btw...is that the order of elephant?

The date on the statue is July 5, 1849 which is the date that Denmark declared itself a constitutional monarchy. So I would say it´s in honor of the 156th anniversary of that day.

Some pictures from Colourpress.

I believe they are of the Queen and the Prince as they prepare to take up residence at Graasten Palace on July 22 2005.

I love the way the Queen takes off her gloves to shake hands, very down to earth. What a class act. Also, she looks very nice in the white hat & yellow jacket.

I agree Princess Gertrude, it is a very nice gesture that the Queen removes her glove when shaking hands!

... just a few more pictures from Colourpress ...

I just finished watching a Danish documentary (in English) called "A Royal Family" and it was wonderful. I particularly took note, in that documentary, that the Queen seems very charming. She speaks perfect English in a very precise English accent and was extremely eloquent.

That documentary is wonderful, indeed. So many great pictures, and so interesting to have the memories of all the royals. It's always nice to see what they, like Queen Margrethe, remember of their relatives.

There is a thread on the topic (the documentary and the book) in The Royal Library if you want to share more opinions ;)

Great pictures. Here is another article.

Queen confirms royal romance rumours

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik praise their younger son's and former daughter-in-law's way of dealing with their divorce

Queen Margrethe knows that there is 'something' happening in her former daughter-in-law's private life.

The queen gave her curt answer at her annual press meeting at her husband Prince Henrik's wine chateau in Caïx, France, when reporters asked her to comment on reports of a romantic relation between 41-year-old Princess Alexandra and 15-years-younger portrait photographer Martin Jørgensen, a native of the Copenhagen suburb of Valby.

Queen Margrethe pospones its trip to Mexico by reasons for health

(...)

The monarch of 65 years, who projected to visit Mexico in October, receives medical treatment due to osteoartritis problems and in recent months he has experienced pains in the back and the knees.

"the flight time combined with the demands that an official visit imposes, would be so onerous that the queen has decided to follow the advice of her doctors and to postpone therefore, lamentably, the visit", indicated the palace in a declaration.

Here are the first pictures from Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik's municipality tour in the four coastal municipalities of Greve, Ishøj, Vallensbæk and Brøndby that they are carrying out today on board the Dannebrog.

These pictures are from the harbour of Greve, as they arrived there. The first picture is from B.T., and the rest from Polfoto.

No Queen Margrethe will not go to China with Prince Henrik, becuse she has a very painefull disease callede osteoarthritis. It will simply be to hard for her to travel by airpalne that long way to China...it is one of the reasons for them to postpone ther state visit to Mexico in October this year.

I saw this article in BT about Queen Margrethe but can't understand a word of it. It was on the front page so it should be important.

Can anyone translate?
