquirer? Why does he have a thing against Princess Letizia?
Could anyone enlighten me?
Thanks in advance.

well, he calls himself "monarquic reporter" but all he does is throw critics about Felipe, Letizia, Cristina, lñaki, Elena and Jaime; he really doesn't mess with the King and Queen (he has said himself that he's not monarquic but "juancarlista" ). The sad thing is that he writes for a pretty serious newspaper (El Mundo along with El País are very important, like the Washington Post and the New York Times) so his venom is spread along Spain

Jaime Peñafiel is a journalist who always has spoken about the Royal Houses. But the certain thing is that today in day you hear speaking and is antiquated, only he is left to go for rumors and criticizes Letizia to win minutes of glory in television. His information is often erroneous and very critical with the women.
20 or 30 years ago he was a great journalist with many contacts that was working for Hola. But later he has gone of evil in worse. And now for very specialist who says to be, he is not any more than a "cotilla" that he speaks in the television, many of that read or write in this forum are better informed that he; he is not a serious person.
He believes himself with right to judge to the whole world, and sometimes he manages to insult the people, believes that he is over the good and evil, and actually he is a hypocrite.
After leaving Hola, his career was not precisely a great success. He founded a magazine that ended up by failing, and finished judged for publishing a few photos of the agony of Franco. He was writing a column and spoke once a week in a program of television, but without very much transcendency.
Now he has returned to the current importance for criticizing Letizia, and with it he earns publicity and money, and his ego is uncemented enormously.
But the certain thing is that the people are getting tired of him, and the program in which he takes part suffers from serious problems of hearing.

The history of the photos to the princes and infant Leonor in a commercial center of Madrid has run red rivers on the visit of the princes of Asturias, who took with himself to their daughter, infant Leonor, to a commercial center of Madrid, in the Moral, and the photos that were taken or did not take during that short while from purchases navideñas.

After diverse inquiries, as a summary, the Informer can to order, of reliable form, which happened. Felipe de Borbón and Letizia Ortiz decided to go of purchases navideñas, in which her new born daughter was the first public exit of the marriage along with. There being in the mentioned commercial center, the members of the equipment of security of the Zarzuela detected the presence of a photographer of a specialized graphical agency in subjects of the heart and presses rose.

In the forecast from which that agency took photos, it was decided to warn two means: Efe agency and the magazine Hello. It had not called to the Country. It happened that a person who works in one of the stores of the complex is familiar of a photographer of that newspaper, and called to him. As it were too much far and could not arrive on time, they warned a graphical companion that he lives relatively near the commercial center.

Second photographer was east the one that obtained the photographies published in the Country. And the fact that only he obtained it must to that the other two means, that is to say, Efe and Hello, did not give on time with the pair. From the services of security of the Zarzuela listening that did not put difficulties to anybody so that they took photographies, because, being spaces public, like was the commercial center, have instructions precise to let act to the professionals

I think it is funny that poor Felipe was wearing a tie to go shopping! Was he angry at the photographer in that picture of him pointing out of the car?

That pic of Leonor Shopping with her mommy and daddy was so sweet :)

The Princess of Asturias is totally dedicated in taking care of her daughter. For that reason, this Christmas the Princes have not gone to any of the many suppers their friends have organized. The only thing they did not miss was the birthday of Doña Letizia’s father, celebrated with a lunch some days before his birthday, since it agrees with Christmas Eve (surely he was named Jesus for that reason). Today the Princes return to Madrid after their holidays in Lanzarote.

Moratinos will represent to Spain in 20 anniversary of the establishment of relations with Israel

(...)
Other acts it will take place throughout the present year both in Israel and in Spain, and they will include festivals of cinema, concerts, exhibitions and public ceremonies, in some of which the members' presence of the Royal Household is foreseen.
Also there has been programmed a visit of the Princes of Asturias to Israel, which might take place in May. Though initially there had been thought that Don Felipe and Dona Letizia might have come to Israel in January, soon the idea discarded, especially because the country thinks in a pre-electoral period that it will conclude at the end of March.
(...)

Israel. That will be a very intersting one to follow. Thanks for the information.

What does roscon de Reyes mean?

It is the typical sweet of the Day of the Three Wise Kings in Spain;)

The "roscon de reyes" is a variation of the French "Gateau des Rois" (in Portugal we also have the “bolo-rei”) that has appeared in the court of Luis XIV, to honour the Three Wise Men. Its design remembers a crown and the crystallized fruits, almonds and nuts represent the precious stones that decorate the crown. In Portugal, it’s usually put a broad bean inside it and tradition says that the person that receives the slice with the broad bean in it has to offer the "bolo-rei" in the following year... I'm not sure if that also happens in Spain... Anyway, it's the most traditional cake, during the Christmas season.

In Spain the same tradition exists.;)

Princess Letizia prepares her return at work for February

16/01/2006 MADRID
The princess of Asturias is already preparing her return to work, which will happen in the first days of February. After three months of maternal license and despite the fact that she will continue breastfeeding her daughter, Doña Letizia will be incorporated next month to the official acts. Her first activity after the birth of the infanta Leonor will be, most certainly, to accompany the Prince in the inauguration of the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Sofía (Bulgaria), that will take place February 8.
Doña Letizia hasn't gone to any official act since last November 23, day in which she attended the commemoration of the 30 years of reign of the King that was celebrated in the royal palace of Madrid. It was a symbolic presence since, with permission of Don Juan Carlos, the Princess went away after the greetings to the authorities to return to her residence of the Zarzuela and to attend her daughter. Her last official act before the labor was the parade of October 12.

Although the Princess is not held by a labor regulation, she has taken three months of maternity leave, although for some weeks already she's aware of the activities planned from February an on. In the end of this week, the prince Felipe will travel to Latin America to attend the possession of the elected presidents of Bolivia and Honduras, and between the two of them he will carry out a brief visit to El Salvador. This travel calendar will impede that Don Felipe would be able to be present at the christening of the first born son of the crown princes of Denmark, that will take place in Copenhagen next Saturday. Don Felipe is one of the godfathers of the boy, but he has excused his presence due to his trip to Bolivia. Since years ago, the Prince represents the Spanish State in the possesions of the Latin-American presidents, since one of the objectives of the Spanish foreign policy is the unconditional support to the democratic processes of that zone, punished during years with totalitarian governments. Doña Letizia will not accompany him in the trip, but is predicted that she'll be with him in the next trip, that will have as destiny the capital of Bulgaria.

I used www.freetranslation.com, so excuse any gramatical mistakes:eek:

portuguese article from a magazine VIP, that talks about letizia in forget the polemic about her daughter but she appears in public with all the energy.
