That's do cool Wombat! What a delight to see her so informally.

Well, we saw Mary :lol::lol:! We were walking down the waterside to Amalienborg Palace on Sunday morning and I saw a person just like Mary in joggingclothes doing some stretches. She was sort of hiding away in a little sidelane. I recognized Ziggy first and then Mary.....:ohmy:she politely smiled at us and kept on running. She looks a lot smaller then I thought ( but then I'm 1.83m) and extremely fit and toned! It made our day as it was such an off chance to be in the right place at the right time, lot's of fun!;):lol:

Oh!!!!! How lucky you are!! Continue, you might be lucky again, and please tell us all!!;)

As you may know Mary opened the sun campaign, something Mary has campained actively for for years, on behalf of the Cancer Association.
That took place in the Experimentarium in Copenhagen: Mary: Nu beskytter Frederik sig - Royale | www.bt.dk

Very high res pic of Mary and her skin: http://www.bt.dk/sites/default/files-dk/node-images/133/5/5133519-.jpg

Afterwards she was asked whether her campaigning has had an effect of Frederik. (Danish men are not that attentive when it comes to protecting our skin against the sun. We really can't be bothered with trivialities like sunlotion, unless applied by a voluptuous woman, like say Kim Kardashian).
Mary laughed: "It's about repeating, repeating and repeating". And it hasn't been easy convincing Frederik, she added.

It's another matter with the children. They always wear sun lotion when going out into the sun.
"They are used to it. They know it's important to protect their skin".

Q: Can you get the Crown Prince to use sun lotion?
Mary: "He has become much, much better. Difinetely".

Q: And you have a stake in that?
Mary: "Yes. It's that repetition thing", replied Mary tounge in cheek.

Well, there hasn't been much use for sun lotion lately and there won't be any need for any for some time yet. So we Danes litterally look like this:

On a serious note. The main problem is the late teens to mid twenties. They are the most eager to roast themselves in the sun. Ensuring employment for cancer specialists in the future as well.

May 30, 2012. 12 families will be able to live in the house while their child is at hospital.

Crown Princess Mary has unveilled a new portrait of herself made by artist Gugger Petter, May 31, 2012.
The painting will be shown at The Museum of National History (Fredriksborg Castle) in Hillerod this summer.

The portrait reminds me a bit of Princess Caroline of Monaco's daughter Charlotte Casiraghi ;)

Not a bad portrait of Mary at all.
Is this going to stay at the National museum and any reason why a new portrait was done? How often are new portraits done?

A beautiful portrait, but it resembles Rachel McAdams more than Mary, especially the eyes.

thank you iceflower!
That´s very nice portrait of Mary. I agree with Artemisia, it realy resembles Rachel McAdams.

Great outfit for Mary but how many portraits of herself has she unveiled in recent times? Its getting a bit much.

AFAIK Mary unveiled 3 portraits of herself, one in April 2006 and 2 this year. Then there is the Australian portrait from 2005 which she did not unveil herself.
As I understand it this portrait was commissioned by the National Museum, just like the one in 2006.

wow i would like to see all of them!!!!

Would it kill someone to paint a traditional court portrait of the Crown Princess?!

This painting is agreeable, but something with an defineable prestige and presence would be wonderful.

For me I see the Aussie portrait as a traditional one but that just me.

:previous: You said it. 'Aussie' portrait. It isn't Danish and does not reside in Denmark which is why I think one should be commissioned of Mary at court, dripping in diamonds, with the Order of the Elephant and looking every bit the Crown Princess.

Contemporary art is good, I like it, but it can get a bit 'much' when it's the only style that's being employed.

Thanks for the pics, Iceflower. :flowers:

I think the artist captured the particular expression Mary has in her eyes well.

It's difficult to explain. Slightly melancholic I'd say and so is the expression in Frederik's eyes, just more melancholic.

it was stated on the official calendar that Frederik and Mary were going to attend the Denmark vs. Australia soccer game today, June 2nd.

I was on ESPN sports here in the US and they wrote about princess Mary and her loyalty not being tested in front of the Danes since Denmark won 2-0.

"The result ensured that Princess Mary, who was in the crowd at Parken Stadium, did not have to worry about her loyalty being tested in front of her subjects."

i thought this was funny that she was mentioned in a sports article

- ESPN Soccernet

Mary left the match before the second half because she and Frederik were attend Fritz Schur's 60th birthday party. Christian stayed till the match was over.

Great surprise indeed. Christian must of had a great time. Any idea why Frederik couldn't make it?

I thought Mary would attend the friendly between Denmark and Australia. Of course, Denmark won.

Nice that Christian went along as well and scored a Socceroo's jersey.

Frederik didn't attend Schur's birthday party as well. My guess: he was ill.

Yes, a nice surprise. Christian certainly looked excited when they arrived. Pleased that he was given his own little Socceroos jersey
They just showed Mary on the early news, at the match, she looked lovely.

Maybe it's the way he's dressed but Christian seems so grown up all of a sudden. Hope he had a good time at the game.
