Thank you, Polyesco.
BT.dk will follow the ironman all day with emphasis on Frederik, so keep an eye out there.
Frederik is expected to have completed his swim around 08.00, about now actually.
Most take 6-7 hours completing the 180 KM on bicycle.
Most participants average some ten hours in completing an ironman, so if and when Frederik completes it may be around 17.00 or some nine hours from now.
Oh, I had to post this pic for the delight of a couple of members here, eh Polyesco & mls
He made it! The Iron Prince.

One officer in a car. Another placed at the pit stops on the route, where the photographers and onlookers are expected to gather.
As you may have noticed an official ran beside Frederik, so they will also ensure some safety, I imagine.
Perhaps we'll see our PET guy again.
ADDED: TV2 has a video showing Mary seeing off her husband, see link above.
UPDATE: PET follow Frederik on motorbikes. Isabella and Christian were there to see dad off before the swim and to recieve him, when he finished. http://ekstrabladet.dk/flash/kongeli...cle2069768.ece
ANOTHER UPDATE: Keep an eye on bt.dk. The gallery is continously updated and they compare Frederik's time with that of Dennis Knudsen, our Marie's hairdresser, who also takes part in the ironman. Right now Dennis Knudsen is in the lead - but ever heard about the hare and the tortoise?
As a part of the ironman coverage today, TV2 has this clip from Frederik's time in the Frogman Corps. - This was one of the tests he had to pass.
Take a deep breath and watch the clip: TV: Her holder kronprinsen vejret i to minutter under vand - TV 2 Nyhederne
He has to hold his breath for two minutes, then swim 25 meters under water, before being allowed to breathe.
By then he was one of five remaining out of 60 who started and he has one month to go.
An instructor explains that no considerations were made for Frederik as that would affect the respect he would get within the corps and he would likely be injured if he wasn't up to standard.
Towards the end we see Frederik and his mates struggling to turn over a rubber dinghy. It's heavy! - Before this they had to look for the dinghy at the bottom of the fjord for twenty minutes before finding it and bring it to the surface.
I'll leave it to the moderators to decide whether this should be moved to the military career thread.

Crown Prince Takes the Line in Copenhagen
Great stuff! A colleague of mine managed to do the Ironman in 9:51, we all cheered him on because its so much effort you have to put into it. Hat off to ANYONE who tries to master such an event.

He's almost there now.
Well, the event can't complain of lack of interest! A quick glance at the papers tells you that practically every media worth mentioning in DK is following Frederik's progress. The coverage is very positive.
Gotta go, we can trust our seasoned newsdiggers to post the no doubt many more pics, clips and articles to come.

Great achievement! He did 3.8 km swimming in 1:10:16, 180 km biking in 5:25:19 and the marathon in 3:58:47, total 10:45:32 hours. I dont think that this time will get him anywhere near the Hawaii qualification time in his age group but nevertheless, it takes some courage to tackle the Ironman, especially as a CP who could easily 'fail' in front of world cameras. Well done, Frederik.

Frederik gave a short interview to TV2 when he had completed the ironman: Kronprinsen som Ironman: Man skal spise sig selv - TV 2 Nyhederne
The last bit was hard! "During the last ten-twelve kilometres you start to eat of yourself a bit. I'll damned well say I looked a bit down in front of myself and thought about keeping up the good cadance and that was/worked really well".
Frederik was cheered a lot by the onlookers, not least for the last stretch to Christianborg Square and that meant a lot: "There was deafening noise and I really embraced it. It was utterly fantastic. It meant a lot that my family and friends cheered me on, but to get such a big encouragement from the Copenhageners and all the other Danes from all over the country meant unimaginably much".
The decision to take part in a ironman was taken a couple of years ago: "One has to build it up quietly and calmly, but it has been fun to train and now I'm really happy. I'm genuinely glad".
- I noticed two PET officers went straight up to Frederik the moment he passed the finishing line. One of them, in shorts, with an aluminium blanket. I thought he was there to protect Mary and the children, but he was waiting for Frederik.
ADDED: A clip from YouTube mostly of Mary and the children: - Notice Christian and Bella discussing the event towards the end. As far as I can hear, Christian is explaining the route in the lagune to Bella.

Congratulations and well done to Frederik and all the participants in the awe inspiring event! If I was a Dane, I think I would be very proud of my crown prince competing in such a tough competition and completing it!
I can just about manage half an hour cycling and 40 minutes on the cross-trainer in a day and maybe 20 of eating chocolate so I suppose it's kind of a triathlon!!!

I'm so proud of him and I think all Danes are. What Frederik did today was very impressive and admirable (and I'm glad it wasn't me because I would have died midway into it ). Again, I'm very proud to call this man our future King.
