A special tomorrow for Frederik.
"HRH Crown Prince receives Wednesday, November 18, 2015 the first rice harvest since the earthquake in 2011 as a gift from the city of Higashi-Matsushim in Japan."

Gave fra byen Higashi-Matsushima i Japan - Kongehuset

"Japan was March 11, 2011 hit by an earthquake and shortly after a tsunami that claimed many lives and injuries, the Crown Prince visited shortly after the disaster stricken area around Higashi-Matsushima, and the Crown Prince's visit is still remembered by many Japanese with gratitude.

The city of Higashi-Matsushima and agriculture in the local area was hit hard by the tsunami, but in 2015 became the first rice since the disasters planted and harvested. In gratitude have Higashi-Matsushima asked the Crown Prince to present the Crown Prince the first rice harvested in Higashi-Matsushima since 11 March 2011."

what a special connection :flowers:
as we know, Frederik was the first royal to visit after the disaster
Kronprinsen på besøg i Japan - 14. juni - Kongehuset
and this has not been forgotten by Japan. Just this year on Frederik's and Mary's official visit to Japan, it was remembered and Frederik and Denmark were thanked again .

and article on this very special gesture to Frederik

"In this situation, it is a "valuable encouragement to local farmers", the Danish Crown Prince has accepted to receive a sack of rice to his household as a gift from the municipality, says Shinji Sato, head of the agriculture department at City Hall ."

Crown Prince Frederik and Queen Margrethe participated this morning in the Council of State at Christiansborg Palace.

State Council is held usually on Wednesday mornings. The State Minister and the ministers attend the Council of State in which the Heir and the Monarch takes seats.

Today, Crown Prince Frederik also received a gift from the 2011 earthquake and tsunami affected area Higashi Matsushima in Japan. Frederik VIII's Palace, Amalienborg:

Frederik was the first royal to show his support to Japan after the disaster in 2011.

BB article and picture (sure kongehuset.dk will publish more pictures as well)

To my surprise - a good one - TV2 news tonight brough had a clip from Frederik receive the gift from Japan toda in Frederik 8's Palace and spoke with Frederik afterwards. It's IMO a new more open - and great way than we have seen before from the DRF. F&M nice and quietly modernize the royal house and adapts it their young generation. We also see it with the Mary Foundation having their own Facebook site.

Maybe TV2 put up the clip on their website later tonight.

:previous:

As Muhler kindly pointed out to me, I'm getting old too

And I of course mean Japan - not Vietnam.

:previous:lol , it happens to us all.

What a great gesture between the two countries. Lovely to see that Frederik's trip was received and still remembered. In time of need is when you see a person's true self. (of course not only by Frederik but by the Danish red cross)

Yes, but unfortunately they didn't make it clear exactly why Frederik was singled out for this honor.
- That he was the very first royal at all, including the Japanese Imperial family, who went to the area. And that he went there while it was still uncertain how high the radiation level really was.

:previous: thank you for the link. Its wonderful.
A very nice home. A beautiful gift, Frederik looks very happy to receive it. He looks great.
Nice video from 2011 too. Frederik with kids : )

DRF has surprised us with lots of great photos

Do you think the rice will be used or saved as a gift?

:previous: Curling must be considered the weirdest sport ever invented by mankind! :p

I mean, what kind of weed do you have to smoke in order to come up with this suggestion:
Let's attach a handle to a stone and slide it across ice in order to hit other stones. And just to make sure we don't fall asleep from boredom, let us each get a broom and sweep the ice.

And people who enjoy watching curling, must people who use Valium as a stimulant!

And people who enjoy watching curling, must people who use Valium as a stimulant!

I used to think so too...;)

I couldn't understand why my husband sat up, late at night, watching curling during the Olympics in Italy years ago (our team was starting to do surprisingly well). I found myself watching too, and believe it or not, it was sooo exciting. And without Valium...I can't deny some white wine or several beer. :p

Well, a silver medal was the outcome and I'm still the secretary of a local "curling club", a club that never had any meetings.
I think many people in my country had a very different view of curling after those games.

We used to go curling when I was a teenager and it's fun!

:previous:Im not going to lie, I have also found myself watching curling. especially during the Olympics. maybe its the spirit of the games but you can get wrapped in ;)

what a wonderful attitude and smile from Frederik. So handsome

whether its taling with delegates or at a sports event, Frederik shows a positive attitude

" - In Esbjerg Municipality, we are very proud that Crown Prince Frederik again showing interest in a major sporting event that we host. We prioritize elite sport high, and the energy that is in sports, well suited to the mood and the development of our city, told Esbjerg Municipality's Mayor, Johnny Søtrup before the official opening."

note from the DRF website
European Curling Championships 2015 - Kongehuset
"At the opening ceremony involved the Crown Prince in the parade and put the first ceremonial stone. Then the Crown Prince attend a short meeting with the Danish men's and women team.
Later in the day the Crown Prince attend the opening matches in Esbjerg Skøjtehal."

But I shall restrain myself and not say anything about curling-dads.

Nor shall I say anything about flying home afterwards. :brush::witch::innocent:

So why the post? A post to announce ...not going to comment?...

:previous: It's banter. :)

I believe banter and the odd joke is essential in keeping a forum inviting and to maintain a civil tone between the members.
People who chuckle don't fight.

Kronprinsen skal se dem hoppe | TV 2 Fyn

"- In Odense, we are very pleased that Crown Prince Frederik show interest in our hosting of the World Cup trampoline. We are investing in major international sports events, which we can use as a springboard to talk about Fyn and the transformation of Odense into a modern city, we have launched, says Odense Mayor Anker Boye (S)."

"- It is important for us that the Crown Prince shows its recognition of our sport and the great work that lies in arranging an international championship, "said the chairman of GymDanmark, Flemming Knudsen, who hopes that many will follow Kronprinsens example and come visit the arena."
:flowers:

Just wondering, do females curl also? :):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Forgive my utter ignorance, trampoline I understand - and I guess you can call it a sport.
But tumbling and DMT? What on earth is that? :ermm:
And there is a team-finals for men in double-mini?!?

Are anyone outside Uggerbøl seniors and Plumwater United doing such activities?

We learned on the main news at 19.00 that Frederik is on the job tonight.

Today the boss for Tour de France visited Copenhagen to be presented for a Danish plan for the tour to start in Copenhagen at some point within the next few years.
As a part of that visit (and presentation) the tour-boss (can't remember his name off hand) has been invited to dinner tonight at Marienborg, the official residence of the PM. And at that dinner is also Frederik, who as we know has a big interest in sports.

Thanks Muhler,
I was just about to log in to post the same after watching the news tonight.

Again, I do not understand why it isn't written in the calendar.

:previous: Perhaps he was invited to add some extra weight to the arguments?

Absolutely. The Swedish womens curling team won olympic gold 2006 and 2010 and silver 2014.

Thank you Grevinnan, that is very good to know as I like all women to participate in sports like their male counterparts do. I never heard of curling before, so this is new to me. Forgive my ignorance, it is good to learn something each day. :flowers:

Good to read. And I do hope they put it on his calendar .

I remember a year ago, at a marathon that took place in Copenhagen the organizers thanked Frederik for his help in organizing and his role in getting Copenhagen to be the hosts.
It was the marathon where the previous Danish primer minister Helle, and Frederik started the race.

With more time I'll look for the article where they mention Frederik's work in bringing this race to Denmark . It's in a thread somewhere here
I'm sure he is very knowledgeable and it would be huge if the tour de France can start in Denmark
not surprised frederik is present, the sports people are highly happy with Frederik's support and work
