And also: As the Crown Prince Couple, they do attend many events that Prince Joachim and Princess Marie do not attend.

It's nothing new that the CP couple have more engagements.
But it's a bit unusual that Prince Joachim and Princess Marie didn't attend this one.
I hope all is fine and that they are indeed taking some vacation abroad.

I am not talking about the amount of events that the CPC do compared to Joachim and Marie, but the sort of engagements they do.
The banquet next week would be the sort of event J&M attend, which they do.

Tonight QMII will host a gala dinner for members of the government, members of the Parliament and members of the European Parliament.
Such a dinner takes place, as far as possible, once in a four year government period.
Except for Frederik, all members of the DRF will take part.
And Billed Bladet will send live from the guests arriving from 18.30 and until QMII herself has arrived.
The whole show takes place at Christiansborg and after the dinner, the gusts will have the opportunity to burn off a few calories by dancing les lanciers (a kind of menuet).
After the guests have arrived BB will show the whole thing under the same link so you need not set your alarm clock.

Live from BB now:

It's the venerable Ulrik Ulriksen who is the commentator.
--------------
355 invited guests.
---------------
The DRF members will arrive from 19.15.
That's in 25 minutes after this is posted.
----------------
The last such gala took place in 2014. - Hey! Now he says it was in 2016!?! - I'm confused!
------------------
It was in 2014, Ulrik Ulriksen!
--------------------
Try refresh page, if the quality drops.
-------------
As usual the PM arrived in the last minute...
---------------
The guardsmen are divided into platoons after their height. The platoon with the lowest guardsmen being known as The Smurfs.
--------------------------
Joachim is a very accomplished les lancier dancer. He learned it to perfection in high school, reports our reporter.
----------------
That's it, the show is over. But you can watch the whole thing all over again by using the link above in a few minutes.

Muhler, I have a personal question: Why do you always refer to Prcss Marie as "our Marie"? Is that how she is known to most Danes or is she just a personal favourite of yours? If not so, why don´t you call the CPcss "our Mary"?
I find it interesting that you call a lady that way who lives in Denmark since only 11 years, I think, and not another (native) danish member of your RF.
I was wondering about that for quite a while by now - just curious!

It's an internal joke I've brought with me from another forum. A number of those who were active on that forum are also active here, hence why I keep using it.
Today it has very much become a term of endearment.
Why, I hear you ask. - Well, let's just say that people who are about to become a royal are naturally curious about the world they are entering. And that's as far as I will go on that matter.
AFAIK only Frederik and Joachim have nicknames here in DK: They are Frede and Jokke.
Mary, Benedikte, (our) Marie and even QMII are always referred to by their names. Daisy is reserved for QMII's family and not used by the general public.

Oh, I think Frede is much happier among the veterans in Australia than among 355 politicians and their spouses.

All the ladies looked good tonight but Margrethe looked especially pretty. I’m not even sure what you’d call the colour she’s wearing - pink/orange/peach? - but she looks beautiful in it.
