The message from the Queen and the Crown Prince Couple:
"Tonight we have received the shocking news about the serious incidents in Copenhagen earlier today.
We do not yet know the full extent of the tragedy, but it is already clear that more people have lost their lives and that even more have been injured.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with the victims, their relatives and all those affected by the tragedy.
The situation calls for unity and care, and we would like to thank the police, the emergency services and the health authorities for their prompt and effective action during these hours."

And you can see Frederik and Christian on this link https://www.dr.dk/drtv/kanal/20875
In half an hour after this is posted.
I think it's very appropriate that Christian attends. He is the future and he represents the younger. That shopping center was very popular among people in his age-range and indeed a number of the killed and wounded were teens.
It's not a pleasant job, but Christian might just as well learn and I think it will be very appreciated. And perhaps Christian asked to go?

Unfortunately the link is not available outside Denmark. Is it news coverage?

 For videos try dr.dk bt,dk and tv2.dk
Frederik and Christian have arrived.
The ceremony will last about half an hour and culminate in a minutes of silence.
The mayor of Copenhagen will give a speech and so will the PM.
There will be a few soothing songs as well.
Live link from BT https://www.bt.dk/samfund/live-tv-mi...hed-ved-fields
Frederik and Christian are standing in front of the scene, to the far lefto f the screen.

And he has Frederik there to gently guide him through it (which is NOT something Frederik had alot of IMO)...but I digress.
I am sure that the presence of the DRF is appreciated.

Frederik and Christian said a few words to the press as they were leaving - Christian first, which I think was a nice touch.
Both expressed sympathy for the victims and their families and found the ceremony moving.

Wow...talk about perfect on-the-job training for Christian.
It's good training for him and he did well.

That was very sweet for Christian to speak first. They both did well. Frederik looked proud of Christian.

In the video you can see that Christian was looking to Frederik to speak first..obviously deferring to his father...but then Frederik deferred to Christian to answer first. He did well in what is never an easy type of event. I don't know what he said but he sounded poised. He was obviously prepared by his parents about what he would be asked.

Christian spoke first because he was asked first. And he was unsure if he should talk before his father. I don't think it was sweet of the media people to ask the 16 year old first. They were probably hoping for something they could turn into a story. But Christian was well prepared.

This is what Christian said:
Det er smukt og meget flot, at vi kan stå herude i dag. Jeg har mange følelser med familierne, og jeg håber, de kommer stærkt igennem det.
"It's beautiful and a very good thing that we can stand out here today. I have many feelings with the families and I hope they get through it strong."
Translated from teenage lingo to more adult lingo, Christian meant "... And I hope they recover as well as possible."
I don't think Christian was prepared to make a statement and certainly not as the first one. I think he would have expected for his father to reply as the first one and then added to/build on that reply.
I actually think the answer was more authentic and more sincere because he replied like a teenager.
Still a good answer though. he isn't the dullest knife in the drawer.
You can see the video here, but it's difficult to hear him though. But the reply is transcribed in the article.

Thank Muhler.
I think Christian did quite well considering the event. Addressing press questions at events like this sometimes is not even easy for an adult with much more experience. Some working royals can barely address the press at all. Plus, I agree, he was surprised to be asked a question first (a little sneaky and deliberately a bit underhanded if you ask me). But I think he did well. And like you said, it was authentic and relatable to the young people around his age as well (if that make sense). I thought he did a good job. IMO, I think we are going to start to see him at more events going forward (as his schooling permits)...his more serious on-the-job training has begun IMO. Frederik and Mary I think want to ensure that Christian is taught and guided much better than Frederik was at that age.
