"Potato holiday" I love it and can understand why the farmers needed all hands in the fields during that week.

 You are welcome.
Okay, I think we can count on M&F having gone to Trend by now.
So I thought we should touch the subject of "hygge".
Hygge is very difficult to define because it is essential about creating an atmosphere and surroundings in order to feel snug, safe, relaxed.
We Danes (and the rest of Scandinavia) don't have a monopoly on "hygge", but we cultivate it very much and a place like Trend is ideal for creating such an atmosphere.
Let my try and describe (later illustrate) what "hygge" can be.
Hygge can be a late autumn evening in summer cottage along the West coast of Jutland.
You sit in a couch beside your wife under a blanket. Opposite sit a couple of your friends. You can hear the wind outside and the rain against the dark windows that are lit up by candles. You feel your cheeks blush after the long stroll along the beach and you can still sense the sea in scent of your wife's hair. Your dog is lying in front of the fireplace, loudly gnawing on a bone.
There is still a faint smell in the air of the cakes you heated in the oven.
There isn't much light except for a couple of lamps in the corners and the candles here and there. There is no TV, no radio, it's not needed. You sip from a glass of wine and laugh of a silly remark from your friend while your wife munch down yet another piece of chocolate.
You know your children are safely asleep in their bunks and you feel, good, warm, safe, comfortable and relaxed in this little cave you have created.
Sometimes the conversation stop but you don't feel that the least bit awkward.
Now, how does that look?
Something like this perhaps:

Have I ever told you that we are pretty obsessive with candles here in DK?
- In my archive somewhere, I have some pictures of M&F's home, back when they lived at Kancellihuset and they had created an atmosphere of genuine "hygge". I'll see if I can dig it up.

How lovely. Always a joy to read Muhler
I think hygge has been described by Mary and Frederik as "coziness" but more.
I recognized the word now
and seeing Christian with his cousins at the soccer game with his scarf reminded me of this picture from a few years, looking cute with his scarf
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5DAcPEhWHm...0/610x9631.jpg
and maybe he should show his grandpa, that he also roots for Australia lol

- Do you have a scarf? Henrik asked Christian who proudly showed Grandpapa his Danish red/white football scarf.
- So you are Danish tonight, and I'm ... Oh, yes, I am both Danish and French, said Henrik to Christian.
A very nice picture of Christian surrounded big his older cousins. Now he his a part of the big boys:

Muhler you are so good at describing moods. And yes, it is impossible to say 'Denmark' without mentioning the word 'hygge'.
I can imagine Trend not only will have 'hygge' in the form of candles, but also with fire in the fireplace. So cold it is in Denmark these weeks the fireplace can now be used.

A picture more from F&M and children in Tivoli:
"So lovely to see you "live" last Saturday among us all other common families."
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...4097ba746a47ac
We've only got a few pictures - three pictures published by Tivoli's teather themselves and a few from ordinary Danes spotting them on their way. That is so great and very Danish. (Although I would lie if I would say I wouldn't had loved to have seen clearer pictures, F&M's foursome are adorable!)

 Nice pic, Roskilde.
BB confirms that Mary and Frederik were present at the wedding party of the American ambassador: Kronprinsesse Mary til bryllup hos Rufus Gifford | Billed Bladet
They arrived shortly before 19.00 and were seen dancing with each other. They were "not the last ones the leave the party".
The picture is not from the party.

Thanks Muhler. I read Frederik and Mary were also invited to the wedding at the Copenhagen City Hall during the day, but had sent their apologies as they had prioritized their day in the theater and Tivoli with the children. But then they attended the party in the evening instead.

Tomorrow is a big day for the Crown Prince family - it's Christian's 10th birthday - and I guess the Royal Court will publish new lovely pictures.
Until then ... Think that this is already ten years (and three more children) ago!

Has Joachim (and Marie) ever been seen/photographed out somewhere with Christian (his godson) or any of his brothers kids?

Thanks Polyesco
It always strikes me how obvious a loving little boy Christian is. With his arm around mother Mary and his arm through his father Frederik's arm. Isabella just love those flowers bouquets, doesn't she, and Vincent and Josephine are adorable little ones.
On the occasion of Christian 10th birthday tomorrow this Facebook fanpage has 50 very great pictures from his first 10 years:
Enjoy.

You know, there are always some pictures that just stays so strong in your memory.
That one picture of Frederik and Mary - first time parents - coming home - Frederik holds his newborn son, Mary puts her arm around Frederik and together - now as a little family - they walk home...
It is a wonderful and touching picture that says it all itself!
I've noticed many people on Facebook who writes: The best picture EVER.
The picture I'm talking about :

Thanks Roskilde, wonderful gallery of the birthday boy. The photo of Christian sitting on his little chair at Isabella's Christening is just so cute and brings back what a well behaved little boy he was for someone so young. He appears to be such a loving, caring son and brother.
The photos of him with his parents in the Tivoli are so sweet,
Many thanks Roskilde, polyesco and Muhler for the photos, links and information that you continually share with us, your time and effort is very much appreciated.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #42, 2015.
Written by Luise Marie Bekker.
As we now know the BB journalist, Henrik Salling was there too as a guest and he has told Luise Marie Bekker a bit about the party.
M&F have apparently developed a friendship with the ambassadorial couple, Rufus Gifford and Stephen DeVincent.
M&F arrived at 18.45 just before the 150 guest went to dinner.
M&F were later seen on the dance floor together. Some of their friends were there as well:
Birgitte and Jeppe Handwerk.
Elisabeth and Christian Buchwald.
At the party Mary wore the dress seen here: https://app.box.com/s/13kev2eecy7vpdbevq6neqpw6s6uswxj
But this time with her hair hanging loose.

I can see at the pics from Tivoli that Christian isn't so little anymore - he now owns his own mobile phone in his pocket :)
