Interview with CP Mary on the DR news:
DR Facebook video:

DR article:

Crown Princess Mary:
"Equality for me is not about that a man and a woman should be the same, but that gender should not play a role when life's opportunities and decisions are made."
- The Women's Day is a very important day where we look back and see what we have achieved. And there has been achieved very very much, but it's important that we remain focused on that we can do even better.
Q: How you yourself tried being discriminated because of your gender?
- No, and it is also an important point. I have never experienced being limited in my decisions and my choices in life. But I have seen other women in the world, where they have been limited and it's importance for not only them themselves but also their children, their families and to a greater extent their communities.
* Mary speaks great Danish, almost no accent and she speaks the same speed as a native Dane.

Danish actor Didde Hansen who entertained at the show:
- "First, I think it's super cool Mary is here tonight. I like that... For me, Mary is a rolemodel. As a woman, as a mother, as a career woman. I think the way she manages her position is exemplary."

Nice that they shared this meeting, since it was not mentioned on the calendar.
And a nice note, the picture in the frame behind them seems to be from the "heirs" reunion in Norway two years ago.

According to BB:
Jaha Dukureh revealed in her speech on Thursday that she and Crown Princess Mary first met at Women's Conference 'Women Deliver' in Copenhagen last year, and have become good friends. The Crown Princess became aware of Jaha's work against female genital mutilation in Gambia as she put energy into the same cause in recent years. For the Gambian activist the Crown Princess has become a role model and a source of inspiration.
A lovely picture reflecting that:

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #12, 2017.
Written by the Ulrik Ulriksen.
In connection with her work for women's rights, Mary went to the premiere of the documentary Jaha's Promise, which was shown in a cinema in central Copenhagen.
Mary did cause a few heads to be turned, because she arrived to the cinema on foot and the cinema being located near the main (and very busy) pedestrian street in Copenhagen, she was of course noticed. She was accompanied by her secretary, Christine Pii Hansen. - And no doubt a couple of anonymous gentlemen as well...
The documentary was made by the Gambian activist, Jaha Gukureh, whom Mary met at the conference Women Deliver in Copenhagen last year. Jaha Dukureh is actively working against genital mutilation of women and she and Mary have apparently developed a friendship.
After the film Mary said: "I thought it was a very strong and provocative film. A very, very important film which can help spreading the knowledge of the dangerous custom which (female) circumcision is. We need a better understanding for how we can eliminate that custom in our world within a generation.
It was good to see Jaha again, she's a very admirable woman".
Jaha Dukureh said: "It's so fantastic to be here and meet the Crown Princess again. We met at Women Deliver conference in Copenhagen last year and her work for women's rights is a big inspiration to me. And tonight it's been fantastic to speak with the Crown Princess and sit next to her, while we watched the movie together".
While Jaha Dukureh was presented with flowers inside the cinema and gave a speech, Mary looked after her seven year old daughter, Khadija.
Mary wore a suit from Zara, shoes from Sand Copenhagen and a clutch from Quidam.

After Crown Princess Mary's visit to the Home Guard Command this morning and noon, our Mary continued on to her next official event.
This afternoon she visited Svanevig Hospice:

I'm very fond of Mary puts focus on Denmark's hospice. They deserve it. They give life back to many. Believe it or not. ❤
ADDED:
TV2 News had a longer feature about Mary's visit at the hospice in tonight's news. I will se if they publish it online...

Her visit to the hospice in it's own makes me happy, but what I noticed: The whole day was filled with official tasks for our crown princess, but noticed how she - as always - goes straight past her car when she should go home - and wakled out to all the people who stood behind the barriers to see her.
Here she - as always - gave her good time to give hands and warmly greet everyone before she finally could drive home."
|
I have before written about that. Something Mary is beloved for and very good at. To always remember the people who have waited for hours maybe. Not something all the members of DRF are good at...
