The programme included presentation of prizes, a technical/scientific lecture, an introduction by Per Holten-Andersen, rector, about what the future holds for RVA and a reception in the afternoon for invited guests. The RVA has had ties to the royal house since 1856.

You know, you may have a point there. Before Prince Frederick hooked up with Mary the Australians probably had never even heard of the Danish Royal Family and probably weren't that familiar with Denmark, as they had no reason to be. Now look at all the interest (even excitement) they have as they watch their adopted "daughter" in her new royal role in Denmark.
Very clever of Queen Marguerite.

Very nice photoes purple_platinum and Adry:) Here is a translation of Polfoto's caption:
Wednesday, Queen Margrethe presented guard Morten Dahl Hansen from Skrøbelev on Langeland with "Her Majesty the Queen's Watch" during a parade at the quarters of the Royal Life Guards in Copenhagen. Morten Dahl Hansen, who has soon finished his military service, received the recognition because he in particular has proven himself to be a good friend and a skilled soldier.
Regarding the lack of warmth between HM the Queen and Greece, I remember reading in the Official Annual Report of the Royal Household of 2004 that Her Majesty paid a "coutesy visit" to the President of Greece during her stay in Greece for the Olympics. It was clearly important for the court to stress that Her Majesty visited the president of Greece, not because she wanted to, but because it was protocol. But maybe it was in the course of this courtesy visit that all disagreements and differences were set aside!?

Here is an article regarding an art critic not liking the Queen's paintings.

According to Billed-Bladet, HRH the Prince Consort was secretly admitted to the University Hospital of Copenhagen on April 2 and had minor surgery performed. Initially, doctors thought that His Royal Highness could return to Amalienborg on the same day, however, they later recommended the Prince Consort to stay for the night. His Royal Highness was discharged on the following day.

According to TV 2's website (http://nyhederne.tv2.dk/article.php?id=3940736&forside) Prince Henrik was admitted to Rigshospitalet on Monday to have a cyst removed which was discovered during a routine check. He left again Tuesday morning. There are no further comments about it except that it was not cancer.

Billed Bladet ( http://www.billedbladet.dk/default.a...ails&Item=3922) says that
"Monday morning, Prince Henrik, 71, was secretly admitted to the Rigshospitalet. The prince was to have minor surgery and he was planned to be released from hospital already same evening. However, the doctor at the ward did not think that the prince consort was ready to be released and that he ought to stay at the hospital. Therefore, prince Henrik spent the night in a hospital bed before he was taken back to Amalienborg on Tuesday."
(Sorry Lasse, my fault, I was quoting the same source you had already quoted!)

On April 14, 71 year-old Henrik, HRH the Prince Consort of Denmark, inaugurated a new roller coaster in Tivoli Friheden, Århus. Sadly, the new addition "Tyfonen" ( http://www.rcdb.com/qs.htm?quicksearch=Tyfonen) came to a sudden stop when the onboard security system shut it down due to the fireworks fired to mark the very opening. This small, unscheduled intermission occurred shortly before the ride ended, meaning that the Prince Consort had his share of fun. Whilst waiting for the problem to be fixed, His Royal Highness asked to the crowd if anyone had a cup of coffee . It cannot have been very nice to sit still for 15 minutes on such a cold day. Someone in the crowd offered His Royal Highness a brandy, and he accepted the offer which was, to the regret of Henrik I guess, never accommodated! Nonetheless, the Prince Consort seemed amused and seemed to think of the malfunction as a memorable experience. Afterwards, when asked of his opinion of the ride, His Royal Highness smilingly and candidly replied that "It was quite long".

I got this pop up window that asked me to post something, since I haven't posted in several weeks. You all bear with me. I enjoy following the discussion, but seldom have anything to add. I think the foreign born spouses of the DRF are to be admired. It must be very difficult to leave one's native land permanently to live in another country. That being said, I think Prince Henrik looks cold on that roller coaster. Here in central Texas the temperature is in the 90s F (32+C). Too bad we can't swap some of our warm air for some of the Danish cool air. All you all have a happy Easter! ("all you all" is Texas dialect) j

Henrik is soo cool, I don't know many men his age (or even younger ) who would willingly get into that rollercoaster, specially with all the cold air (brrr ), now we know where did Fred get his "wild side"

%59 of the Danish are against to that the sovereign leaves the throne by her first-born Frederik
The Danish monarch also received another sample of the affection of her subjects: according to a survey published yesterday by tabloide "BT", the 59 percent of the Danish is against to that Daisy leaves the throne in benefit of its first-born Federico. Of between the 1,112 people interviewed by the newspaper, only the 29.1 percent is favorable the "retirement" of the queen.

Thanks for the article, fanletizia.
I'm not that good at Danish but I think the article in BT means that the Danes don't want Margrethe to ABDICATE in favor of Frederik. I don't think it means that they don't want him to succeed her when the time comes.
