After the visit to Bayer, the monarchs had lunch at the Palace de las Nieves, in La Felguera. They were accompanied by the president of the Principality, Vicente Alvarez Areces, the delegate of the Government, Antonio Trevín, the president of the Junta General, Maria Jesus Alvarez, the mayors of Langreo and Siero, Esther Diaz and Juan Jose Corrales, and the Secretary of UGT and CCOO in Asturias, Justo Rodriguez Braga and Antonio Pino.

The menu included cream of Norway lobsters and a cazuelita de fabada, a varied range of desserts and red wine from the Ribera del Duero.
Besides, there was also time for gifts. Areces presented the monarchs with a draw of the painter Paulino Vicente, Esther Diaz offered them a book of photos portraying Nalón river, by Arnaud Spanï, and Juan José Corrales gave a dress for Infanta Leonor, who, according to the Kings, "is very pretty".

I only got a glimpse of Their Majesties only once during the game and they looked sombre but then, of course, Barcelona was loosing 0-1.
If I am not mistaken most members of the SPR fancies Real Madrid, don't they (at least I thought King Joan Carlos and the Prince of Asturias do)? Infanta Christina may be Barcelona fan of course.
And congratulations to all spaniards here. It was a victory of Spain, as well as Barcelona. I must admit I supported (passionatedly) Arsenal but Barcelona won fair and square, so Congratulations again.

Thanks for that one, Lula! I though, or rather I had read that the Royal Family supports Real Madrid because it's a 'Royal' club and everything but there you go. Athletico Madrid is certainly a great club, well deserved to list the Prince of Asturias among their fans.

I would be very surprised if they are truly fans, I just can't imagine how much enjoyment they would get surrounded by hoardes of uncontrollable hooligans, bit it certainly is a great public relations claim.

I've seen the match on TV. CONGRATULATIONS BARÇA!!
Maybe i'm wrong but I think it's not correct that the Kings, and the past week the Princes, go down and pose for the press with the players, the cup... it seems that they want to appear for the photos. I think go to Paris and support Barça, as a Spanish team, from the box it's enough.
But I insist, maybe i'm wrong.

Don Juan Carlos: an hyperactive king

Two weeks ago, King Juan Carlos went to Barcelona to have his periodic medical examinations, which included all type of controls, made by two prestigious Catalan clinics. And the results were "totally satisfactory", as it was announced by doctor Avelino Barrós (Casa del Rey's head of medical care services).

The good medical results have been confirmed by an intense agenda performed by the King, during the last couple of weeks. During the recent visit to the Bayer laboratories in Asturias, the pulse of the King was taken once again and it was confirmed once again that he is in a great health condition.
