He IS a handsome young man! Happy B~Day Prince Nikolai! :)

Has Felix had his confirmation yet?

Joachim's boys are going to be total heartbreakers. Nikolai already is! I can just imagine young Danish girls going mad for him!

A handsome young man indeed. Must be all those Viking genes. ;) It's nice that Nikolai and Felix are often together in their birthday photos.

In the second picture from the official website (where he's with Felix) is that a cigarette in his right hand? :ermm:

Nikolai was photographed before outside a cafe with a cigarette on his hand. At the time, the official version was that he was holding it for his father. In any case, the boy is already 17 in a country where smoking is very common among young men and both his parents and grandparents are known to smoke. It wouldn't surprise me if he started smoking himself.

On your first point, I think it is actually the combination of his mother's Chinese ancestry and his father's European genes that gives Nikolai a different, exotic look by Northern European standards.

I don't know how much this story is going to be blown up or whether it will blow over. So here we go.

As you know Nikolai attends high school at the prestigious Herlufsholm boarding school (not all pupils are boarders though).

Now a 16 year old pupil at the school has been arrested for rape, or rather some kind of sexual assault on a girl who is also attending the school. She is probably a year younger since she's an 8th grader.

Anyway, it seems the management of the school tried to keep a lid on what went on. Instead of contacting the police, they called in a specialist in sexual molestation to look after the girl, who was committed at the schools hospital/infirmery.
That specialist talked with both the girl and the boy in question.
However, the parents of the girl (presumably upon learning what went on) reported the incident to the police who promptly arrested the boy.

- To me this looks pretty embarrassing for the management. And since many parents of the pupils there are very influential it may turn out to be a huge mistake career-wise as well.
Not to mention that the Ministry of Education and the police are hardly impressed either - no matter the outcome of the police investigation.

Indeed.
The boy in question is a ninth grader, Nikolai is a second year high-schooler.

Such a wonderful little girl! And as you can read below the photos, her proud mother Princess Marie has taken the photos herself :)

Nikolai is learning to drive. He is attending lessons at a driving instructor. That is confirmed by Joachim: "Yes, Nikolai has begun to take driving lessons at a driving instructor".

Joachim also urge people in Copenhagen to stay inside for the next few months while Nikolai is roaming the streets...:D

I'm a bit late, but I adore the birthday photos of Athena. She's such a little cherub and I like her top and little red bow a lot. I think this photo is my favourite because to me, it really captures her personality.
I can't believe she's 5 already! I hope she had a lovely birthday.

Good luck to Nikolai. An exciting time getting your driver's license.

Do we know when Felix will do his confirmation?

How old do you have to be to drive in Denmark ? He is almost eighteen, would have thought he would already be driving. But guess thinking by Canadian standards.

But Joachim sounds a lot like my dad when I started learning :ROFLMAO:

You have to be 18 to receive a drivers license to drive a car alone. However the government just made a new law, that means you are alowed to get a licence and drive a car when you are 17 IF you sit next to someone in the car, that is an experienced driver.

In Portugal you can start having lessons with 17 years old, but you need to be 18 years old when you go to the exams to get the driver's license. So it's no surprise to me that he is learning how to drive at 17 years old.

Wow, here is sixteen, and some places still old farm laws, fifteen for drivers license. That is driving alone. You get what's called a learners permit at fifteen, which is what you described for seventeen, having to have a driver with you. In the past few decades laws got a bit stronger in some provinces, meaning if you had a full license but driving less than two years there were restrictions like time of day.

Same in Germany. The adult, who has to be defined beforehand, will be checked by traffic authorities because only persons with zero 'points' (for traffic offences) are allowed.

If the youngster will cause any accident or notable offence in the next 2 years, the punishment will be severe, from having the licence withdrawn to having to do it again. Also, for youngsters there is zero promille regarding alcohol. So it's very strict.
