Perhaps the boys called Michael Jackson for fashion advice. :D

Or they just woke up to late and didn't have enough time to dress up?:D

Hahahah, that's what I was thinking. :D Because I've never heard about "Pyjama Day" in Spanish Schools (at least not in my school days).

Pyjama Days happen here are common (at least in Ontario schools). My friend is a teacher at an elementary school and they have it once a year, sort of like a sports day. They also have funny hats day or Green (or another colour) day, where they show up wearing something of that colour. Even the teachers participate. (My friend has an embarassing story of how one day it was pyjama day at her school and she drove to school in her flannel pyjamas with flying sheep and fuzzy slippers and was worried that something would happen to her car while she was driving and that she might have to get out on the side of the road in her pyjamas! She could imagine the looks she would get! :p Thankfully nothing happened!)

And thanks a lot for the clarification. I've never heard that before.

Our children have pajama day as part of a learning unit about night time, although it never starts on the first day of school! Is this Miguel's first day at "elementary" school? I wonder if the teacher asked them to wear pajamas on this first day in order to do some fun lesson in the classroom that might help them feel more at ease in their new surroundings? Elementary school teachers in our area are, generally, wonderful in their creativity with, and sensitivity to, children that age. I highly doubt Cristina would otherwise let him go to school in PJ's even if he did choose his clothes!

The Infanta dona Cristina did delivery today of a puppy of dog farmer to Manuel Rojas, the canine policeman - guide who lost 'Pretto', his dog trained to smell explosives that he died in the attempt perpetrated in the Italian Institute of Culture of Barcelona last June 12.

After reporting a few instants with him, the Infanta Cristina delivered to the agent a puppy of dog, of race ' farmer retriever ', of black and short hair, of five months of age and something shy, apparently, because it did not answer to the pops of fingers that him there dedicated the mayor of Barcelona, Joan Clos, inciting him to play.
For express desire of the Infanta Cristina, Manuel Rojas's new dog he is called "A" 'Gringo' in memory of an already deceased dog that the Infanta had and to whom she had a special fondness.

In her later speech before the controls and policemen who took part in the celebration of the Day of the Police, the Infanta Cristina highlighted that in Catalonia ' always they have been forged big professionals of this Body '.
Also she transmitted them, ' in name of all the Spanish, the testimony of deep fondness, esteem and gratitude that our society feels towards the self-sacrificing effort, the delivery and the spirit of overcoming with which all the members of the Police National Body you realize your task '.

quite unusual, cristina took her children to swimming classes and then took pablo and miguel in their pijamas to save time so that they could go straight to bed...

many people were surprised because of that.

the whole article (from diezminutos), that doesn't say much more than what i previously wrote:

Doña Cristina, who returned to work at the beginning of September, is not very pleased with the photos that have been published in some magazines, showing her children Pablo and Miguel dressed in pyjamas, when leaving the swimming classes. The monitors of the swimming pool usually dress the children in their pyjamas, when they leave the pool, so that they can go straight to the bed, although some mothers prefer to change their clothes, when they pick them at the classes. However, in the life of every mother, there’s always a day when you being in a hurry coincides with the children being in the sulks and, when that moment arrives, the peace is chosen before the aesthetic considerations. The hazard is if in that precise day, you’re made a photo…

Really! If Cristina didn't want her kids to be pictured in their pyjamas after their swimming classes then she should've PUT THEM IN STREET CLOTHES.
She can't complain about this.
It was her OWN doing.

I think it's comprehensible that she is a bit disgusting with all this.
I believe that the problem isn't the fact that the kids were photographed, the problem is that everyone have talked about this in Spain as if it's were a eccentricity or something really important. Come on! They are on every Spanish magazine's covers this week!
