A development we've seen in many European countries. Thanks for the additional information, Muhler!
Here's another gallery from ppe! The experiment looks spectacular

Today marks the end of the summer cruises with Dannebrog.
The Regent Couple had a dinner with the officers yesterday evening, Sunday.
And in the afternoon today they will formally disembark Dannebrog for the last time this year.
Dannebrog will then return to her base in Frederikshavn where she will undergo maintanaince in preparation for the next batch of conscripts who will form the crew for the cruises next year.
However, Prince Henrik will also visit the newly renovated Battery Sixtus. A part of the fortifications around Copenhagen. Battery Sixtus protected the naval base inside Copenhagen harbour.
And since 1788 this is where the Flag of the Realm has been flying.
It's really a standard dovetailed Dannebrog, which is considered the official flag of the nation. As such the flag is saluted with shots from cannons every morning when it's hoisted and every evening when it's lovered. - The time can vary, depending on what time of year it is. (Remember I told you how obsessive we are about our flag)?
Anyway, here is something about the schedule: HKH Prinsgemalen genåbner Sixtus Bastion efter gennemgribende renovering
Including a very nice pic of the battery.
The navy band will entertain from 16.00-16.30, while the guests arrive.
At 16.40 Prince Henrik will be recieved and the battery will be inaugurated. A salute will be fired and the Prince Consort will be taken on a tour of the site.
The battery is considered a part of the national heritage and as such it's protected.

Queen Margrethe looks so lovely. I do love the red hat and matching cape. This bold colour really suits her, making them very elegant assessories. She also looks so incredibly jovial.

Thank you, Marika
A couple of comments.

QMII is here accompanied by the captain of Dannebrog. Being the Monarch's personal captain, automatically also makes him the first among her adjutants. As such his adjutants cord is much more elegant than "ordinary" mere mortal adjutants.

PH is a qualified pilot, having completed basic flight traning. Hence his pilot wings.

Prince Henrik is wearing the full dress uniform of a full admiral a la suite. I.e. holding no command, an honorary title.
He may not hold any command but at least he, as a Prince Consort, is not required to salute any other Danish officer first. And that's what the whole a la suite thing is really all about.

Whatever you can say about PH, he sure has some....eh, pondus.

QMII is visiting the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment.
Many years ago she became honorary colonel of the regiment known as "The Buffs". I understand that regiment has been amalgamted along with other regiments in the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment.
QMII visit that regiment every year.
- And I see QMII is flying DRF One. It's very common that the Challengers double as transport from high ranking military personel, government ministers and members of the DRF, Apart from their normal jobs of surveilliance.
I see Biggin Hill is no longer a military air base.
- If anyone can add details about the regiment or the Buffs, please do. I'm anxious to learn more, apart from what I read on Wikipedia.

Why does Her Majesty always has to wear blue lately? I'm tired of seeing her blue outfits.

Article from the Defence site Nyrenoveret Sixtus genåbnet
About the reinuguration of Battery Sixtus and the Regent Couple disembarking from Dannebrog for the last time this year. That was marked with a 27 gun salute from Battery Sixtus. - Not the old cannons but more modern cannons from around WWII. They are simpler to operate and as such it was Military Policemen who fired these cannons. - In contrast to the more the 250 year old cannons at Kronborg Castle, who are operated by artillerymen. - Who are hopefully more used to handling interesting stuff, like several kilos of gunpowder...
The Flag of the Realm is now flying from a brand new flagpole.
When Prince Henrik reinaugurated Battery Sixtus, he ended his speech with these words: "I hereby have the pleasure of declaring Battery Sixtus reinaugurated. Mark this with the Danish (identification) signal". Promptly three connon shots rang out from the battery.
- In the days of sailing ships, warships fired a salute when entering a harbour. Partly as a greeting and partly as an identification. Just in case the warship was flying a false flag. The Danish identification signal was three shots. And three shots were returned from a battery ashore.
Here is a clip from the Defence channel of the days events: Vent venligst...
It may require a plug-in.

Thank you , that makes two of us!
The problem is that it's almost regarded as treason when a Dane critizises members of the DRF , but I'll take the risk anyway!
The light blue coast with the teletubby hat she wore for the BRF wedding and in Russia to mention a few venues simply needs to be laid off. It's had its time!

I fear we'll see that outfit again, possibly even more than once, she simply seems to love it

So why is a Danish queen visiting the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment. I imagine she is Honorary Colonel, but how interesting that a foreign head of state should have such a position in the English armed forces? Muhler, can you explain?

Correct, she is an honorary colonel. And so was her father IIRC.
I believe at present there are only one or two more foreigners, besides QMII who are honorary colonels.
I don't know why. My guess is that a number of Danes served in the Buffs during WWII.

They are showing "so you think you can dance" right now, so I thought I might translate a Q&A.
A Bjarne Eriksen asks: Now the starting shot of the hunting season has been fired. Does that mean we yet again this year are going to see the Prince Consort shoot (*) large amounts of state-game for pleasure?
Jon Bloch Skipper replies:
The Prince Consort every year take part in a number of hunts, among them the traditional royal hunts.
Compared to the lavish royal hunts of earlier times the DRF only shoot (*) very few animals nowadays.
Apart from that the DRF are not gorging themselves in state-funded game. The animals shot (*) during a royal hunt are state property. It happens that the court buy a part of the prey for use in the royal kitchens, but the state sell the remaining game to shops specialising in selling meat from game, all over the country.
Finally it's the responsibility of the royal master of the hunt (**) that the royal hunts do not affect the existing populations of game, a job for which he has the full backing of the Prince Consort: "Many idealists, who wish to ban any form for hunting, forget that the consequense would be overpopulation and degeneration. A true hunter respects animals, selects his game and take into account the age, sex, scarcity and size. It's only a few who is out to kill, just for the kill". (***)
You can read more about the Prince Consorts attitude to hunting in his autobiographt "Destiny oblige", from 1996.
(*) The word used is actually "nedlægge", which is a much more neutral word for killing game. I don't know an equivalent English expression.
(**) At other hunts, the master of hunt is either the local game warden (skovfoged or skovrider) or the one who owns the hunt, who is responsibly for what is shot and how much. - And also security.
(***) The car is the biggest and most lethal predator in DK.
