Today, Crown Princess Mary was responsible for the official opening of the European Conference IDAHO (for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and inter-sexual people) at Admiral Hotel, Copenhagen.
Beautiful Mary in the Danish summer wheater

As you can see in the pictures (and Mary's summer glow) Denmark is these days (actually the last week) hit by a wonderful summer weather. 22-25 degrees and sunshine from a cloudless sky. It is fantastic.
(And only 14 days ago it we had snow... That's typical Denmark...)

Mary is good to be in eye contact with her audience when she speaks to them. And when a large support beam filled right in front of the stage Mary took a solution quickly.
- I can change sides along the way, said Mary cheerfully.
Then Mary switched from one side of the stage to the other while she held her speech.

And for once Daily Mail actually write about what she is doing - while dressed in...
It really isn't that hard, is it?
Kongehusekspert om udtalelse fra Mary under konference: 'Det er et meget stærkt signal'
BT has an article about the things Mary said in her speech at the IDAHO conference.
"I have difficulty accepting that some people in our society are being met with intolerance and discrimination due to their sexuality or gender-identity.
All people are created free and and equal in regards to dignity and rights regardless of sexual orientation and gender-identity. But for way too many around the world that statement is not true".
The DRF expert Lars Hovbakke Sørensen, who is always dusted off and asked in regards to the DRF, says that she is sending a strong signal on behalf of herself and Denmark, when she says that.
- That she is, and it cannot be labelled controversial because what she says is in line with the official policy of the Parliament. So she is DK's official voice in this matter.
Nice pics in the article though: http://a.bt.bmcdn.dk/media/cache/res...930-asdrfa.jpg

Yesterday, Mary opened the confenrence about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and inter-sexual people's rights and gave the opening speech.
A speech she gets high praise for.
"I find it hard to accept that some people in our society are met with intolerance and discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity," said Crown Princess Mary.
"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, "said Crown Princess Mary.
The Danish royal expert Lars Hovbakke Sørensen tells BT that the Crown Princess presents as a very modern Crown Princess with strong positions in the area.
"It is a very strong signal when the Danish Crown Princess goes out and marks her own and Denmark's position on something like this. And it's something that can be used internationally, when fighting for their rights."
Lars Hovbakke Sørensen is sure this is not the last time we see Crown Princess Mary in contexts as Wednesday's IDAHO conference.
"She is a very modern Crown Princess and she has very new and modern views, "says Sørensen.

After a member suggestion, the moderators discussed creating a new thread for Mary's work for women's rights - all previous discussion from this thread on the topic (including the upcoming Women Deliver conference) can be found here:

TV2 has a segment tonight on the late news about the Honduran President, who attended the conference and took part in the dinner with M&F at Amalienborg.
Apparently the president and his regime is thoroughly corrupt and Honduras the country with the biggest difference between rich and poor in the world.
As such the president's visit to DK has been criticized by Hondurans and human rights organizations who believe it was a political goof to invite him and that the DRF, since Mary was patron for the conference also goofed.
The conference was however backed by the Ministry of Employment and the Region for Copenhagen.
A member of the opposition, Nik Hækkerup, appeared in the segment voicing his criticism.
- And that annoys me! Nik Hækkerup is a member of a political family and he knows just as well as everybody else, that's it's the government who advise the DRF in sensitive and diplomatic issues. He also know that a foreign head of state out of courtesy will visit the head of state of DK, i.e. QMII or as in this case be invited to dinner with the CP-couple.
It's annoying when politicians use the DRF to tease the government. Who are then forced to either go out and defend the DRF, taking then blame themselves or stay silent and abandon the DRF.
Even more annoying is it that had the former government won the last general election, Nik Hækkerup would very likely be a minister in the government who had allowed the Honduran President to be invited, because this fashion summit wasn't planned last month.

Kronprinsesse Mary skal være gudmor | BILLED-BLADET
Come Monday. Mary will name a ship in Copenhagen. A chemical tanker to be exact.
This may not sound particularly sexy, but the tanker, just like several other ships named by Mary (and Isabella), is designed to be as fuel-efficient as possible. Which is in line with in particular Frederik's focus on the environment.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #23, 2016.
Written by medicus extraordinaire the Ulrik Ulriksen.
Recently Mary opened the EMS2016 conference in Copenhagen. The conference is basically an ER-conference i.e. about first responders, hospitals, paramedics and onlookers when there is a critical medical emergency.
As such she was very appropriately received by four year old Elvira, who back in 2012 got a piece of apple stuck in her throat. She couldn't breathe and as such her heart stopped. Had it not been for her nanny who called 112 (911) and was guided through CPR until the paramedics arrived, Elvira would have died.
And that story was part of what Mary said in her opening speech.
The conference was attended by some 1.000 researchers, specialists and doctors and paramedics etc. Who in particular debated how to make even more ordinary people competent in first aide. The problem being that many people are hesitant about interfering for fear of doing more harm than good.
Mary was praised by the organizers for putting focus on this issue.
Before leaving Mary was invited inside an ambulance to learn how they deal with a medical emergency en route to the ER.
- There has for years been a campaign here in DK encouraging people to learn CPR and indeed most of the population now have at least a good idea about what to do. But it's not enough IMO, I believe it should be mandatory for all between 15-70 do learn first aide every five years, and that should be state funded. It's a good investment. A fire-fighting course should also be mandatory.
Not least because procedures change and so does the circumstances.
Apart from being a medic in the army I've taken quite a few such courses over the past 35 years and there is a huge difference between then and now!
Back in the 80's there were no mobiles, so you were pretty much left on your own, until eventually an ambulance could be called. Nowadays it's way more simplified.
It's good if M&F would become advocates for learning CPR.

 thank you Muhler.
Very important to highlight the work of the emergency responders.
Would Frederik have learned cpr in his many years with the military? I remember a picture of Mary with a cpr dummy in her training with the home guard

it would be great if they continue to put the focus on this

Tonight (actually right now) Crown Princess Mary attends the Annual Reumert Award presentation. The Opera House, Copenhagen.
Video of a very lovely looking and delightful Mary in a yellow Spring colored dress and curly hair arriving to the Opera House:
