The Theater of the Zarzuela celebrates its 150 years with two special concerts in which 60 artists will act

Carlos Alvarez, Jose Bros, Mariola Potter, Carlos Chausson, Milagros Martin, Maria Jose Montiel, Milagros Poblador, Isabel Rey, Jose Sacristan, Ana Maria Sanchez or Maria Bayo are only some of the great figures of the lírica and the scene that will take part in the two finery programmed for the 10 and the 13 of October. To first of them, who agree with the exact date of the anniversary, it is predicted the attendance of the King and the Queen.

Don Juan Carlos will preside over the Committee of Honor of the World-wide one of Indoor Athletics of 2008 in Valencia
King Juan Carlos has accepted the presidency honour of the Committee of World-wide of Athletics in track covered, that will be celebrated in Valencia from the 7th to the 9th of March of 2008, according to informed the organizers. The Real House has wanted to show with the approval of this honorary presidency its full support the championship and the capital of the Valencian Community like seat of great sport events.

The Kings will inaugurate Tuesday Riscal building designed by Ghery

Kings Juan Carlos and Sofía, next to lehendakari Ibarretxe, will inaugurate the next Tuesday 10 day the “city of the wine” in the warehouses of Marquess of Riscal, located in Elciego (Alava), whose main building is a hotel designed by the architect Frank Gehry, informed the Basque presidency today.

The King inaugurates on Tuesday the City of the Wine of Marquess of. Riscal in Elciego

The King Don Juan Carlos will preside at the act of inauguration of the City of the Wine in the Marquess's warehouses of Riscal, located in the locality alavesa of Elciego, which will be celebrated on Tuesday, the 10th of October, at 12:00.

Constructed on a surface near to 100.000 square meters, the City of the Wine possesses the installation hotel - managed by the company Starwood under the mark The Luxury Collection-, the Marquess's centenary warehouses of Riscal, a gastronomic restaurant advised by the chef Francis Paniego, of the restaurant Echaurren (Ezcaray), a spa of vinoterapia that directs the French society Caudalie and a center of meetings with capacity for more than one hundred of persons.

The Kings will visit officially Canaries in the second dozen of November, as reported today a speaker of the Palace of the Zarzuela, trip with which don Juan Carlos and dona Sofía will repeat the commitment of the Wreath with the islands.

This trip, stood out the mentioned speaker, will commemorate the one that the grandfather of don Juan Carlos did one century ago to Canaries, the King Alfonso XIII, the first one that a Spanish monarch realized to the Atlantic archipelago.

During their stay, the Kings have foreseen to move to seven islands that shape the Canary archipelago.

Last year in the same dates, the Kings were in Canaries, in Lanzarote's islands, Great Canary and Tenerife. In the capital of the latter, Santa Cruz, they represented to a commemorative concert of thirty anniversary of don Juan Carlos' arrival to the throne.

The King arrives at Elciego to inaugurate the hotel Marques de Riscal designed by the architect Frank Gehry

The King, Don Juan Carlos de Borbón, arrived last the twelve from the noon at the Alava locality of Elciego, where he was received by lehendakari, Juan Jose Ibarretxe, and will preside over the inauguration of the hotel Marquess of Riscal, designed by the architect Frank Gehry, and who is including in the complex “the City of Vino”.
At the twelve and six minutes, the official vehicle of the Monarch arrived at the Seat of the Clock, to whom lehendakari approached to give to the welcome to Don Juan Carlos and to interchange first words.
After that first moment, Don Juan Carlos was saluting, accompanied by the president of the Basque Government, to the rest of authorities and personalities, among them the president of Marques de Riscal, Alexander Aznar, the president of the Basque Parliament, Izaskun Bilbao, the delegate of the Government in the Basque Country, Paulino Luesma, the general deputy of Alava, Ramon Rabanera, the president of the General Meetings of Alava, Maria Teresa Rodriguez Barahona, and the minister of Agriculture, Thorny Elena.
The monarch, after saluting to the authorities, went to the Cathedral of the Come-Warehouse, facilities that gather the collection of greater private wine of the world and which they date from 1858.

Queen Sofia of Spain Awarded the Ceres Medal

Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain was today awarded the Ceres Medal, coined in her honor by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in recognition of her efforts to raise the living standards of rural women in developing countries.
