Crown Prince Frederik has agreed to take part in a new venture at DR1 (Chatleen: one of the public service tv-channels). 7 weeks of expedition by dog sledge in the North Eastern part of Greenland is going to be a new tv-series on the Denmark expedition 1906-1907. DR's anchorman Reimer Bo Christensen (Chatleen: the other man pictured) will be one of the main figures (can you say that in English??) in the programmes. The Crown Prince will participate in the last and most northern part of the trip.
Thank you very much for the translation, Chatleen:) I really appreciate it.

Danish Prince Frederik off to the Arctic
December 17, 2004 - 6:14AM

Crown Prince Frederik will indulge his penchant for extreme adventuring when he takes part in an Arctic dog sled expedition in northern Greenland, news reports in Copenhagen said.

In March, the heir to Europe's oldest monarchy will join the last two weeks of a seven-week expedition that will re-enact a similar expedition nearly a century ago.

The trek is being organised by the Danish Broadcasting Corp, which is making a documentary about the event.

Greenland is a semi-independent Danish territory.

The 36-year-old popular prince, married to Australian Princess Mary, is no stranger to the Arctic.

In 2000, he was part of a six-member, 3,500-kilometre dogsled trek through northern Greenland's coldest regions.

The new expedition will follow the 900-kilometre trail that the Denmark Expedition left when it crossed northern Greenland in 1906-07, Danish Broadcasting said.

The 28-member party used dogs sleds as they mapped the region and three people were killed.

"Our mission is not to solve the mystery about the three men's death," producer Soeren Lindbjerg said.

The documentary to be aired in 2006, is "to tell the story of the Denmark Expedition."

Lindbjerg added that Frederik "was very competent when it comes to expeditions in the Arctic."

The Danish court seems to be very good at taking new official pictures of their royal family. Haven't we seen like two new pictures each of Frederik and Mary now in the past month?

Frederik's pictures always look the same to me though, new or not, whereas Mary's pictures look different each time. I guess its the uniform on Frederik that makes his pictures look the same from one to the next, whereas Mary gets to wear different dresses and shirts.

It's in Danish. This is an English forum, but that information is straight from the Danish Royal site. Usually someone is kind enough to translate for us. I wish I could read/speak/understand Danish

Frederik visited a center for research on muscles at Rigshospitalet, the biggest danish hospital. The center has conducted research on the changes in espacially the upperbody that happens when you undertake long trips on skis, for instance over the ice in Greenland.

Thought this was kind of a fun picture ... I guess even princes get "star-struck".

July 6 2005 Frederik takes photographs of George Bush's motorcade as it leaves Fredensborg Palace. The president had spent the night at the Palace and was heading out for a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen.

i miss her too. I've noticed CPF has a gold band on his right hand, is this his wedding ring or another ring, i thought i had seen a wedding band on his left hand. Just curious if anyone noticed also.

In Scandinavia, as far as I can tell, it is a tradition to have engagement rings on the left hand and the wedding rings on the right hand. It has something to do with the left hand being closest to the heart, but the right hand being the hand of fidelity, or something like that.

A lot of couples have the same ring for engagement rings and wedding rings, a simple gold band, which they switch from left to right when getting married.

I wonder if that's the case with Mary and Frederik? If they chose to follow Danish traditions, or go with the more Anglicized ones?

interesting, thanks for the info.
looking back at the event at the beach it looks like he has his wedding band on the left that day. CPM wears hers on the left, what a fun little cultural difference.

I knew that wearing the wedding band on the right hand was a Dutch tradition, but I had no idea it was also scandinavian. Thanks for the info!
