Today Frederik went to Møns Klint (*) to celebrate the 1oth anniversary of the GEOCenter there. The purpose is to educate the public about the geological phenomenon and geology in particular.
The weather is still nice, so Frederik went on bike.

(*) Møns Klint is a smaller version of the of White Cliffs of Dover. Apart from being beautiful it's also a favorite among geologists: http://www.visitmoensklint.dk/sites...klint-naturvidunder-danmark.jpg?itok=W27e9xU_

Starting today Frederik is regent until June 11. Today there was a State Council. We usually do not get pictures of the State Council but today there is a photo of Frederik arriving to Christiansborg Slot

Busy days for CP Frederik. Host at the Japan visit and his own official events pushed in between.

Thanks for all the pictures, links and articles Polyesco and Iceflower :flowers:

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #25, 2017.
Written by Ulrik Ulriksen.

As you know Frederik attended the 60th anniversary of the Frogman Corps. He was himself a Frogman from 1995.

The Frogman Corps is under the navy, even though the command is directly under the Defense Command. And as you can tell from the photo with Frederik with his hands in the pockets, that is very much evident!
That is so typical of the navy. They are basically maritime hobos.
In contrast you'll never see anyone from the army with his hands in his pockets.

And there is a little but common misunderstanding in the article. Frederik's nick name was indeed Pingo, but not after this cartoon character:
http://www.billedbladet.dk/sites/billedbladet.dk/files/media/article/rasmus_klump_2.jpg

Instead he was named after another penguin, named Pingu (in DK often translated to Pingo, just to confuse everybody).
He got the name after he went diving in a wet suit. Unfortunately the suits leaked and his legs ended up full of water, so when he got back on land, he couldn't walk properly, and with his flippers he walked just like this beloved penguin here:

Thanks, Eya. :flowers:

He sure has gone under the radar, because that's the first I hear about this.

Se&Hør writes that Frederik, as former Frogman, in the evening were invited to a private party of Frogmen Corps. And Frederik took his Mary with him by his side.

Hopefully we get pictures. :flowers:

Dang, is he for real? What a magnificent man he is and how handsome also. He sets such a great example for men today to get up and move and keep moving. His wife is one very lucky lady indeed...;)

Another must see during this summer.

Blåvand is located not far from the town of Esbjerg and as such only a hour or so away from Gråsten, so perhaps he'll bring Christian during the summer?
Unless Bella has inherited her farmor's history-gene I don't think a bunker is that interesting to her.

Thank you, Iceflower. :flowers:

Yes, there are lots of such bunkers dotted along the entire west coast of Jutland.
They are almost indestructible! Some have over time been more or less claimed by the sea, other have been covered by sand, but a lot are still there and people go inside to have a look, except for those that are closed off because they are too dangerous.
The Germans constructed their bunkers from ready made plans based on their function, so they vary in shape and sizes from small pill-boxes to huge artillery emplacements. Often using battleship guns, hence the Tirpitz bunker complex.
The Tirpitz complex was there to protect the harbor of Esbjerg which is the only Danish harbor big enough to accommodate large ships along the entire west coast of Jutland, so the town was a vital place to protect.
There is a similar heavy artillery emplacement way up north in Jutland which together with a similar emplacement in Norway was supposed to dominate the entrance to the Baltic sea.
The entire west coast of Jutland is very well suited for an amphibious landing, but for reasons I could use a similar long post on, that was not a serious consideration by the Allies during WWII.

The bunkers were mainly build by Danish contractors, and even though it was claimed, certainly after the war, that the workers sabotaged the construction, that I'm afraid is more like wishful thinking... They are very well build! The Germans weren't stupid, of course they checked the quality.
On the other hand the Allies knew the location of every single bunker, minefield and even barbed wire fence.

But the bunkers are today a part of the scenery and those who have ended up in the sea are very much appreciated as a nesting ground for sea gulls and clams.

Some have been turned into artworks:

In many of them you can go inside, but watch out for scratches, they can easily become infected. And don't expect any reimbursement. If you go inside a bunker, the responsibility is yours.

Ironically the West Coast is crawling with German tourists, so some of the people you see in these pics are very well Germans:

This is one of the battleship guns, which were to be placed in Northern Jutland:

And this is where it was supposed to have been placed:

You can find entrances to bunkers in the weirdest places. In fact some summer cottages come with a bunker:

Eventually the sea will claim the bunkers:

Or the sand:
