:previous: thanks for the info
looking forward to seeing Marie :flowers:

:previous: Alas, I don't think we will see her.

I understand from other articles that the exercise will take place in Aarhus and as this is going to take place "at sea" it will probably involve Navy Operational Command, located in Aarhus and that's where I think the whole thing will take place.

To my surprise we are actually seeing pics of our Marie at the excersize: H.K.H. Prinsesse Marie til krisestyringsøvelse

She did not go to Aarhus, where most of the excersize took place but went to the Civil Defense HQ in Birkerød, that is a part of the greater Copenhagen area.
They were naturally also involved.

- I think more pics will be published by the press at some point.

what an interesting engagement for marie! i'm glad she got involved in nuclear emergency preparation.
she is looking great in her crisp black suit. the belt looks great and adds to the outfit.

Princess Marie opened the Global Entrepreneurship Week of the Danish Industry in Copenhagen yesterday, November 16:

BB has an article about our Marie who took bette Henrik to a Christmas musical in Tivoli today.
They were received outside by some of those who take part in the musical.
Nice pic.

Marie went as patron for the Autism Association and this is an annual event.

Its just a shame they have to skip the queue for the attractions in front of small children.
Its quite difficult to explain to your 5 year old daughter who thinks its her turn, to tell no you have to let those pass before her. :bang:

Once inside I wouldn't be so sure that they skipped queues. I was in Tivoli in October and the 4 crown princely children were there. They joined the queues like everyone else.

Well, she was there as patron and a kind of guest of honor and not as a private person.

It was Joachim and Athena and some friends, and as the crownprincely children have learned how to queue, its a different story with Joachims. They skipped the queue yesterday in front of everyone else.

Are we talking about the same thing?

I'm talking about the event today where our Marie attended as patron for the Autism Association.

If Joachim was in Tivoli yesterday that's an entirely different matter, which I have no knowledge about.

Billed bladet says Marie and Henrik visited Tivoli yesterday so yes its the same event we talk about.

:previous: What has that got to do with Joachim and Athena? :ermm:

They are not mentioned at all in the BB article.

Are we talking about something you experienced or it is from an article somewhere? In which case what article?
It's a bit a difficult to relate to your post.

Sorry for that. Well no they are not mentioned in the article, but while Marie and Henrik was in the theater, Joachim and Athena rode attractions.

Its my own experience, and I find it rude of him to skip the queue because he is more important than my daughter and other children who had queued for a very long time.

Okay, I see. :)

Yeah, that can be hard to explain to a five year old.
Allowing for the benefit of doubt, perhaps they were accompanied by the Tivoli manager?

:previous: Thanks Polyesco.

As patron of the Autism Association our Marie went to Tivoli to see a Christmas musical. With her went bette Henrik and her LiW, Britt Siesbye.

At noon they were received at the entrance and escorted through Tivoli to the concert hall, where the performance took place. Here members of the ensemble had taken up position to welcome them.
The musical lasted an hour and afterwards Marie said: "I think it was so cozy. And very entertaining. What do you think, Henrik"? (*)
Bette Henrik responded: "I think it was fun".
Marie: "We really got in Christmas-mood. - We have both Danish and French traditions. We think it's fun to dance around the Christmas tree and present presents. We eat good food and have a cozy time.
All through December we have Christmas-coziness (**) with the children. And yes, this might become a new Christmas tradition".

They haven't lived long enough in their new home to adapt their old Christmas traditions to new surroundings: "It's the same traditions we have brought with us into the new house in Klampenborg. We have started out easy and calmly. It takes time. And we are celebrating Christmas at Marselisborg this year. That we look very, very much forward to".

From the concert hall Marie and Britt Siesbye went to meet their husbands, Joachim and Oscar and the rest of the children. I.e Athena, who is still to little to enjoy the musical, and the Siesbye children, Alexander and Sofie Agnethe.
After having enjoyed a dinner together, the part went out to try out the attractions and have a look at the old garden. Mademoiselle Athena obviously liked going to Tivoli! She was smiling her head off, judging from the photos in the article.

(*) Marie has in an interview said that at home she calls him Henri and speak French to him.

(**) See the Christmas thread to get an idea of what that could be.

Great that they are raising their children bi-lingual. Growing up bi-lingual will serve the children for the rest of their lives.

Indeed.

I saw a documentary today with Stephen Fry about languages and how languages so much define cultures and the way people think.
Example: The word "bridge" is feminine in German, but masculine in Spanish, so the way people in these countries think and talk about bridges is very different.
The same thing about Russian, the weekdays have a gender. Monday is masculine while say Wednesday is feminine, and that influence the way people perceive these days and describe these days.
In Danish nouns are gender neutral, in contrast to French. So that I think will enrich bette Henrik and Athena's way of perceiving things.

When I speak German I never give the gender of the nouns a second thought, because that's not natural to me.

Thank you, Eya. :flowers:

Beredskabstyrelsen aka the Civil Defense has an article and a pic: H.K.H. Prinsesse Marie på besøg hos DMI

The main purpose of our Marie's visit was to see what preparations are made in order to incorporate meteorological forecasts into the total defense readiness system.
In view of the changing climate that is going on in recent years, with more frequent and worse storms and more very heavy rainfall here in DK the weather forecasts are crucial for the Civil Defense, police, Home Guard and other parts of the total defense.

- So, more ominously, are fallout from reactor meltdown at especially a particular Swedish nuclear plant located just across the sound from Copenhagen. Or even worse the fallout from a dirty bomb, which the Danish PM has just expressed a serious concern for, since Islamists appear to be actively working on constructing and deploying such a weapon.
