During the last week there have been some problems with Morocco: Rabat has accused the Spanish Guardia Civil of leaving 8 subsaharians in the morrocan coast and the spanish police of attacking morrocan citizens in the frontier with Melilla. The Spanish Goverment denied this, and today Juan Carlos phoned Mohamed V to talk about it. They have agreed they are not going to let this "misunderstandings" upset the good relation between the two countries. They are going to meet in an informal reunion.

The surgery for a man his age was delicate, and it has taking time for him to regain his strenght but King Juan Carlos looks like he is recuperating in fine form!

Der spanische König Juan Carlos I. genießt im Volk ein hohes Ansehen und gilt als Garant der spanischen Demokratie. Und das, obwohl der Diktator Franco ihn selbst zu seinem Nachfolger bestimmt hatte. Daniel Leconte und Anne-Elisabeth Lozano zeichnen ein Porträt des Monarchen und beschreiben seinen politischen Werdegang.

Juan Carlos I. ist in seinem Land ein echter Held. Dem spanischen Volk gilt er als lebende Verkörperung des demokratischen Wandels, als das Antlitz des von Franco befreiten demokratischen Spanien. Doch wie wurde aus Juan Carlos, den der Diktator Franco selbst zu seinem Nachfolger bestimmt hatte und der von Falangisten und Opus-Dei-Anhängern erzogen worden war, ein überzeugter Demokrat? Wie konnte er sich fortschrittliche politische Ideen zu eigen machen? Prägte ihn die Liebe zur Freiheit, die er bei den Reisen mit seinem Vater in vielen Demokratien spürte?
Versuchte er möglicherweise, sich um jeden Preis auf dem Thron zu halten, und verstand, dass ihn nur eine Lockerung des Regimes vor dem Schicksal seines Großvaters, Alfons XIII., bewahren würde, der 1931 von der Republik vertrieben wurde? Ist Juan Carlos ein Mitläufer, den verschiedene Lobbys für ihre Zwecke einspannen? Oder ist er ein kluger Stratege, dem es gelang, nach Jahren des Schweigens und Beobachtens die Industriellen, Politiker und Militärs seines Umfeldes auf seine Seite zu ziehen?
Die Dokumentation untersucht den Werdegang des Monarchen von der Kindheit bis zum spektakulären Staatsstreich im Jahr 1981, bei dem sich Juan Carlos als Garant der demokratischen Zukunft Spaniens profilierte.

Some media repotrs(Spanish and Moroccan) mention these days that the health condition of the king retard his visit to Morocco,the visit should took place with the end of Ramadan but because the king JC heath condition (don't travel outside Spain after his operation) nobody know anything about the new date of the visit.
I hope he is well and I hope to see him soon in Morocco.
 
Good to see that the King looks good again, much less frail than after his operation. Hope he is getting back to old capacity.

What is his health condition? I remember that he had an operation to remove something on his lung, and that was non-cancerous. Is there anything else going on?

I believe that the treatment is finished now (cant provide a source but I think it was confirmed by the Royal House). The King looks much better now and is doing many engagements, I am wondering when he will be travelling again.

The Royal House has visibly cut back on State Visits (in 2009 they had 6 State Visits, none so far in 2010), whether thats due to the Kings health or financial reasons I dont know (State Visits are expensive), maybe a combination of both.
