Princess Haya of Jordan was either former president or a candidate is as much as I know. I wonder if other royal equestrians are part of this organization? Like Norway's Martha Louise or Zara Philips or Spain's Elena? Or Benedike's daughter Nathalie?

I'm surprised that Princess Benedikte has to campaign like this for the presidency. I would think the organization would think it an advantage and a privilege to have a Princess of Denmark representing them.

I agree.
I find it slightly out of place to run for a precidency, even if it's a horse association.
Either they want her or they don't.

Does the other 2 children of Benedikte, Gustav and Alexandra, ride as well as Prince Richard?

I was expecting Princess Benedikte to attend King Gustav's birthday party. Was she not invited?

She was invited, but the event coincided with her bid Presidency of the Federation for Equestrian sport.

which she ultimately lost. To miss the birthday party of a king she must know well personally of course, this equstrian club & the election must have meant a great deal to her. All the more insulting that she had to compete for the title, only to lose the election. I agree with other posters on this: either the horse association should have asked her to be the prez., or she should have refused to participate altogether.

Picture from DR
Princess Benedikte is currently attending the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, were her daughter Nathalie is participating in the dressage competitions (read more in her thread here). Here is a picture of her in the area of the games, and tonight she will present the gold medal to the winner of the Grand Prix.

Other than the appearance of Royal Photos, does anyone know how close Princess Benedikte is with Carina, her son's girlfriend? Was she close to Elvire, his prior fiance?

I don´t know if Princess Benedikte is cloes with Carina,BUT i do know that Benedikte and Richard really like her. I gues it is because they can se that Carina makes Gustav very happy.
I don´t know how the relationship was betwen Benedikte and Elvire but i gues it died out the day they broke of the engagement.

Today I saw Princess Benedikte and her son's girlfriend Carina shopping in The Royal Copenhagen Shop. They seemed to be very close; laughting and chatting. They were looking at the expencive Flora Danica dinner service. Maybe Benedikte tried to learn Carina about some of the finest danish design and culture if she is going to marry into the family...?
BTW - I knew thet Princess Benedikte was an elegant lady when out on official duties - but I have never thought her just as elegant and well-dressed in real life. A true royal!

From Paul Theroff's Online Gotha news page!!
According to Point de Vue, Hereditary Prince Gustav zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (b.1969, son of Richard Fürst zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and of his wife, née Princess Benedikte of Denmark) is engaged to marry Carine Axelsson.
Does this mean the issue with his grandfather's will was straightened out? I hope so :) Gustav seems very happy with Carina!

Could you provide a link to this information, please?
I believe that this must be a mistake. If Gustav, Prince zu-Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, had been engaged, I am confident that a press release would have been issued.

So far it is just a rumor.
A press release has not been issued, and Gustav has said that an engagement cannot take place until things have been settled (his legal issues.) As of today, it seems that his case is still being dealt with.
Point du Vue, I believe, is jumping to the gun.

Oops, I thought I'd posted it. Here's the OG link: http://pages.prodigy.net/ptheroff/2006_2.html
I went to find it at Point de Vue, but I'm not very proficient in French and I don't know if they post what's in the articles anyway. Anyway, I hope it IS true and we get a formal announcement soon.

Goodness, I completely forgot about Benedikte's birthday, which was on April 29. The Princess of both Denmark and Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg turned 63.
The gals at DRWs provided a short summary of the Princess. To read more please click here They also provided a short video link about Schloss Berleburg.
Nonetheless, I found more information about the German town which she lives when she's not in Denmark. Bad Berleburg, is a beautiful town and the castle where she lives, along with Gustav and Carina, is simply fantastic. Click here to see a series of photos. See this link to see what it looks like inside the castle.
If that isn't enough for your viewing pleasure here are a couple of more links to enjoy of the romantic castle
