The King rewards the Suárez's "excellence" and "courage" with the Toisón of Gold
" The time always it does justice, specially with the leaders who fought to change the course of the society ". This declaration "got excited" by the speaker of the Government, Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, accompanied yesterday the approval for the Ministers' Council of a Royal Decree of the Headquarters of the State by which there is granted the Necklace of the celebrated Order of the Toisón of Gold to Adolfo Suárez Gonzalez, Duke of Suárez, who led the transition to the democracy as prime minister (1976-1981), first for designation of His Majesty the King and later with the collateral, in two occasions, of the majority obtained by his party - UCD - in democratic elections.
The distinction, which is that of major range that to personal title Don Juan Carlos can grant, has been granted to Suárez just before which, next Thursday, there is celebrated in the Congress of the Deputies a commemorative act of the anniversary XXX of the first democratic elections, at which the King will preside. The ex-prime minister will not be able to be present at this act on having been affected from 2003 by a serious degenerative disease (alzheimer).

The King congratulates Simón Peres on his election as president of Israel
The King congratulated personally Simón Peres, which today was elected a president of Israel by the Parliament of this country, informed Efe a speaker of the House of the King.
In the second return, and after hisopponents were moving back, Peres obtained 86 votes to favor, 23 in against and 8 abstentions.
Don Juan Carlos called by telephone the political Israeli veteran to congratulate him on his election.
