Presided over by Their Majestys the Kings in the Real Palace of Madrid Their Majestys the Kings have presided over in the Real Palace of Madrid the delivery of the National Prizes of Investigation 2005, that grants to the Ministry of Education and Science.
To their arrival, Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía was greeted in the Saleta de Gasparini by the minister of Education and Ciencia, Maria Jesus San Segundo, and the Secretary of State of Universities and Investigation, Salvador Ordo'ñez.
After acceding the Kings to the Hall Columns and occupying its place in the presidential table, Don Juan Carlos opened the session and granted to the word to minister of Education and Ciencia and to the secretary of the Jury of the Prizes, Demonte Violet, that gave reading to the Act of Concession.
Next, Pedro Miguel Echenique Landiribar (Blas Prize Goatherd, in the area of Physical Sciences, of the Materials and the Earth), Miguel Valcárcel Cases (Soft Prize Enrique in the area of Chemical Science and Technology), Miguel Delibes de Castro (Prize Alexander Malaspina, in the area of Sciences and Technologies of the Natural Resources), Manuel Saline de Hermenegildo (Prize Julio King Pastor, in the area of Mathematics and Technologies of the Information) and Ignacio Fernandez de Lucio (Prize Juan of the Cierva, in the area of Technological Transference) gathered of hands of His Majesty the King their plates.
Next, the King gave to the word to Pedro Miguel Echenique, in name of the awarded ones, later to pronounce a speech, in which he expressed the necessity to continue impelling the development of the investigation in Spain, and congratuló by the increase of the economic commitment with the investigation, scientific development and the innovation made by Government, Independent Communities and the private initiative. Also, he pleaded for the incorporation of the investigating young people, indicating like a responsibility that to all is incumbent to us "to prevent that which demonstrated scientific capacities are lost, and to help to the development of the scientific vocations in the young people".
Don Juan Carlos concluded congratulating to the awarded ones and animating to them to continue its commendable work. Once raised to the session the Kings they saluted to the awarded ones and they moved to the Hall Gasparini, where they conversed with the assistants.
