Yes it is - scooters are mainly used as children's toys here in the UK, but adults can also use them. Micro Scooters have made a special scooter which has been adapted for adults. I used to own a scooter similar to that one as a child, but in purple. We would call the second vehicle a moterbike, and the third one a bicycle/bike. :flowers: It's interesting to see how words differ in other languages.

Thank you, HereditaryPrincess & Tundra :flowers:

Yes, it is really interesting. In DK such a scooter, for adults as well as children, is called a "løbehjul = running-wheel".
They've been using them in hospitals and such places, since at least the early 70's.

You're welcome Muhler, and thanks for the extra information about scooters. AFAIK they've been around over here since the 50s/60s and possibly longer (I don't know, I wasn't around then!), my aunt said that she fell off one when she was a child.

The massage thing - is that something we've learned from you Aussie's anti-bullying programme as well? Or is it a local developement?

Sorry Muhler,

I don't know any little Aussie ankle-biters to ask about this, so maybe it's from the original anti-bullying program - or maybe Denmark has added it.

Best Wishes, Sun Lion.

The information is correct!

I actually wrote to BB (yes i did;)) and asked them kindly if they could confirm the information about the Crown Prince family's summer cruise. I have just got this response back:

"Yes, can you be sure that we can confirm that. The Crown Prince Couple will take on summer cruise with Dannebrog to Greenland this summer. We look SO much forward to follow along on the trip and we guess that there will be lots of fantastic pictures of Frederik, Mary and their four children in the beautiful surroundings - and perhaps national costumes? Exciting! Best wishes from the editors."

Thanks Roskilde for contacting BB and having the information confirmed.

This is really great, we can expect to see some wonderful photos of the family. Yes, I wonder if the children will be given national costumes that would be so lovely to see the whole family in the national costumes. I look forward to this summer tour.

:previous: Indeed it has.

However, since the programme of the trip is still in the planning phase, very little is known and it's unlikely the whole programme will be published until July.
Also in Greenland you are really dependant on wind and weather and you need to have a back-up plan ready.

What is known is that they will visit the town of Uummannaaq and perhaps the town of Ilulissat.

M&F and family will fly to Greenland to rendezvous with Dannebrog and her escort ship.

So basically the whole article is one big perhaps, possibly and presumably.

Frederik and Joachim visited Greenland for the first time in 1982.

The visit will last for two weeks in the beginning of August, that is just prior to schools starting in August.

It is almost certain that a dogsleigh ride is on the schedule. That will be a first for all four children.
It is also practically certain that M&F and their children will take a couple of days for themselves. Perhaps they'll go trekking in the low mountains near the coast.
Apart from that, we can expect the visit to be like any other official visit to Greenland by the DRF. It's basically a normal summercruise, just in Greenlandic waters and surrounded by ice.
Another certainty is that we will see M&F in Greenlandic national costumes. I know Christian was presented with such a costume a year or two ago.
I will expect Bella to also be presented with her own costume. But costumes for girls are expensive and labour intensive, more so than for women, because girls grow.
Whether the twins Minik and Ivalo will also wear national costumes is more doubtful I think.
As the twins have had a foundation named after themselves, the Ivalo and Minik Foundation, I think we can expect something involving that as well.

- I will suggest you visit the Joachim and our Marie thread. They visited Greenland a couple of years ago with Nikolai and Felix and what they did, may be a good indication of what M&F will do with their children.

It's the BB journalist Ulrik Hemmingway... sorry, Ulrik Ulriksen, who wrote the article and his style is famous or infamous for being somewhat flowery and I cannot resist giving you this sample: ".... shortly before the CP couple get on an airplane and soar towards Greenland - perhaps on a little pink cloud of dreams of great expectations". - Yeees, I shall resist any temptation to comment. :p

Hello all,

Re: scooters. I first is called a scooter here. There are also more sturdy old fashioned ones. The second is also called a scooter but the third is sometimes called a moped. Aghh language!

Very exciting about the Greenland summer cruise with the children. Very much looking forward to following it's progress.

Well done Roskilde for contacting BB!

IIRC then "The three little Princesses" (QMII, PssB and QA-M) was presented with greenlandic costumes when they were about the age that Pss Isabella has now. Pss B and QA-M a little bit younger. Perhaps Pss Isabella will wear the costume of Pss Benedikte and Pss Josephine the one of QA-M :)

EDIT: Found a photo: http://copenhagenet.dk/Images/Amalb-Fred-9.jpg
And now I see that the costume of QA-M will fit Pss Isabella best, so perhaps a new one will be made for Pss Josephine :)

More Edit: A page containing the DRF (1952) in greenlandic costumes: http://glucksburg.blogspot.dk/2013/11/greenland-national-attire-frederik-ix.html

You are right, FasterB.
Just a little refitting needed. So we can expect to see the whole family in national costumes.

However, I think the Greenlanders will be most pleased with presenting Bella and her sister Minik with their own suits.
And as children tend to grow (it would be so much easier and cheaper if they grew 15 cm only on Midsummers Day every three years) I think it will be in the very last minute they will be presented with their costumes.

Thanks, LadyRosie. :)

I agree with you, Muhler, that the Greenlanders will present the two princesses with their own costumes. But it could be nice touch if the old one were used - especially since children grows like... you know :D

:previous: Yes Polyesco, the picture is taken today Friday around early afternoon. I guess Frederik had just picked up Christian from school (Isabella likely to have stayed in GFO and picked up later) As I understand it, they visited the studio where the recording sessions for the new movie takes place.

But hey wait, yeah where is Frederik's beard? I guess he has gone into the spring months :p Like the last few years - beard in the winter period, no beard in the summer period..

:previous:thanks fairy tale. :flowers:

Love seeing Frederik (and Mary) doing such normal things, and that they can do so with peace

Thanks Fairytale :flowers:

If there's something we Danes likes - it's this.
That we are a country where even our future king picks up his children from kindergarten on bike.

As the poster writes:
"This is good style!
The Crown Prince was just driving past on his bike with his two children.
Denmark is a nice place!"

:previous: The gates are opened from the inside, I believe. They have also opened automatically the times I have witnessed cars/bikes getting in and out of the various gates.

Great video of Frederik and the twins.

I would assume security personnel inside would see him on cameras and confirm with PET all OK on radio/phone.

At the beginning, In the video it kinda looks like Frederik reaches toward his side pocket/towards the back. Maybe he has a clicker thingy to signal the gate?

Maldives Photos in Oz Mag "New Idea" Today.

Danish Seoghør's cover and two main stories today (magazine published today) is dedicated to Frederik, Mary and the children. They have coming into possession of pictures and information about the family's private trip in late January.

Hi From Australia Roskilde,

One of the main Australian women's magazines - "New Idea" - published these photo in a double-page spread today, (Monday March 10th here), a month after your post.

I'm not sure if they're just behind, or if the news of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge currently being in the Maldives has prompted this.

Flattering article about how CP Mary maintains her fitness etc.

Best Wishes, Sun Lion.

P.S. Any Oz posters who may have missed - or would like to re-watch - the 2011 documentary with CP Mary and the other Royal ladies talking about their Royal jewels - SBS is showing it again. Next episode is next Monday at 1.00pm.

It is a two part series in case some haven't seen it before. I think the first episode was on this past weekend. I have the DVD and it has had a good workout!

There is a thread here on TRF about the program:
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forum...e-royal-jewels-2011-dr-documentary-32248.html

I can well believe you've watched it more than once Lady Rosie.
The pieces themselves are truly beautiful, but having the various Royal ladies speaking about them really makes it an even better documentary - an "inside" look. I missed the original broadcasting, so am glad to have caught up with it now.

The UK's "Daily Mail - Mail Online" currently has the January Maldives photos of the CP Couple's family trip as their second story - after an Australian women's magazine published them yesterday also.

Sudden interest in this month-old story .

Opera House Restaurant Where M & F Lunched Now Just An Empty Building.

Sad news for lovers of the Sydney Opera House - and swanky dining out -

The Bennelong Restaurant at the Sydney Opera House, where the CP Couple had a luncheon function last October, has been vacant since New Year's Eve, and it looks as though it will remain that way.

Plans to develop it as a mid-price bistro have fallen through, and the original chef- when it was very high-end - has declined.

It used to be so beautiful to walk past with all the tables set up - and the napkins folded like the Opera House itself.

After M and F were there, it looked like a storage unit with everything piled up along the windows for all to see.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #11, 2014.
Written by Marianne Singer.

Last Friday afternoon Christian and his dad visited the settings of the movie Antboy 2, which wil be in the theatres at some point.
It's about a twelve year old boy, who after being bitten by an ant developes super powers, but it's not easy being an ordinary boy with super powers, and that's the essense of the movie. (My daughter have seen it, but being the ripe old age of twelve herself she thought it was a bit childish and all boys are childish anyway, so...).
Christian and Frederik didn't go alone. They were accompanied by Frederik's good friend, Jakob Reese and his two daughters Mathilda and Rebecca, who actually live at the road in the posh part of Copenhagen, Hellerup, where the filming was taking place.
Here the also met the actor playing antboy. Oscar Dietz.
The director, Ask Hasselbach, said to our reporter: "Normally you become a little awed when you meet the royals. But it seemed like it was Christian who was a bit starstruck when he met Antboy, which he is a big fan of. Frederik hasn't seen the movie but Christian has seen it with a mate.
It was quite spontaneous that they quietly dropped by. We spoke for about ten minuttes and afterwards they watch the monitors during the filming".

Antboy will be shown in USA in April.

BB is full of info this week and I've been a little pressed, so bear with me. The summaries wil trickle in over the next couple of day.

I don't think we should expect anything official. A private party no doubt and perhaps a booklet or two and a documentary but that's it.

It will be another matter when they celebrate their copper anniversary in 2½ years from now.
