While Princess Alexandra looks grand and uber-glamorous as usual, I really like Prince Joachim's picture. I love that he's in his uniform outdoors with all the natural light filtering through.
... Can we expect new official pictures of the rest of the family, too?
Also important, I think it's new jewelery! I don't recall seeing her wear amethysts before :)
The way she has the tiara makes it look a bit different as well. She's very good at that sort of stuff.
What is the Elephant necklace thingy (I apologize because I don't know the proper name for it) What is it called, and what is the significance behind it.
Gorgeous photos! Princess Alexandra looks very elegant and exotic while Prince Joachim looks quite handsome! Thanks for the great research! :)

It's the order of the Elephant. It's only given to members of the Royal Family, and there can only be 6 out at a time.
The Queen, Princes Henrik and Joachim, CP Frederik, and Princess Alexandra have one. The last one goes to Fred's wife.

What if there had been a third sibling of Frederik and Joachim's? Does that mean there could be 8 Order of Elephant's out? For the Queen, Prince Henrik, CP Frederik and wife, Prince Joachim and Princess Alexandra and sibling X and sibling X's wife/husband?
Or is there only six ever, and the youngest sibling and his/her spouse may not get one?
I believe there's only six total. CP Frederik's wife gets one right away because Queen Dowager, Ingrid, has passed away. If HM were still alive, Frederik's wife wouldn't recieve it until she'd passed away.
Sorry but the Danish Order of the Elephant does not only go to Danish royal family members. The Order of the Elephant is the royal order of Denmark such as the Order of St. Olav is Norway's Royal Order for example. These orders are often given out to members of other royal families. If you look at pictures of the wedding of Prince Joachim and Princess Alexandra you will notice that most of the royal guests are wearing a light blue sash with an elephant on the lower right side holding the sash in place.
The order that is given to royals who are very close to the Danish royal family is the Order of the Dannebrog. It is actually a cross that is worn on the chest area for females and around the neck for males. This order can only be given to 7 people at a time. They are: Queen Margrethe(Grand Commander), Prince Henrik, King Carl Gustav of Sweden, King Harald of Norway, King Konstantine of the Hellenes, Princess Benedikte and, since the death of Queen Ingrid, Crown Prince Frederik. If Mary does indeed marry Frederik, she will probably not get this order until she becomes queen or if one of the other holders pass away.
The only order that is solely for members of the Danish royal family is the Family Order to which is only given to women. It is a medal worn on the chest area with a picture of the current monarch on it. It is only the monarch who can bestoy the order to the family members. Princess Alexandra had to wait two years before getting this order.
So the only royal order Mary will receive if she marries Frederik is the Order of the Elephant which was also bestowed to Princess Alexandra on the day of her wedding. Unless of course Queen Margrethe wants to give her the family order at the same time.

Thank you loads for these wonderful pictures Jenna1186. :flower: The pictures of Joachim and Alexandra are so striking. Alexandra's stylish flare really comes through in these pictures with the way she accents her simple, otherwise bland shirts with bright, vibrant scarves. The pictures where she is wearing the beige shirt with the bright turqoise scarf is evident of this.

Gaven fik prinsessen, da hun besøgte Rehabiliteringscentret for Torturofre-Jylland i Haderslev.
Afslappet. Smilende som altid. De to børn kaster sig straks ud i at spørge ivrigt.
