lovely pictures, it's great to see everyone got together, and interesting the event happened at alexandra's house and that everyone was invited, even marie's dog! i guess they all get along very well, it's nice to see.

Wow! I'm so surprised to see this! I knew Joachim and Alexandra have been amicable co-parents but to have all congregated at Alexandra's, including Queen Margrethe, is just wonderful. What lucky boys Nikolai and Felix are to have a family like this. I'm sure it's a rare occasion but it signifies the love and affection they all share for their son, grandson, stepson, nephew & cousin. Many happy returns for your birthday Nikolai!

It's great that the whole family got together for this great occasion. I don't think I saw any pics of Felix perhaps he just wasn't photographed and just stayed inside the house.

All of Joachim's children are adorable and I'm glad to see that Nikolai had a great birthday! I was also happy to see little Henrik, I believe he's getting cuter each time I see him.

Prince Nikolai is a lovely young boy. I enjoyed the photos of his b-day and I wish him many many happy returns! The biggest surprise for me was Prince Henrik - such a sweet baby boy! And he's growing so fast! Thank you all for sharing the galleries! :))

Prince Joachim and H.E. Countess Alexandra , along with the rest of the board of Prince Joachim and Princess Alexandra Fund decided to change the fund's name to " Nikolai and Felix Foundation - HH Prince Nikolai and HH Prince Felix 'Fund " with effect from 18 May 2010.

I wonder if Nikolai & Felix refer to Martin as something other than Martin. Does anyone know if they have a term of endearment for Martin. I know in some families they will refer to their father as Papa and the stepfather as Dad or maybe Pops. Although I cannot belive that Joachim would go along with that. It seems like Martin has such a close and loving relationship with the boys, I would be surprised if they do not have some form of endearment.

I love the fact that Marie and Joachim walk in the streets without bodyguards! Also, I love the fact that they walked like any other couple. They seem to be so down to earth...unlike Mary.

I love it when the obvious is stated; that of course the 'minor' royals have less personal protection than, say, our very capable crown princess.

See what you mean, though it's hard to say what they boys are calling Martin.. apart from Martin! Their relationship appears to be fine and trusting.

Exactly! CP Frederik and CP Mary are not only the Crown Prince Couple, but the future King and Queen of Denmark. They have always had and will always have bodyguards where ever they go. Prince Joachim and Princess Marie are the support royals in the DRF and have a lesser profile than the CP Couple. All the European CP Couples have bodyguards at all times.

Prins Nikolais dejlige fødselsdag - Prince Nikolai's lovely birthday.
Written by Ulrik Ulriksen.
As you know, Nikolai turned eleven recently and he was celebrated by all his family.
Billed Bladet had stationed Ulrik Ulriksen at the entrance with his ears folded all the way out and this is his account.
The first to arrive at Svanemøllevej was Queen Margrethe, Henrik was in China. Carrying a couple of parcels she warmly welcomed by Nikolai on the stairs with a kiss and a hug.
Almost right on the heels of QMII came uncle (farbror) Frederik with cousins Bella and Christian. Mary arrived straight from an event (the swimming around Christianborg thing).
Then came Martin's dad and younger brother, Mads with his sweetheart Julie. They stayed on after the rest had left.
Finally, came daddy Joachim, with our Marie, Bette Henrik and Winston and Apple. (*)
Once inside and after having presented the gift, all went out in the garden on this lovely day and here, Ulrik Ulriksen's ears picked up the unmistakable and very loud sound of boys playing, because also had a couple of mates from school over.
The family part of the birthday ended a couple of hours later it was time to say goodbye, that also applied to Christian, who had been going at full speed in the garden.
Alexandra chatted with Mary on the way out and our reporter's ears picked up Alexandra saying: "Thanks for a lovely day. Hi, hi, see you".
(*) The royal reporter par excellence Ulrik Ulriksen, has a way with words, in this article he claims that Apple is a dog! Very amusing.
