Infanta Elena and Family, Current Events Part 1: January 2003 - April 2005
I saw this article, but I don't know what it really says because I don't know spanish. Are Elena and Jaime splitting up or is this a tabloid webpage?
I am not familiar with this webpage, so I cannot say for certain that it is tabloid or not. However, to briefly translate the article....It makes mention that Jaime is returning to New York on his own to continue his treatments while Elena will stay in Madrid. The writer gives the opinion that it is Jaime's illness that has caused this separation. The illness has apparently resulted in much stress and Jaime has episodes which make him extremely difficult at times, so Elena has most likely thought it best to stay behind in Madrid for now, thus this separation of sorts.
I can't say how true it is, but I wouldn't be surprised when considering his illness if Jaime were a bit frustrated at times and perhaps even prone to fits of anger and maybe even rage due to treatments and constant physical and emotional discomfort. However, I am not saying that they have separated in the legal terms of marriage. They may simply be taking time away from one another for the sake of their sanity along with that of their children.

It's absolutely marvellous, although a bit surprising! How much we have been told about the next divorce of Elena and her husband! I wish that she will have a happy pregnancy.
Oh my gosh, I seriously thought that this was an old thread (like from when the King announced Elena's pregnancy with Victoria) that someone had added to! Of course this board wasn't even around when Elena was pregnant with Victoria, but that didn't cross my mind at all.

I hope the Infanta has an easy pregnancy. It can be harder sometimes when you're older. And a healthy baby, too, of course.
How very sad. How sad especially for the poor parents and the grandparents, too. The children are perhaps a litte too young to understand what happened. Just yesterday it was made official, that princess Elena is pregnant and now they had to make this kind of announcement.
That is horribly sad. I was hoping that she and Don Jaimie would have another child. Who knows she might try again, women these days are having children in their early fourties... Look at Geena Davis, she was 46! I do hope that she is coping ok. Losing a child is so hard. Probably the worst thing. :(
Spain's Princess Elena suffers miscarriage

MADRID (AFD) - Spain's Princess Elena, second in line to the throne, suffered a miscarriage in the fourth month of her pregnancy, the palace said in a statement.
Her parents King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia had announced a day earlier during a visit to the northwestern region of Galicia that Elena was pregnant with her third child.
The miscarriage, 14 weeks into the pregnancy, was diagnosed during a routine medical check-up in New York, where the princess lives together with her husband Jaime de Marichalar.
Elena's state of health was satisfactory, according to the statement.
