In her usual style, Mary doesn't say much about their private lives, but I think the smile speak very much for itself.

To the first question, she replied that she was looking forward and that she was sure it would be a nice celebration.

To the second question she replied that answering that would take some time, because they have after all been together for 12½ years and that is quite a while! "But, we are really well/fine/good together".

It really does :) The way her face lights up when she is asked about Frederik. We see the same with Frederik. Lovely to see after 12.5 years. For it is indeed quite a while.

BTW, I saw a woman on Facebook commenting how proud she was because her son will make the dinner for the CP couple at their copper wedding celebration.

Both DR1 and TV2 (Denmark's largest media) sends TV-shows in prime time tonight and tomorrow. And there are also many articles and galleries.

BB's coverage is massive. There are countless videos and galleries - are members here on TRF interested?

:previous: The last picture is one of the most recent taken of F&M - seriously, it's so obviously genuine fondness of each other.

After TV2's program this evening they published this little video on Facebook - already received more than 8 thousand likes - and many congratulations from Danes who all touched remembers the day clearly.

Indeed. BB this week has included a 52 page, very well illustrated booklet on the occasion of M&F's copper anniversary.
And next week they publish the second part...!

I'm in the process of scanning the booklet and it will be uploaded here on TRF.

Was the TV2 show worth watching, Roskilde?

I feared they would go way over the top.

I actually think they have some interesting to say. For we always hear everywhere how Frederik and Mary have taken the whole Denmark and the Danes by storm. And they have, indeed. But I actually think that these two - Frederik and Mary - most of all have taken each other by storm. They seems incredibly drawn by each other - on all fronts. And they seem to make each other to better persons and get out the best in each other.

Therapist and author Ingrid Ann Watson:

"I have no doubt that she makes him a better man. And he makes her a better woman. And it's love."

Frederik and Mary's love is obvious to all. When they are together on official events, they always take their chance to give each other a flirtatious smile kiss or a loving hug, and it's obvious that they love to spend time together.

"Their love shines out of them. They manage to keep love alive through mutual respect, and they are good to support and praise each other. When Mary does something - for example with the Mary Foundation - he supports her, and the same the other way around. I think they have huge respect for each other and are good to focus on the good," she explains.


Pastor, Erik Norman Svendsen:

"I think it's obvious that the Crown Prince and Crown Princess constitute what we today call a good match. And the good match was there from the beginning, and has been strengthened by the arrival of four children. Never has a picture/post on the DRF official Facebook received near as many likes and greetings in such a short time - after only 2 hours has the picture of F&M in nightwear being awakened this very early morning received over 20 thousand likes and 1000 greetings.

So nice they posted a picture from the morning wakening :flowers:

Glad they shared this picture with us. After learning about this anniversary tradition in Denmark, I was hoping to see a photo of the CP couple.

is that a customary way to celebrate the copper anniversary in denmark then (to wake up the couple)? or just what their friends prepared for them? what is the usual way to celebrate it?

it looks like christian is dressed with outdoor wear so i wonder if their friends waited for them outside their house?

I had a closer look at the photo released this morning: Morning
It is obviously a basement-door.

Now studying Amalienborg I think I have deduced exactly what door. See here: Amalienborg and alternative doors.
The door marked A is located beneath M&F's bedroom windows and if possible, you traditionally gather outside the bedroom window.
A third option could have been the corresponding door at the inner court at the opposite end of the building, but that's far away from M&F's bedroom.

such interesting traditions! thanks mulher for explaining us. :flowers: i am not aware of other countries having traditional ways of celebrating anniversaries, so it is always interesting to hear about these very specific traditions all over the world. and seeing royalty in their pijamas/bedrobes - now, that's a first! :p

How do you celebrate such anniversaries in Australia? Alternatively Tasmania, if they have special traditions there.
Or in Scotland? Since Mary's family has their roots there.

i can't comment on australia as i am not aussie but in the time i lived in UK, i was not made aware of any particular celebrations during anniversaries, apart from the usual (parties, dinners, a nice holiday, or the like). let's see what others have to add to that!

I just was wondering if in their wedding it was some kind show, singers, or other kind of entertaining. ?
I can see by the photos all down to earth considering this is a Royal Wedding. From the tables, the dance together, we can see they had an extreme cake!...... but a lot of guests.......
I had been in Weddings that goe beyond Royals, so I was wondering in this case how was?
 
BB has an account and a video from the morning of the copper anniversary: KGL KOBBERBRYLLUP: Til morgensang hos kronprinsparret | BILLED-BLADET

The first to show up and "sneak" into the garden, was the Music Corps of the Royal Lifeguard.
They played the tune: Det er så yndigt at følges ad - It's so lovely to go together - which is also a favorite at such occasions.

Family and friends also "sneaked" into the garden, guided by a security man, who presumably unlocked the door.
And as you can tell from the video, M&F must have appeared in their bedroom window as is tradition, to general cheering and flashlights.
The crowd also sang: Svantes lykkelige dag - Svante's happy day - a very nice song about seeing and finding happiness in the small and day to day things in life.
I think the third and probably last song was: Og så gir' de nok en lille en = And then they'll probably buy us a a wee dram (loosely translated) - as a little hint: Where's the coffee, buns and schnapps?

After 1½ hour the whole thing ended.

The portal would have been made, again by family and friends - or erected by professionals, but at least decorated by family and friends in the evening before the event. - And of course M&F wouldn't have noticed anything at all...
 
Thank you everyone who posted photos and links. How nice to learn about this lovely tradition. Every wedding anniversary is precious. My husband and I had a private celebration for our 25th, and he didn't live long enough for us to celebrate our 50th, so I envy those who can celebrate these special times.

I noticed Frederik isn't wearing his collar - I wonder if that was just for the photo or if his neck has already healed.

As can be expected from DR1 it was a balanced, yet positive, portrait of M&F.

Eventually the programme will be uploaded in the DR1 archive, and as such can be seen outside DK.
You can put it on mute and just enjoy the clips, which were very much a timeline of events since they got engaged.

Alas, I have quite some work to do, :ermm: so if someone else will write a more detailed review, please do. :)

- and some warm, home-knitted mittens from Mary. :p
