Joachim has also commented on the horrific murder of three children belonging to a friend and business partner of his, Anders Holck Povlsen.

https://www.bt.dk/royale/prins-joachim-om-terrorangreb-i-sri-lanka-giv-ofrene-ro

Joachim said:
"When terror strikes in this way we are all affected. It's simply abhorrent.

To be frank, when we consider the victims who have asked for peace and quiet - I think we should give them that.
I think that's what they need the most."

:previous: I didn't realise that Mr. Povlsen had been a business partner of Joachim. The whole DRF must be shocked and saddened by this tragic event.

Pouvlsen was a partner in the Five Farms, of which Schackenborg Manor was one.
The co-corporated in marketing their products and in co-coordinating what to produce.
Pouvlsen was also, I understand, one of those who bailed Joachim out from Schackenborg - in the sense that he left without a debt and with an estate in good order.
I understand the produce from the fields around Schackenborg now belongs to the Five Farms.

And now for something all pet-owners can relate to.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #21, 2019.
Written by Henrik Salling.

Our Marie's dog, Apple, is dead.

The fourteen year old Bichon Frise died basically of old age last weekend.
Marie told our reporter from BB that the dog didn't have long to go. It was only a matter of time and indeed within days, Apple was gone.
Apple has been with Marie since before she began dating Joachim.

Since the family is moving to France it has not yet been decided whether they will have a new dog.

:previous: Sad news, though Apple lived to an old age and I'm sure she had a long and fulfilled life. May she rest in peace - hopefully she has met Ziggy in canine heaven!

So, how does this compare to the birthday party that was organized for HRH princess Benedikte recently?

I guess we shall see how the two dinners compare. The link has been updated, from the DRF the Queen, the Crown Prince couple and Nikolai will attend. And of course Joachim and Marie.
I was expecting Felix too but so far he is not listed

Sounds like an interesting interview. Especially what he has to say about PH.

Will get back to that later.

It has been confirmed that Baroness Caroline Fleming will move into J&M's home at Emiliekildevej.
https://www.bt.dk/kendte/caroline-fleming-flytter-ind-hos-prins-joachim

Earlier this this Caroline Fleming said that she would move back to Denmark, now that her children are getting older, so that they may experience a Danish upbringing as well. She has three children.
She has until now lived in England and her house there has been put up for sale.
She will move into J&M's home in early August with her family and live there while she is looking for a more permanent place to live.

- Interesting. That leaves the option for J&M to extend their stay in France open.
If they stay, they can either keep having Caroline Fleming living in their house in Copenhagen or she may buy it from them.
If they don't stay in France, they still have a place to return to, and the expenses for having the house are covered.

I guess J&M will live at their apartment at Amalienborg the few times they will be in DK over the next year or so.

I'll put this here, because it's basically speculations, albeit by royal experts.
This is based on an interview of two, often used, royal experts in the (pretty trashy IMO) weekly Se & Hør.
It's Sebastian Olden-Jørgensen and Søren Jacobsen.
Both are royal commentators and authors of books about the DRF.

Now, I believe that royal experts when it comes to speculations are just as much experts as hardcore royal watchers on forums like this.

Having said that I post this, because this is AFAIK the first time serious royal experts have spoken strongly in favor of my pet-theory: That J&M are moving to France permanently.

https://www.bt.dk/royale/eksperter-derfor-kommer-joachim-ikke-tilbage-til-danmark

I will translate their arguments without further comments from me.

"It would not surprise me if Prince Joachim and the family chose to stay abroad after he has finished his education,
I actually think it's a wise decision, because I think that the man has some failures behind him and this can be a new start. It is in any way very prudent/sensible with a change of venue/scenery."

The two experts are not in agreement as to whether this will be a complete break with the DRF or not.
SOJ believes Joachim might very well do a Benedikte, while Søren Jacobsen (SO), believe he will leave for good also as a working member of the DRF.

SOJ:
Believes it is possible to live abroad while still remaining a working member of the DRF and mention Benedikte as an example of that.

"It all depends on how he manages to carry out his tasks."
He adds that it might mean Joachim may have to give up some of his protections, but that other protections might benefit from that.

SO however, does not agree. He does not believe Joachim and Benedikte can be compared.

"The whole Southern Jutlandic adventure has left a stain on Joachim, that Benedikte does not have. She is the Queen's loyal sister who stands in when she has to."

SO also believes it will be difficult for Joachim to look after his protections from France, but he does agree with SOJ that leaving for France will be a smart move by Joachim.

"You can well compare the relationship between the Crown Prince and Prince Joachim with the situation in an old noble family, where there are two sons: One gets the manor (the Realm); the other has to find another occupation and preferably abroad. That's actually the way a part of the old Danish nobility was spread all over the world."

SO and SOJ both agree that the move to France to attend the academy there is a step towards creating a life abroad.

SOJ:

"After the death of Prince Henrik, France is also sort of free and therefore Prince Joachim can put his mark on it - also without stepping on someone's toes."

France and surroundings that is. SOJ points to Paris or Brussels as alternatives and and explains why they would be better alternatives than returning to Denmark:
Det danske militær duer ikke rigtig. Uanset hvordan han klarer sin uddannelse, så vil det altid klæbe lidt ved jobbet, at det har han fået tildelt, fordi han er den, han er,

"The Danish military doesn't really work out (as an option). No matter how he copes in his education, there will always be the thought (in regards to a future job) that he has got it because he is who he is."

----

Now, since my opinion on this matter and my opinion as to why Joachim would leave DK for good has been made abundantly clear by now, I see no reason to repeat myself again and again.
I have therefore decided not to comment further for a while, unless there are news or as a response to a direct question.
I am much more interested in learning the opinions of our resident royal experts: You.

Thanks for that contribution! I would agree that Joachim will wind down many of his commitments in DK as the crown prince family grows older and and likewise I agree the passing of PH does open up new freedom and opportunities in France for the whole family. In effect I also think J&M might still attend some major events and new year balls just like Benedickte.

Jakobsen is a journalist but Olden-Jørgensen is an acclaimed historian who specialises in court history. Now, speculations are speculations, I agree, but there's a considerable difference in the basis of your speculations depending on whether you're a scholar who has studied and analysed the subject in question for the majority of your life or a royal watcher who is "just" following the subject as an interest. I don't always agree with Olden-Jørgensen's assessments but to equate him with just the average royal watcher isn't entirely fair, I think.

New adorable dog for the family:

"Over the summer, D.K.H. Prince Joachim and Princess Marie got a new dog. It is a bichon frieze of Danish descent and the name is Cerise. In Danish, it means cherry, and your Royal Highnesses thus carry on the tradition of naming their dogs after a fruit - the family's former dog was named Apple."

^^^^^ Well it's better than calling one of the kids 'Apple's! Just kidding. She looks adorable and is a perfect inside outside dog. I think every family should have a dog even if only to guilt their owner into walking them.?

Welcome to the DRF, Apple! ? She's a gorgeous little dog and it seems like she already has a good friend in little Athena.

New doggie is simply adorable and gorgeous!?

But I didn't realize that "Cerise" means the same thing in both Danish and French...which is "cherry"....?

The meaning of the original post is that cerise in French means kirsebaer (cherry) in Danish so no it's the same thing. That said I think there's a shade of red that's called cerise in Danish?

It doesn't. Cherry = kirsebær in DK.

Indeed! Cerise and "kirsebærrød" ("cherry-red") are used interchangeably ?
