While wife and children were to EuroVision Contest in Copenhagen, Frederik participated in a Danish Army Sports Tournament in Oksbøl on the occasion of the
Danish Army's 400-year anniversary. CP Frederik is patron for the anniversary:

Thanks, Roskilde. :flowers:

Four out of five hits with a .22 at 200 meters ain't bad. Not after a run and cosidering he doesn't shoot on a regular basis anymore.

Oksbøl is the largest training ground for the army in DK and I think I know every pool of mud in that area! NCO's took an almost sadistic pleasure in ordering us to take cover in every possible pool of water there!

My, my, my, my, my. Mmm! That really is one good looking man! You have just got to love a man in uniform. (why aren't there any drooling smilies?)

You have to hand it to him, he is as fit as a buck rat and a silver fox to boot.

He certainly isn't your average "smile and hand out the prizes" sort of CP. He really knows how to get down and dirty. And, as a walking, talking advertisement for healthy living, he would be hard to beat. Lucky Denmark!

And that's (IMO) one of Frederik's greatest strength. Yep, Frederik handing out prizes with a smile, especially after marrying Mary he has flourished at such events. Yep, a black suit definitely suits him. But we all know that behind that black suit an action man hides, that man who feels he makes a real difference for people when he can be out among them, running in the mud with them, feel them, see them.

Perhaps some of you ladies should contact Hello and the other international royal magazines and suggest they introduce a royal (male) centerfold.

A kind of royal pet of the month. ;)

100% agree.
I love that Frederik is making this role his own and being himself.
Its perfect for this event, military and action :flowers:

Has there been any commentary on the logo for the anniversary? It looks a little photoshopped?

Mmmm, but they'd have to have a IQ and field test as well. I mean, we wouldn't just want Royal Himbos!

In the video
does he talk about the pic of his grandpa?

He does indeed.

He talks about a tattoo Frederik IX got on his arm.

Frederik told his wife, Queen Ingrid, that he would pop into town a couple of hours. And when he returned he had a big new tattoo and Queen Ingrid went "What"?!?

:previous: Thanks, Roskilde.

It seems the one behind the exhibition has really done his homework regarding FrederikIX's tattoos!
He had only two tattoo artists, one in London, who made must of them, actually at the same time.
And one back in DK.

I could hear this better, and it was QMII who had told the story about her dad around 1950 or so, who said he would pop out for a couple for a couple of hours and when he returned he had another tattoo. And Queen Ingrid went: "Oh, no".
Frederik emphasize how his farfar (paternal grandfather) was a fully fledged sailor (and proud of it). - And sailors must have tattoos.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #20, 2014.
Written by our sports reporter the Ulrik Ulriksen.

As you may recall Frederik was in the town of Korsør recently for the annual School Olympics and here he did what he does best. Interacting with people and not least children.

Instead of watching the children run around, Frederik donned a jogging suit and took active part in the event. Starting by leading the warm up, guaranteeing that the pulse was up and running when the children were to start the various disciplines.
Strolling around among the various disciplines Frederik cheered loudly and offered high fives to those who did well and while doing that he was surronded by a cloud of children, eager to personally say hello to him and have a selfie taken with Frederik.

Before leaving he talked to the press and said: "I've always thought it was fun to be in company with youths and children, and in particular when it's in connection with physical activities like sport. They are happy and to me it is inspirering to meet the children here in Korsør. It's been a huge experience for me to take part in the School Olympics for the fifth year in a row. I simply become so glad seeing happy children. And then I've actually spotted talents who may be take part in the Olympics in the future".

As for his own time at school he said: "I wasn't so good at running fast, so sprinting wasn't really me. On the other hand I liked throwing and for example I had fun with javelin throwing and I got good results in that.
I haven't run the 100 meters for many years and that wasn't my strongest point, so I've opted to forget about my time on the classical sprinting distance. It wasn't impressive".

He also talked about his children: "Prince Christian is very much into football/soccer. Isabella is also fond of physical activities. She doesn't play soccer, but she does dart around.
Recently we brought the children to run orienteering and that was a success. My daughter was very fond of it and she and her older brother enjoyed the run in the forest.
The orienteering event is a good way to drag the children away from Xbox and iPad".

BB is doing quite a lot of catching up this week, and I'll deal with it over the next couple of days.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #21, 2014.
Written by our man in the field Ken Richter.

This year the army is celebrating it's 400th anniversary and on that occassion half the army, litterally, some 7.000 soldiers and quite a number of relatives as well, were gathered at the training ground Oksbøl. That involved a lot competitions and activities ending with an open air concert in the evening.

Frederik flew in and among the many people he strolled about chatting with were local schoolchildren and children from a nearby kindergarten that came to see what all this commotion was about.
Frederik was asked a lot of questions: Does he live in a castle? And they also told that Mary looks neat. That pleased Frederik and he responded: "She's like you, because there is a princess in all girls".

After that little chat Frederik went to take part in the military competitions. Among them was throwing dumb handgrenades at 50 meters, where Frederik scored three bullseyes out of five, which put him in the lead. (*)

Then it was off the the military biathlon, first an orienteering ending with five shots fired from a prone position, then another two kilometres orienteering with additional five shots fired from a standing position. Frederik aimed well, but had five misses altogether, which cost him an ekstra 5x200 meters on the run. Nevertheless he finished in 56 minutes and had time to admire the view, because when the run was over he said: "There were a lot of pretty girls to look at".
Beflore flying home Frederik presented prizes and trophys, the overall winning team being from the Royal Lifeguard Regiment.

(*) Not bad actually! You'd be surprised how difficult it is to throw a handgrenade with accuracy at that distance. It's even more difficult to throw a live grenade or just an excersize grenade (which nevertheless can take several fingers off). People have a natural tendency to get rid of the things as fast as possible and that effects accuracy.
And there is not one recruit alive, who after having thrown a grenade has not at least once been brutally pulled behind cover because he has just stood there looking at where the grenade has landed.

(Im not sure if there is a thread on the Crown Prince Frederik fund)

We can always rely on you to keep us informed about Frederik.
He must have felt like a fish in the water, considering his keen interest in modern art.

As for his shoes. Aren't they the standard issue shoes for puplic school teachers?
You know, the general purpose model for male and predominantly male teachers of moderately socialist conviction?

They get those shoes when they graduate as teachers, you know, and they only remove them when the shoes resemble yawning crocodiles. Except when the weather is very hot and the teachers switch to the general purpose sandals, - with socks. Looking appropriately shabby as befits a genuine redwine-socialist.

In case you are wondering, female (and predominantly female, and those inbetween) teachers are issued lilac scarves when they graduate and they never take them off. - Except to occasionally wash the herbal-tea stains away.

We have here a picture of three typical specimens of the species: Puplic School Teacher: http://ildhavet.dk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/bogense_2009_2.jpg

Frederik send out interesting signals with his shoes. :p
