He does look like Nikolai did at that age in these pictures. When you see him close-up I don't think he looks just like him. I think he's lighter skinned and his hair isn't as dark. His eyes aren't as oriental shaped as Nikolai's are. I think Nikolai is more like his mom and Frederik where Felix will take more after Joachim in appearance.

In the reading picture, I think Alexandra is trying to help Nikolai to articulate his words properly. I used to be a teaching assitant and placing your hand as a fist underneath the child's chin ensured that they would open their mouths wide enough to articulate words rather than just mumbling. That's just my guess, I can't be too sure what Alexandra is doing exactly.
