Summary of article in Billed Bladet #39, 2011.
Prinser på to hjul - Princes on two wheels.
Written by Henrik Salling.
http://www.billedbladet.dk/Kongelige...i%20skole.aspx
Due to the World Championships in Bicycling, Copenhagen was last week a traffical nightmare.
It's usually Martin Jørgensen who drive Nikolai and Felix to school. However, chaos reigned in Copenhagen, so they went by bike to Krebs School in central Copenhagen. A fair distance from Svanemøllevej in Hellerup. Arriving the shortly before school starts, at 08.00.
Felix told us: "I like to cycle". Both boys sported cool looking helmets. Martin must have... forgotten his helmet.
- I find it both prudent and reassuring that Martin Jørgensen escorted the boys to school. It is after all a reasonable distance, with a good deal of traffic. Not least insane cyclists, who are oblivious to any rules, let alone any traffic rules, or laws of nature for that matter!
It appears Martin Jørgensen was running a bit late that morning, because he hadn't shaved...

Fridag med mormor - Day off with (maternal) grandmother.
Written by Lisbeth Grube.
Our Marie's mother, Francoise was/is in Copenhagen in order to visit her daughter. They and Joachim, pushing bette Henrik in a folding chair, went for a walk around Amalienborg this Saturday, around 12.30 to be exact.
When Marie and her mother wasn't chatting away, bette Henrik acted as a tour guide pointing out important attractions like a playground: "Look. Playground. - Playground. - Playground". Alas, no visiting the playground on that occasion.
However, the relieved watch of the Royal Lifeguard who marched by on their way back to Rosenborg was also a welcome diversion. (*) (As far as I could count, it was "big watch", meaning that QMII is in residence).
Joachim, being the gentleman farmer, he is, sported a neat sixpence.
It looks like Francoise Grassiot is cold. She has learned the hard way that you don't wear ballarinas in Denmark in October!
In the days before that Francoise Grassiot and her husband, Christian was taken for a tour of Copenhagen. They have been observed sailing for a guided tour in one of tour boats in the harbour, along with Marie, Joachim, bette Henrik and Nikolai and Felix.
And they ate Italian with Marie and Joachim at a place called Fiat. - Judging from the address it sounds expensive!
The article offeres no explanation as to why la charmant Marie held a white, furry oddity in a kind of string.
(*) I've seen many a grandparent trying to entice their grandchildren to be excited at the sight of the Guard marching. The problem is that when you are two years old or so, you just see some men walking about. - Big deal...

New bespoke tiara for Princess Marie!
Princess Marie, patron of the Copenhagen Jewellery fair recently saw the tiara made especially for her by designer Anja Blinkenberg from jewellery firm Flora Danica. Marie was in contact with the designer during the whole proces, and the result mirrors the French background of the princess.
Flora Danica - Nyheder
The tiara consists of three French lilies in oxydized silver, with stamens of white gold with tiny, sparkling diamonds. The three lilies are symbolizing the royal threesome of Marie's family, and the expected addition is marked by an extra diamond on Marie's flower. The base of the tiara is made up of a row of 25 amethysts, a favourite stone of the princess.
The tiara is dedicated to Marie, but belongs to the Flora Danica company. Princess Marie will be able to borrow the tiara, whenever an occasion occurs. IMO it's a beautiful piece of jewellery, but the colour of the amethysts makes it less versatile.
Judge for yourself in the link above!
Flora Danica features the French lily as the theme of a new jewellery line, by the way.

It's not really that nice, similar to the midnight tiara but the midnight tiara is a bit better, but nonetheless she will be able to wear a different tiara when she needs too.

I like the Lily-tiara and I find it the design rather different from the midnight tiara. Then again - maybe it's a matter of taste! The lilies with their diamond-studded nodding stamens bear a slight resemblance to the infamous "poppy" head piece of Queen Margrethe. A slight resemblance fortunately; it really takes something to upstage that contraption !

I like the design very much and I think it will suit Marie very well. I would have loved to have seen a black gem or charcoal gray gem where the amethysts are. I think it would have been more versatile. But overall, it is very nice and a good option for Marie.

Article in BT: Tv-program afslørede nye sider af Prins Joachim - Royale - BT.dk
Right now TV3 (a commercial channel) is showing a series about the racing team, Joachim is a part of. As such it shows Joachim from a different more private angle. I.e. freewheeling with his mates.
One of the things that has emerged in the programmes so far is his intense passion for racing and how very competitive he is. - Which is hardly surprising for racing drivers.
It also show Joachim's male bonding with his close friends Martin Berner and Oscar Davidsen Siesbye. With play-fighting and other typical guys-behaviour.
In the episode their aired last night, Saturday, Joachim had been challenged by Frederik to a race in go-carts. Joachim won.
Apparantly he mocked his brother. - And as Frederik is just as competitive, Joachim was probably pretty merciless afterwards.
Joachim says about his passion for racing: "My parents has told that the interest for cars started already before I could talk".
It seems that the viewers are seeing the genuine Joachim in this series. Also when he voices his protest against putting stickers on the car in a typical male way: "Bloody hell if I want to". (*)
He is apparantly also a heavy smoker, especially when he is tense or nervous.
- I haven't seen anything from this series, it's aired on Saturdays! But if anyone else has, please tell us something.
(*) The expression used is "krafteddermame" (not kræfteddermame, BT journalist!) which is a pretty soft expression and it can be translated to bloody, fricking, bloody hell and so on. But nevertheless an expression you don't expect from Joachim, when you see him on the job.

I can't comment on the episode, but I was a bit surprised that a member of the DRF would agree to something like this. I believe this was called "reality tv" somewhere.

It is reality TV. - Some would call it a documentary with a personal touch, whatever...
Of course some forms of reality TV is more meaningful/more intelligent than others, like the early series of Airport or some cop-series - Or my personal favourite: Bonderøven = The Farmer, which Danish and Swedish members may be familiar with.
In what catagory this one is, I don't know.

It's however a bit omnious when the instructor warns Frederik, when he has been seated in the go-cart, that he's among sharks now.

Hi Viv,interesting news,I'm not a fan of that tiara.
When I spotted 3 French Lilies in your post I thought of the 'Fleur-de-lis' of France & their link to another Marie

Hello An Ard Ri !
You could say it's a 'sponsor-tiara' ???
I rather like it even though it's not the most versatile of pieces.
There's something in it for Princess Marie and there's something in for the fashion jewellery company, of which Denmark seems to have an abundance!
When wearing it, Marie will be a walking advertisement for Flora Danica! So it's a no-go for the official stuff IMO however it'll be ok for the more private events. This practise could be up for debate; should royalty endorse certain products and brands, as both the Joachims and the CPs seem to do?
Someone mentioned the 'Midnight tiara' earlier, it was made by another Danish jewellery designer and went on display on a tiara-exhibition. Cp Mary wore it for some occasion however the 'Midnight' was IIRC never presented as a sponsor-tiara.

It's suddenly Thursday again and Billed Bladet #42 is out.
One of the topics in Q&A this weeks deals with Frederik's oratorical issue. I may translate it - I think most of you will be very much in agreement.
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...ml#post1328024
The Stylefinder deals with the jacket Mary wore in Kalundborg, when she named a new Navy Homeguard vessel. - It's from Malene Biger and made from wool. From their AW/2008 collection.
We have an article about Mary visiting the VIA University College in Aarhus.
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...ml#post1327964
A brief coverage about they yearly concert at Fredensborg Slot with the Regent Couple and J&M.
We also have an article, but very little of substance, about Christian's birthday.
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...ml#post1327960
And this:
Summary of article in Billed Bladet #42, 2011.
As you can tell from Iceflower's links above (she'll soon add a gallery as well ) Joachim and our Marie attended the christening of Caroline Fleming's son at Valdemar Castle.
The little man was christened Nicholas Christian Iuel (*) Bendtner.
The ceremony took place in the castle church.
After the christening the 40 guests were invited to a reception. Among them were Joachim and the fair Marie.
Joachim know Caroline Fleming and her family from his childhood.
Marie and Caroline's friendship also go back many years. At some point Caroline had a chalet at Verbier in Switzerland and just like Marie she's fond of skiing.
- You may recall that it was Caroline Fleming who introduced Joachim and Marie for the very first time. They were seated next to each other at a hunting dinner here in DK and Joachim was selected because he is fluent in French and is very well versed in French culture. Both of them were at the time in a relationship.
They met again a few years later and ended up getting married.
Actually M&J arrived the day before (see the gallery to be posted by Iceflower) and they along with 25 guests dined at the castle the evening before the Christening, where Marie was one of the godmothers.
Caroline Fleming is also a friend of Mary and Frederik and Mary is godmother to another of her children.
(*) In regards to names I can be used instead of J in Danish. So when writing Iuel instead of Juel it's a nod to the archaic spelling of that name.
