Are statistics prepared for the number of public engagements the Danish royals carry out, as is done for the Brits?

The short answer is no. You can check the Danish Royal Family Annual Report - there is an English version - but I don't remember any information about the number of engagements.

You're right, it does not state how many events the Danish royals have over a year. But it's not so difficult to figure out (it just takes time) - it's just going through the entire calendar from January to December. And so does some journalists once in a while, but that only makes you able to see the official (out of the house) events. Mary is usually high on the list of most events in a year, but have had some months of maternity leave in the last years.
I remember the critical magazine SeogHør did a count at the beginning of this year. They counted the days and figured out how much money the royals got per day. Mary was the one who received the least per day in relation to number of events in a year. The Queen was the one who received the most per day in relation to number of events. But IMO you can't do it in that way as the Queen has a bigger staff to pay, etc.. I can't remember the exact figures (will try to find the article...) but it was something like this:
Frederik: 110 events
Mary: 100 events
Margrethe: 90-100 events (all weekly's audience included)
Henrik: 60 events
Joachim: 60 events
Marie: 30-40 events

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #46, 2013.
Mary og de unge brude - Mary and the young brides.
Written by Ulrik Ulriksen.
Having returned back from Australia Mary went to see the exhibition Too Young To Wed, in Copenhagen by the photographer Stephanie Sinclair.
The controversial exhibition depicts girls, down to the age of six, who are being married - usually without any influence on the matter whatsoever.
As you can tell from the picture below, it was a serious Mary who watched the photographs of girls from Yemen, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and India.
Mary also took part in a meeting in UNPFA at Copenhagen University, where the topic were women's rights and reproductive health.
Our reporter spoke to Princess Mabel's adjutant during the meeting in Malaysia where both Mary and Mabel were present. And the adjutant told that the women had indeed discussed the topic of child brides, which is very high on the agenda for Princess Mabel.

Mary is now listed as attending the open world conference tomorrow.
"HRH The Crown Princess participates in the opening of the international conference "An Open World: Science, Technology and Society in the light of Niels Bohr's thoughts." University of Copenhagen, Ceremonial Hall, Our Lady's Square, at. 9.00."
I believe it was originally Frederik who was suppose to attend. I wonder if he is ill or if something else came up, I know he is currently regent and had an audience on Monday.

thank you for interesting info.. but yeah it is most likely frederik suffering from the flu like so many other of us danes in the recent weeks, including myself, i have been in bed the last two days with the flu :/
maybe mary will be afsked today?
anyway i like how frederik&mary is good at helping each other instead of just cancel an event if they get sick or something it is a fine way to do it.
