Prince Henrik has commented on Frederik's ironman.

To BB's Annelise Weimann he says: "It was very well done. I'm so proud of him".

It's no secret that the Regent Couple, QMII in particular, are not very technology minded, but they were nevertheless able to follow Frederik that day from their chateau in France: "Thanks to the adjutant we could follow Frederik hour upon hour and we could all the time see what was written about him and how far he had come".

PH also lash out though: "In time one has come to the point where one needs permission from both PET and the police (*) for everything, that's life now. Everybody watches us from sattellites. But we were pleased to follow the achievement of the Crown Prince. Now he has become L'homme de Fer, as we say in French".

(*) PET is actually the police, but I think we know what he means. He may also in a way refer to the DRF internet connection being scrambled. That was mentioned in connection with M&F's home being renovated. And perhaps also the advise they do get from PET. - FET certainly used to have a pretty big monitoring station (SIGINT-station) on the island of Bornholm, keeping an eye on Russia and the Baltic.

The Regent Couple always dine with the LiW and adjutant on duty, also on holidays. As such they tend to develope something close to a friendship. (More on that in the Cayz thread later).

It's sweet that he gave the adjutant credit for being the one responsible to keep track of Frederik! I can just picture them being updated on his race and marveling at the technology! They are a sweet couple.

Yes, it's for the troops abroad.

Inspired by the old song about tying a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree, I believe.
I think it's an American costum we have adopted, am I right?

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #37, 2013.
Børnenes ven - Friend of the children.
Written by our reporter in the wild, Marianne Singer.

Recently it was Nature's Day here in DK, so school children were mobilized and marched off into the woods to get to know the nature and appreciate some fresh air. And on that occasion Frederik showed up as a guest teacher for a class of 4th graders from the town of Vordingborg. They were put through a wood-parkour challenge. (*)
That included swinging across a stream using a hanging rope and to drag yourself up a slope, also using a rope.
That can be quite a challenge for laptop-children, especially when the ground is damp and muddy and the place is full of trees and stuff...
But the children braved the challenges spurded on by the presence of Frederik, who calmly encouraged and praised the children.
As the last man Frederik lept across the stream and then on to the slope.
Having send the children up the soggy slope, Frederik untroubled made his way up too, using one hand. - So he was a pretty cool Crown Prince in the eyes of the children.

Frederik told about this forest-parkour, which is new to him: "...it's both fun to be with the children and to be out in the woods. You only have to ask what they see and what they experience, then you get a new version from every single child.
I use the forest a lot (**) both with and without children. It's fun to take your children along. They discover new things and a new world each time they are out.
A world which we adults are used to and don't reflect on a lot.
...and when we lived at Fredensborg (as children) there was access to an ocean of forests and lakes in Northern Zealand".

(*) For those who are not familiar with parkour: The aim it to get from A to B in as straight a line as possible, overcoming any obstacles on the way and to do it as fast as possible. - So if there is a building between you and point B, you climb over it.

(**) Some 25-30 % of DK is now woodland. In the middle 1600's it was down to around 4 % due to forrestation. Within the past generation the area covered in woodland here in DK has been doubled.
So we have trees all over the place and you can hardly turn around without bumping into one. - A fact that surprise a number of foreignes who perhaps have imagined DK to be if not semi-arctic then at least somewhat barren.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #38, 2013.
Prins vandhund - Prince water hound.
Written by our coastal reporter Ken Richter.

Recently Frederik went to the west coast of Jutland as patron for Kia Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup 2013. Here 32 surfers competed in what is apparantly the best surfs in Northern Europe.
- Allow me to brag...eeh, inform you about Cold Hawaii: This is for real men or real wifemen! This isn't like surfing in the tropics, where you at worst have to worry about bumping into a shark and where you can wear shorts. Ha! That's for chickens.
No, this is the North Sea, where you face and hands become numb within minutes all year round and where the underwater holes can drag you under. (Seriously, it cost the lives of a couple of tourists every year).

Frederik is a novice when it comes to surfing, let alone windsurfing. As such he competed against a bunch of local 8-14 years old surfers - and they knew what they were doing, Frederik didn't...
Frederik acknowledged that fact when he gave up: "When you are no better, don't do it.
It's been 30 years since I tried surfing and I never really got started but I can tell there has been a big developement with the equipment.
It's too late for me to become as good as those out there on the water. But it motivated me a lot and I'd like to pass it on to my children. In my world it's about not putting all eggs in one basket but I'd like to try/challenge myself and keep hanging on for long periods.
I'll require at least two thousand hours in order to surfe like the best. That must wait for my second life". (*)

After having been beaten by the children Frederik went on to watch the actual championships in surfing. Here he again donned a wet suit and mounted a jetski, and that was something Frederik was much more comfortable with!

- Klitmøller, where "Cold Hawaii" is located is about an hour or so from Trend, so perhaps Frederik will go there when the family is on weekends and holidays there. The autumn holiday is coming up.
Because as I know Frederik he will not rest until he is more proficient for the competition next year.

(*) Well, at least he doesn't blame it on the weather, the equipment, the tilt of the Earth and cosmic radiation, like so many athletes are in the habit of. A certain national soccer team shall remain unmentioned here...

Since Frederik has made sport so much an important issue for him, I guess we can put this here under official events: Kronprins Frederik i ny fysisk udfordring - Royale | www.bt.dk
HQ pic of Frederik: http://www.bt.dk/sites/default/files...s-frederik.jpg

Today, the largest mountainbike race in DK took place and along with 2.000 other cyclists Frederik completed the 103 kilometre trek in five hours ten minutes.

Frederik said afterwards: "It's much easier when it's dry and there isn't so much mud but it's still a challenge to see how far you dare put yourself on the edge.
The first time I participated was in the worst weather, but this time the weather has been the best. When you take part for a number of times you develope a rythm with such a weather like this".

(Our news hunters can find more in the local papers).
