Very nice that Frederik attended as heir, Mary I assume is making her way back from Senegal .
And Marie being from Paris, even with all her pain it's wonderful that she attended

Crown Prince Frederik to the press:
"What has taken place is a horror and unworthy. And I am obviously affected. My thoughts go to those who have been affected. Naturally, my thoughts go to my family and friends in France, who fortunately were not hit by the attacks," said Crown Prince*Frederik
"I am also affected because I'm half French. But it is not only an attack against France, but the whole world."

As horrible as this terror act is to us living on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, for all you living in Europe this is in your "backyard". I can not even imagine how it has affected your lives and sense of security. The people in Paris, France and all neighboring countries are in our prayers.

Wise words from Frederik, I'm particularly agree with his "tomorrow the sun rises again and we must continue as we did before," otherwise the terror has won over us.

Crown Prince Frederik to the press after the cermony:

"What has taken place is a horror and unworthy. And I am obviously concerned. My thoughts go to those who have been affected and to those who are not here anymore. But it's not just an attack against France, but against the whole world."

I would say the same, as I said after the attacks in Copenhagen. We must continue our way of living and be free in mind and look on the bright side, though that there is someone who want us to do something else. We have to live our life as has been done previously. It's clear that we now are sad. But tomorrow is a new day, and the sun rises again."

Marie is looking impeccable and solemn to demonstrate her respects for the horrific attacks in France.

I agree. I find it comforting when Royals attend such events.

The various members of the DRF's response to the terror attack in Paris is the main story in this weeks issue of BB.
As such I've decided to lump the various articles and write a summary here.

Summary of articles in Billed Bladet #47, 2015.

Prince Henrik, as well as Princess Marie and Prince Joachim went to the French embassy to pay their respect. With them went also, Nikolai, Felix, Henrik and Athena.

Marie said at the embassy: "Is a Frenchman it's very, very difficult to comprehend that it can happen in France - It's just difficult to understand that it can happen anywhere.
Even though Denmark is my home, Paris is the city I was born and it's very special to me. My father, my farmor (paternal grandmother), my brothers, my cousins, my entire family live there. It's only my mother who doesn't live in Paris. So almost every time I'm in Paris I visit my family".

And about going to the French embassy: "But that's the least we can do.
But it's not a question of what country (was hit) but a question of all of us being afflicted by the same problem".

About bringing her children: "I try explain it to them, in my way. They must learn to understand what world we live in. Without frightening them of course".

Saturday Joachim went to Copenhagen Business School to speak to the 430 graduates. He said: "The terrorist attack that is so cowardly and inhuman, touch all of us deeply. But we must try and keep our heads high and never allow terror to bow our heads.
I must nevertheless celebrate, because these cowardly acts shall not be allowed to spoil the day. The terrorists shall not have that victory. And we will remember the dead and wounded by saying: Today we are all French".
Joachim then asked for one minute of silence, before getting a standing ovation from the graduates.

Sunday, Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Marie attended a service at the French Church in Copenhagen.
Marie was for once escorted by PET, I noticed.
Present were also representatives from the official Denmark, from the PM, Lars Løkke down.

Marie was seen crying several times during the service, which was conducted in Danish and French.

While Marie didn't talk to the press, Frederik said afterwards: "What has happened is horrific. It demonized people who have perpetrated an undignified act against all humanity.
My thoughts are with the entire French people. Being half French myself, it's obvious that it affects deeply. - But no matter what country was affected, we would have been with them in our thoughts. It affects us all.
- We must continue our way of life and be free in thoughts and deeds and yes, look at the bright side, regardless that others want something different for us".

QMII send a telegram to the French President expressing her sadness on behalf of the country and the DRF. (There is nothing new in that, but it is AFAIK one of the first time the actual content has been published).
"I ask you to receive my deepest sympathy with the French people in connection with the tragic events in Paris last night.
The Prince Consort and I express our most sincere sympathy with all afflicted - with all of France. In this difficult hour we send the very best wishes for your country".

Thanks
Very beautiful words from Joachim and Frederik.
"We must continue our way of life and be free in thoughts and deeds and yes, look at the bright side, regardless that others want something different for us"
How strong of Marie to attend the mass as well.

I read under the "media section" on the DRF's website that Queen Margrethe and the Crown Prince Couple on Thursday, January 28, will held the annual Navy dinner (Søværnets Hædertegns middag).

There will be a photo opportunity when the Crown Prince couple and guest arrives.

(This is something new that this year we will get pictures of the Crown Prince couple's arrival. Great! In the previous years we have not got any pictures from this annual dinner at all.)

ADDED: Now the press release is in the moment deleted. I guess it will be re-posted again later.

It is now confirmed and re-added on the DRF's homepage

Quote:
"H.M. Queen Margrethe holds a Honour Medal Dinner for Naval Officers.
The Crown Prince Couple participate. Fredensborg Castle on Friday January 29 at 20:00 pm.

The press will have the opportunity to cover the guests and the Crown Prince Couple arriving at Fredensborg Palace by Blue Port, the inner palace courtyard.

Thanks, Roskilde.

That's good news and a new thing. Normally the dinner for recipients of honorary decorations (good and/or long service) are not public.

BTW the DRF are seeking a communications and IT specialist. - And that is not something QMII would come up with!
So IMO Frederik is putting his distinct mark on the DRF administration.

I was actually surprised when I saw that job application from the DRF. And yes, it's certainly not Margrethe who had come up with that. I doubt she even knows what Facebook is? It's another sign of how Frederik (and Mary) quietly but clearly modernizes the DRF and put their modern and folksy touch on it. And it is needed. We see it already with Mary who is on Facebook with her Mary Foundation.

I see the hiring is from May 2016 so we probably shouldn't expect anything before then... It will be interesting.
