This Daily Mail article could very well have been written by our fellow member and valiant defender of Frederik, Polyesco: Australian Woman's Weekly chop Prince Frederick out of cover photo | Daily Mail Online
Daily Mail, on this no doubt very quiet day..., asks why Frederik and the boys were cropped out of the cover of Women's Weekly.

IMO a clear case of typical female chauvinism and yet another example of the ongoing oppression of males.

Well, the magazine and article are aimed toward women, so I guess I can see their point. Although a picture of Frederik would please the ladies, too.
But in the DM article, Isabella's hair is referred to as 'mousy brown.' That was mean and unnecessary

Well, I don't think the writer necessarily meant to be mean.
They were just observant. Isabella's hair is mousy brown. It's the most accurate description. My niece has lovely mousy brown hair too.
I don't think there is a stigma about having mousy brown hair at all.
I would think that, due to the many 'blonde jokes' in the world, calling her hair 'dirty blond' (also quite accurate) or 'dark blond' could have been perceived as offensive by some. Isabella's hair isn't dark enough to be called brown or brunette.
Me, I find the article non offensive.
The chopping off Fred and the boys is odd but I don't find that offensive either.
I guess I don't find many things offensive.

Then you are a rare breed that ought to be treasured.
I had no idea that dirty blonde or dark blonde could possibly be percieved as offensive. Guess I'm naive.
My hair happens to be dark blonde just like Isabella's, well, most of it... In DK it's also commonly called liver-pate-colored...

The things you learn on this forum! Where I come from, mousy brown is a put-down. I guess you can't call this a regional difference, it would be a world-wide difference. I would say Isabella's hair is light brown. To each his own, I guess.

Liver-pate!! Wow, that's a delicious colour.
Muhler, thank you for sharing that Danish description.
It's a hair colour to rival Chocolate and Strawberry Blonde...
Perhaps Isabella's Liver-Pate might darken to Chocolate as she gets older.
Then again, Queen Margrethe seemed to have the Liver-Pate into adulthood.

Another common name for dark-blondish/greyish-blonde hair is "kommunefarvet" = municipality-colored - It's even used in police descriptions to the public.

Hmm ...I take it that means that kommunefarvet has mass popularity -
common appeal and would not stand out in a crowd.
A very 'blend into the community' colour. That's very accurate.
Clever Danes.
Thanks, Muhler.

I would agree with you, @MidwestMom, on Isabella's hair. Her hair is more light ash brown than dark blonde. Christian is also darker than blonde. The twins, on the other hand, are blonde and Vincent has what I would describe as leverpostejsfarvet hår liver pâté coloured, whereas Josephine's is a shade more golden.

I think I will post it in this thread:
The tourists at Amalienborg Palace got them a nice view of Frederik last Thursday. Suddenly the gate opened and out from Frederik VIII's Palace came Frederik on his bicycle. Frederik was going to meet up with a team from the Chinese TV station Hunan and they were going for a ride along the harbor with Frederik as their guide.
First stop was the Gefion fountain at the end of Amaliegade against the Citadel. Afterwards they continued to Langelinie and here Frederik also gave an interview. The hour and a half long documentary about Denmark will be sent in November or December in China. The camera crews started their recordings when Margrethe and Henrik earlier this year visited China.
The magazine noticed how very proud Frederik looked when he showed off his country and city. He responded with joy in his voice at all the many questions from the reporters, pointing eagerly out the many things at the harbor when they made a stop at Langelinie (also where Mary lived shortly before she and Frederik moved together).
Picture of Frederik the city guide:

Kronprins Frederik som cykelguide - Her og Nu

I usually don't buy Her&Nu, but we always have the weekly magazines at my workplace, so I'll take a look at it and post the article and the pictures some time tomorrow...

Great pics I am sure the doco will be well received in China. You should get a great influx of tourists from this doco. Especially as the ladies will think Fred is such a handsome prince. Also it looks like they brought there own camera bike with them to make the documentary.

Now for something amusing.
The satirical yearly Blæksprutten (The Octopus) is closing after 125 years, and one of the last to be lovingly charicatured in the booklet is Frederik (and Mary): http://www.bt.dk/sites/default/files...blksprutte.jpg
The reason for naming Frederik the Blæksprutte (octopus) of the Year is: The choice of Crown Prince Frederik is a natural to the jury, who see our Crown Prince as a man you can cope at sea and who master the noble art of multi-tasking...When the Crown Prince therefore recieve the honor it's not least because he has always been an aquatic animal.
It is however true that Crown Princess Mary is an Aquarious but His Royal Highness has been a frogman and allegedly a penguin and he is and will remain an octopus. Not only does he have to joggle with a not insignificant flock of children, which takes a toll on any man, he also have a number of official duties to attend.

Well, it's loving satire.
However, I've always thought Blæksprutten to be a bit dull. I prefer another old Yearly satirical booklet, Svikmøllen. Their satire and charicatures have much more bite and are more funny.
It was in Svikmøllen many years ago, right after the intruder into QEII's bedroom, that they featured a a cartoon of two smug looking police officers standing in the door to QMII's bedroom, with QMII in the bed (with a cigarette of course) holding PH between them. One of the officers saying: "Your Majesty, we have apprehended an immigrant trying to sneak into your bedchamber".

Thanks Muhler
Kongehuset is covering the 'Årets Blæksprutte' loving satire as well
- and has published a new picture of Frederik:
Årets Blæksprutte - Kongehuset
"The choice of Crown Prince Frederik is a natural to the jury, who see our Crown Prince as a man you can cope at sea and who master the noble art of multi-tasking... When the Crown Prince therefore recieve the honor it's not least because he has always been an aquatic animal.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik has with determination, charm and huge talent pursued all these diverse tasks. This year's Octopus is the last one. Therefore, we are particularly pleased that the year Octopus is Crown Prince Frederik."
