I heard about this yesterday. Hm, like my fellow Royal House of Denmark followers, I do believe something is about to happen at the end of July.

Oh my, oh my, another royal wedding perhaps?
Poor Henrik had to suffer all these years without a French website to his name and now this!

I want Marie and Joachim to eventually get engaged, but I hope for a longer courtship - something like Gustav and his fiance perhaps. But if they get engaged soon then that's okay too.
I think Marie is good for Joachim. I like that she's very relaxed, very open, and the fact that she blurted stuff out in the beginning I dont think really mattered that much to Joachim. Sure it might have schocked him a little, which might have led to the short separation (if there was one), but at the end of the day, they're good for each other. The last thing Joachim needs is another "Miss Perfect" goody-goody. I think he would would rebel against something like that. But Marie is Marie and she won't be compared against anyone else and that's what will suit Joachim.

How great ! Now I really think, there will be an engagement.. I'm hoping begining engagement in July, and wedding in August-September. I don't want a winther wedding, no ! And since this isn't a wedding like Mary's and Fred's that took MONTHS, actually a whole year to plan, I could imagine that they could plan in two months -

Yes, this makes me think something is in the works. This is just my feeling, but I don't think they will marry before next year. Maybe an engagement will come at the end of this year, but my feeling is she will move to Denmark sometime over the summer. They will fast track the relationship and after a few months an engagement will be announced.
Did Alexandria live in Denmark before the engagement? If not, it makes me think he would want to try this with Marie. If she did, then my theory could be wrong and she could move at the time of an engagement.

As in July-August of this year?!? I don't think that will happen. Joachim is still a prince and isn't there protocol that must be followed? Marie also needs to learn more about Danis language and culture. She won't ave as big a role as Mary, but she will still be a Danish princess! That process can NOT happen in a few months.

I also have a feeling she'll be moving to Denmark soon, maybe in the summer or autumn of the year. I also think that there will be an engagement announced this year, at any time. Of course her role won't nearly be as big as Mary's, but I think she will get to patron of some things, yes? But I agree she needs to become more in tune with Danish language and culture before anything big happens. I think the Danes need time to fall in love with her more than they already have.

I was unaware that prior to Marie there was "...another 'Miss Goody-Goody."

Hi BB, no, Alexandra did not live in Denmark prior to her engagement toJoachim. When it wasannounced in the Danish press, she flew to Denmark for the official announcement and press meetings. After that was all finished, Alexandra flew back to Hong Kong.

If you are referring to the former Princess Alexandra, I don't think that she was perfect or goody goody. I think that she was (and is) well-educated, intelligent and a person of high standards. She was also able to convey interest and commitment to her causes.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Lets please not turn this into an Alexandra vs Marie thread. Please get back on topic and refrain from stereotyping people.
Thanks

I like Marie a lot, and I think she's a good fit for Joachim. In DRW's, they describe Marie at Joachim's match. She seems to have made some friends with the other drivers wives. Looks like it was a fun time for everybody at the racetrack, from the drivers themselves to the cheering wives and girlfriends. I'm glad that Marie is doing more things in Denmark. Hopefully this is a sign that we'll definitely be seeing more of her!

Joachim and Marie do seem to be a good match. As I noted earlier in this topic, I believe Marie is good for Joachim. One can see this by his appearance (for awhile there he wasn't looking too good.)
He seems to be more relaxed, carefree, and so forth. I wish the couple happiness which I don't think they really need, because one look at them, well you know the rest.

I want to point out here that Alexandra and Joachim had a private engagement when they had vacations together in the Philippines in 1994.
The engagement in May 1995 was just the official version.
This could also apply to Marie. Maybe they are already engaged and now they are only planning for a suitable timepoint of the official announcement.

Yes, of course, Heike, thank you for reminding me of Alex and Joachim's private engagement .
Perhaps you are on to something about Marie and Joachim. Only time will tell

Marie Cavallier
I sincerely hope that Prince Joachim does not marry Marie Cavallier. I feel that Maria Cavallier is not the right woman for Prince Joachim, especially after the way she declared her love for him last year to the press before telling Prince Joachim anything about it. I don't think that she suits Prince Joachim at all and I hope that he figures it out quickly before he makes another mistake.

they seem to be very happy & she seems to be living her life just as it is. But i guess when its time to be a prince's wife, i dont think she would be the right person. she seems she isnt ready to settle down anytime soon.

That's interesting. Because to me, I see a young woman who declared she was in love. She has been seen with Joachim and his boys and they seem to like her. She has been spotted with Prince Henrik, Joachim and his boys. She spent time with the family over the holidays. She accompanies Joachim to significant milestones of his friends (i.e. christenings and wedding anniversarie). She works. She visits Joachim often in Denmark. She supports Joachim's passions (i.e. his car racing).
Based on that information, I'd say she seems like a mature woman who shows signs of being ready to settle down. I guess I'm curious to know what are the signs that she isn't ready to settle down.
Also, I do wish some would stop crucifying the girl for saying (the horror!) that she loved Joachim! I guess if she said "I'm just using him for his money/title" that would make some of us feel more at ease? For goodness sake! The girl only expressed her affection for him! She was young and had no experience dealing with the press. She's stopped talking to the press as much. I didn't see any backlash in the Danish press for her saying that. (Glittering Tiaras correct me if I'm wrong)
