Thanks Roskilde & Iceflower. :flowers:

I could not resist commenting on these pics:

Christian does not seem that appreciative of mother getting his hair under control - in public.
That's the wonderful thing about children, at some point they get old enough to feel really embarrassed by their parents. Payback for all the nights they've kept us up while wailing their heads off! :D

Looks like Josephine has a friend among the crowds. There are several pics of her waving in this way.

Wonder what happened here? Someone fell off the horse in the infamous pond?

[DNF] Fotoarchief Denieuwsfoto
Horses in the distance... big deal! Where's the action?

And a more sobering and unfortunately common sight these years at major crowd events.

I hope he is okay now and I wish him a speedy recovery.
I understand the man was knocked out, but regained consciousness within moments. He was apparently hit in the chest by a horse and probably stomped upon. He has been undergoing checks at the hospital, just in case there are serious internal injuries.
So I guess he's pretty bruised and perhaps got a cracked rib or two and a concussion.
He was supposed to be there, being an official, but what on earth he was doing in the path of galloping horses I don't know.
But injuries do happen when there are large animals around.

ADDED:

Update on the condition of the man: https://www.bt.dk/danmark/voldsom-ulykke-for-oejnene-af-mary-og-boernene-saadan-har-manden-det-nu
He was an official who for whatever reason found himself in the middle of the path of galloping riders. Horses, being smart, instinctively try to avoid riding into people. The rider in question was actually the winner of the hunt and she and her horse tried to veer off to one side to avoid riding the man down, unfortunately in an attempt to get away he stepped in the same direction.
He is left with a concussion, but otherwise fine.

ADDED AGAIN: Her ryger rytterne i vandet til Hubertusjagten - TV 2
One of the crowd pleasers are the riders riding through the infamous Magazine Pond. The really brazen riders ride through with one hand on the reins. But this year it seems quite a few fell off. - To the delight and applause by the crowd. (Safer to land in the water than on the ground at the other obstacles.)
Notice the official in the background stopping the oncoming riders, when someone falls off in the pond. - No wonder accidents happen!

That's awful news about the injured official. He was trying to move spectators out of the way of the approaching horses? Why were they all so close to start with?
In any event, I hope the poor guy's ok.

It's usually safe enough. That was actually after the race had finished. The riders were galloping towards the Hermitage Slot for the presenting of the prize.
But it has happened that people have brought along dogs and they run away, sometimes across the path of the riders. (That happens at cycling too!) Or some idiot decided to have a selfie...
Out on the range there is a considerable distance between the riders, who are going at full speed and the spectators and at the pond the speed is moderate, so there is little danger.

Riding is a dangerous sport. When you sit on top of one of the largest land-animals on the planet, accidents are bound to happen.

Always such a lovely event, that I'm sure the family enjoys. A nice traditional event that seems to be well attended. Love seeing the interactions between the siblings.

Love these ones of the kids and the winners and staff

The rider does look a bit absentminded. No wonder since she was the one hitting the official. No doubt she's thinking about how he's doing. And very likely she know him personally.

That's a cute one! And in contrast to her older brother, she clearly doesn't mind.
And I notice it will be a while before Vincent can yell: "Run, cows"! - It'll be "Run, cowfff" for a while.

Yes accidents can occur anytime, thankfully the man is doing better. The family has enjoyed this event over the years.

And the inevitable article from Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...cess-Mary-family-witness-horror-accident.html

Full of errors. The man didn't fall from a horse.
The Hubertus Hunt does not mark the end of the hunting season. The hunting season has AFAIK not even begun yet. It marks the end of the horse-racing season for these particular riders.
The race is 11 km long.

It's obvious the children love the event, this year's accident notwithstanding. I think it's great that Mary and Frederik take the kids to appropriate events and outings as a matter of course - they are a royal FAMILY, after all.

The kids are growing up quickly. Christian and Isabella, in particular, all of a sudden seem very grown up and poised to me compared to say, a year ago.

Are you sure that Christian hasn't reached that stage where he wants to look cool and his Mother is actually messing with both him and his hair?

It's really nice to see that the DM maintains its razor-sharp perception of something of which they know little or nothing and report with their usual attention to detail . . . I mean it's hard to differentiate between two legs and a man and four legs and a horse!

Sorry, I assumed this was the hunting event with gruesomely slaughtered animals.

:previous: Oh my, those children are changing every time we see them! They do seem to enjoy this event. Good to know the official isn't seriously injured.

Re the hunt: I thought it was to coincide with the feast day of St. Hubert, which is on Nov. 3. He is the patron saint of hunters and hunting.

And CP Mary is enjoying every moment being the "embarrassing" mum! I will be doing the same when both my sons are Christian's age ????

:previous:yes, do not stop touching your sons!
Lovely picture of the family. Isabella seems to be really horse mad. They continue to do a wonderful job with the children

That may be. In fact that may very well be! But it's still a "mum! It ain't funny"! :D

It is certainly named after the saint. But AFAIK it also the end of the riding season for these mostly "hobby-riders".

The Hubertus Hunt is always (since 1900) on the first Sunday in November. Since it originally was a fox-hunt this day was probably indeed chosen because the first Sunday usually is around the feast day of St.Hubert, though rarely on the 3rd itself.

The DRF has published a few more of Mary's own lovely pictures she took of the children during the the Hubertus hunt yesterday :flowers:

Yesterday, November 10, Crown Princess Mary attended a meeting of the Gender Diversity Roundtable Denmark at the UN City in Copenhagen:

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #45, 2017.
Written by our man at the horses, Henrik Salling.

As you know, Mary and the children went to the Hubertus Hunt to watch the some 150 riders competing on the cross country course that is 11 (as in eleven, Daily Mail!) km long.

The highlight of the show is of course the infamous Magazine Pond, where riders hopefully don't fall off and end up in the cold water. - The horses actually leap into the shallow pond, rather than over an obstacle and then landing in a pond. - This year one person fell of. And that person happened to be a friend of M&F, Mette Ahlefeldt-Laurvig from Tranekær Manor, where M&F have been often. (See the general residence thread).
After the run Mary went to comfort her somewhat soaked friend.

The Hubertus Hunt has taken place since 1900 and it marks the last "jagt" of the year. - The word "jagt" means hunt, and it also means chase.

There is a photo of Vincent in the article I think most of you will like. ?

But see for yourselves here: BB #45, 2017
The photo of PH in the Royal Theater article is not a recent photo.

And while we are at it, here is a better-late-than-never issue from week 36: BB #36, 2017

Crown Princess Mary visited the organisation Neighbourhood Mothers yesterday, November 28. The Neighbourhood Mothers are primarily women of ethnic minority backgrounds who volunteer in the local area to support other women:

Thanks Iceflower :flowers:

What a nice visit!
And yet another unofficial visit for F&M.
