Here is a quote taken from someone else:
A couple may appear to be good for each other to others. Those outsiders may make comments that the couple seems right for each other, without knowing the less-public inner workings of the couple. It can be all too easy to identify with these observations and to "live up to" them. If a couple, behind closed doors, is having difficulties relating, but the energies most obvious to others are largely harmonious or positive, the couple may feel some pressure to "be" the couple they appear to be and to hide the difficulties they are having.

I think this quote could also apply to couples like David and Victoria Beckham. Both trying so desperately to live up to an image of a perfect union even though there is discord behind closed doors.

There lies the conflict: being private/discreet or air the dirty linen? Would either choice be good for the couple/family or good for the public? and whose interest is paramount? Very few couples can go through life without any disagreement. For those living in the public eye and prefer to work out their problems in private, especially when children are involved, some see them as being mature while others accuse them of deceiving the public.

Princess Alex never really fails to look good in whatever she wears. I think she prefers that in whatever occasion or outing she and her kids attend to, they wear as much as possible the same shade of color. Prince Felix is also sporting a light brown attire and so with her mother.

That may be so, but you must admit that at one time or another in their relationship they were happy and in love with each other. Who is to say that if they were not in the public eye they might have lasted as a married couple. Then again even without living in the public eye their relationship might have dissolved too. It's happening all too often nowadays. More than anything it's really sad, especially when there are children involved. No one making their vows on their wedding day imagines that some years down the line they will end up breaking those vows, but I guess that's just life. Sometimes it just doesn't work out the way you plan it to. I truly celebrate those who have long marriages. I was talking to a coworker one day and she was telling me that she and her husband were coming up on their 45th anniversary. So happy for her and asked her how they made their marriages work. She just said that you never go to bed angry and you learn to live together, but at the same time live your own lives. Afterall you're two different people forming a union. Much easier said then done, but ultimately I think it's a matter of finding the one that is right for you and working through your problems. 'Cos there is no such thing as a marriage where no problems and fights occur...we're all only human afterall.

He's soooooooooo adorable! I love the closeup of his face. He has beautiful blue eyes.
Nice to see Nikolai was there to celebrate with little Felix. Looks like Felix got a car! Nikolai got a car on his 3rd birthday too. And the Felix license plate is really cool.

Anyway, I often wonder what exactly makes a marriage "irretrivably broken down" without a third party involved. Being single and my parents being married for over 24 years, it's hard to comprehend. Do people just stop putting work into strengthening their marriage? It just sounds like for some couples (not necessarily P. Alexandra and P. Joachim), they don't want to work to give their marriage a fighting chance or are too easy to give up. When do the vows "Till Death Do Us Part" suddenly become "Until we can't stand each other"? It's just hard for me to understand.

I think sometimes people may grow apart over time, maybe. People change, their basic interests may diverge and become incompatible. I'm not sure though, but it's just a guess :)
