The mysterious absence on Friday of the King and Queen of Spain from the halls of the City council of Oslo, where a show was celebrated in honor of King Harald V of Norway, was received with surprise by Norwegians.
Juan Carlos and Sofía of Spain not only didn’t show up in public during their short stay in the Nordic capital, unlike the other members of the European royalty, but also their arrival was surrounded by a certain mystery due to extreme and not at all habitual safety measures in this Nordic country.
The Spanish airplane of the Air Force in which King Juan Carlos and queen Sofía flew, along with her daughter the infanta Cristina and her husband Iñaki Urdangarín, landed behind schedule on Friday in the military zone of the airport of Gardemoen. Immediately after, without nobody seeing them and surrounded by several escorts, they were transferred directly to Skaugum, the private residence of the crown princes Haakon and Mette-Marit of Norway, a farmhouse located 20 km to the southwest of Oslo, where a private dinner with the rest of the representatives of the European Royal Houses would later take place.
But while other monarchs, princes and princess coming from all over Europe enjoyed the fabulous and moving show at the City council of the capital, the King and Queen Juan Carlos and Sofía were in Skaugum all by themselves, since the infanta Cristina and her husband the Duke of Palma did attend the show.
King and Queen Juan Carlos and Sofía had traveled to Norway to attend the festivities of the 70 anniversary of King Harald V, and therefore, it is somewhat strange that they did not attend any of the activities programmed for the royalty. According to Norwegian media reports, the Spanish monarchs returned to Madrid on Saturday morning, so they will not be present at the Saturday night gala dance in the “Slottet” (the Castle), the official residence of the Norwegian King and Queen, nor in the sleigh stroll scheduled for Sunday.

The way is not not a bit serious, so normal that they are not informed well.
The Kings only had foreseen to be present at the dinner deprived of Skaugum, had foreseen neither to be present at the concert in the Town hall of Oslo, not to the rest of celebrations. Those who are going to be present at all the celebrations are the Dukes of Palm.
Unlike others Royal Houses, the Royal Spanish House is in the habit of considering this type of celebrations to be private acts, and they are not in the habit of appearing in the official agenda.

I'm afraid I don't understand why The Kings weren't seen attending last night, or why they came back to Madrid today. Do you think it is simply a security reason? It's a shame whatever the reason, especially as I thought JC was good friends with Harald.

Since I have said the Kings were going to be present only at the dinner, not at the act in the town hall; the dinner was deprived and of it there are no photos, only of the act in the town hall.
If the Kings have decided to be present only at the private dinner they will have their reasons, since I have said in Spain this it is considered to be a private act, and does not form a part of the official agenda Kings. At least this way it was in case of the birthday of the King of Sweden.

True, that sounds more like their usual way to travel.
Maybe they decided to come back in order to attend the funeral for the female soldier who died in Afghanistan, which will be held this afternoon:

I appreciate that, I just think it's a shame that they aren't going to be there for the whole weekend. I would have loved some pics of The Kings with other RFs
