Surely Joachim's shoes is something Haakon came up with!
Perhaps a present? And Joachim being the perfect gentleman he is, wouldn't dream of hurting Haakon's feelings by not wearing them - Or accidentally incinerating them...

Thank you everyone for the nice pictures. Very windy on the beach in Rio!
That is indeed a nice picture of Miss Athena - her personality is beginning to shine through. A genetically blessed family, to be sure.
Muhler, I think Joachim's shoes were chosen to co-ordinate with Marie's blouse

In that case our Marie must have a very mischievous sense of humor.

I think it is great that Frederik and Mary have done this once again and can understand why it is such a special event for them, and making it a family occasion too!
There's a bit of a gripe going on that the British princes aren't following suit. But why should they? Yes, four years ago where else would they be?!

Brazil?
It's considered a future economic power-house.
Those who are there, get the trade-orders. Those who stay back, don't.

And CP Frederik would be there anyway, as a member of IOC.

Sorry?! Are you serious? I think this is a, how should I put this?... naive question...
One or two princes - what have their attendances in Rio to do with Brazil being a "poor country"?! I don´t think Frederik or Joachim live on brazilian tax payers money during their stay... But even if they did, Brazil wanted these Games, no matter if they´re fit to do so or not. So they knew long, long before that with the Games high profiled guests from around the globe, used to all sorts of luxury, would attend!
By the way, you could ask yourself then (which I don´t!) why both the King and Queen of the Belgians went to Rio and not just one of them...

agree. and Denmark is certainly putting on a strong front with the Danish Pavilion in center and Danish Sustainability days with Frederik coming up.
Use the Olympics and the press it brings to support their commerce and knowledge. It has been a good program so far.
and now Frederik and Mary visiting the Danish athletes
