The Ministry of Transportation has announced that a new bridge will named after Mary.
After a public vote a new bridge over Roskilde Fjord will be named Kronprinsesse Marys bro = Crown Princess Mary's bridge.
The bridge will be placed next to the current bridge, named Kronprins Frederiks Bro - after Frederik IX.
The bridge will open in 2019 - and presumably opened by Mary. - Should M&F have become king and queen by then, it should be no big problem changing the name to Dronning Marys Bro.
It's the first time in 15 years a bridge was named here in DK, and that was the Øresund Bridge between DK and Sweden.
However the last time a bridge was named after a member of the DRF was back in 1963, when a bridge was named Frederik IXs Bro.

Thank you for always valuable information, Muhler.
Nice the bridge will be named after Mary. Definitely an honor. I didn't knew it was so long since Denmark last had a bridge named after someone. It will be one of the larger events.
So in 2019 us here in Roskilde will have a Crown Prince Frederik's Bridge and a Crown Princess Mary's bridge

Another short article on Mary getting a bridge.
What a nice honor for her, especially since they could have gone to another DRF member
kronprinsesse Mary får egen bro| billedbladet.dk
"The new bridge will curiously enough to lie next to Crown Prince Frederik's Bridge. The old bridge is named after the former Crown Prince Frederik and not Crown Princess Mary 47-year-old better half.
- That's a nice name for a bridge, and it's a little funny that Crown Princess Mary Bridge now come to lie next to a Crown Prince Frederik's Bridge, although it is a former Crown Prince Frederik, as the old bridge in Frederikssund is named for, says Transport and Building"

M&F are going to cross the new bridge (as well as the old one) most of the the time they are driving from Fredensborg to Jutland, especially Trend. It's right on the route to the ferry.
So to the children it will be driving on "mors bro = mother's bridge".

The rice was from the first harvest since the Japanese tsunami in March 2011 - a significant gift considering the damage caused to the area following the disaster.
The 47-year-old Prince visited the area in 2011 - a visit that had impacted him greatly.
The rice was harvested following the restoration of the area, which was destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami that took many lives. "

Right now, our Crown Princess Mary turns on the lighting of the Christmas tree at Copenhagen City Hall Square:
Here the first glimpse and words from a Dane present which again speaks volumes about Mary and why she and Frederik are so popular among the people:
"Mary came and said Merry Christmas to me and all the other people"

Video from BB:
VIDEO: Kronprinsesse Mary satte fut i julefesten på Rådhuspladsen | BILLED-BLADET
A nice video from EB:
http://www.avisen.dk/mary-taender-ju...en_357891.aspx
Where we can hear the Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, can't count to 10 He simply had to count down from 10 to 1 with Mary and she would then turns on the lights on the big tree, but...
- 8, 9, 10, 6, he began.
Then he realized he had count wrong. Oh sorry he laughed:
- "Let's start from the beginning again. 9, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...." Not noticing he again counted in the wrong order. And Mary? She simply gave up trying to count along
Both himself, Mary and the people got a good laugh about that

Thanks, Roskilde.
I wonder if the tree will survive. We have a storm going across the country right now, with gusts of strong hurricane force.
If the weatherman on TV2 was right, you are going to be hit bad in an hour or two in Roskilde.
Fortunately people have received plenty of warning, yet there are still idiots who can't understand why the bridges and forests are closed. Sometimes...

Thank you for the picture and video links, Roskilde! Mary looks beautiful and the pictures of her greeting everyone are just lovely. Also I can't believe Frank Jensen couldn't count to ten, honestly what a let down

My thoughts exactly. The massive Christmas tree didn't survive the storm Bodil in 2013. Perhaps they had been better off postponing the whole palaver a couple of days or four

One more nice video where the Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, for the second time counts wrong down from 10 Mary had a good laugh like the rest of the crowd and she had to wait patiently before she could turn on the lights on the tree

I can assure you we have been hit here in Roskilde now. Doors and windows are shaking It must have hit Copenhagen now as well. I hope Mary's big Christmas tree will be still standing on Copenhagen City Hall Square when we woke up tomorrow.

Weeeell, I'm not a Copenhagener but some might claim that the mayor, Frank Jensen's inability to count is consistent with the way he handles the budget.
Of course I wouldn't say such a thing, perish the thought...
