Really? Maybe, but I thought she looked more like Annette Bening! (on second thoughts, maybe not)

But anyway, IMO the CPss looked just so ul tra glamorous!! (only my opinion of course :) ) And the ruby earrings from the ruby parure looks so divine with this dress.

You're right on the three last pictures she looked like Annette Bening. It is not that clear for the earring, I was wondering if she wore ruby earing or the aquamanine one.

I agree she looks like Annette Benning especially in the pics below...

I don't think Mary's ever looked lovelier - her makeup is perfect, earrings beautiful, clothes gorgeous and flattering, and that creamy beautiful complexion! She's come a long way!

One other thing: I think she looks so beautiful because she is so happy, exultant (I think one poster described her on another message board). Alexandra, who I also love and admire, looks sad, her smiles small.

So here's my problem with Mary: does her hairstyle pull her hair to one side? so you have a flow of lovely curls on one side, and pulled tight on the other? If so, I don't like it? Go with one or other, IMO. And isn't the pulled-to-one-side hair very 80's?

Crown Prince Frederik & his Australian-born wife Mary will visit Australia 2005

Princess Mary coming home for a visit

http://www.theage.com.au/news/Break...ome-for-a-visit/2005/01/27/1106415703874.html

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and his Australian-born wife Mary will visit Australia next month.

Their official program begins in Sydney on February 27 and will finish in Crown Princess Mary's home town of Hobart, on March 11.

It will be their first official visit to Australia as a royal couple.

The royal couple will stay in Sydney until March 8 before travelling to Canberra for two nights, with a whistle-stop in Melbourne on March 10 before spending their final night in Hobart.

Prime Minister John Howard announced the visit in a statement.

The royal couple will be greeted in Canberra by Governor-General Michael Jeffrey and his wife, who represented Australia at the couple's wedding in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, last year.

The details of the program were yet to be finalised, but Mr Howard said it would be designed to allow the royal couple to meet as many Australians as possible during their stay, in formal and informal settings.

AdvertisementEvents already pencilled in included celebrations to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, charity fundraisers, Danish community events, a hospital visit, state dinners and formal receptions, Mr Howard said.

Charities to be supported by the royal couple included the Australian Red Cross, the Mental Health Foundation, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, the Cancer Research Foundation and the Save the Children Fund, he said.

"I know that Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will be welcomed on this visit with the warmth for which Australians are renowned," Mr Howard said.

Further details of the program would be released once finalised, he said.

Mary and Frederick set for royal visit

Mary and Frederick set for royal visit
January 27, 2005 - 5:04PM

The Age (Melbourne) - more details! They will be visiting Melbourne!!!

Australians will get a chance to congratulate Crown Princess Mary and her new husband Crown Prince Frederik when the Danish royal couple makes its first official visit next month.

Prince Frederik and his Australian-born wife Mary married in May last year.

The royals' official program begins in Sydney on February 27 and will finish in Princess Mary's home town of Hobart, on March 11.

It will be their first visit to Australia as a married couple.

Born Mary Elizabeth Donaldson, on February 5, 1972, in Hobart, Princess Mary studied commerce and law before heading north to pursue her career.

"Our Mary" - as she is affectionately known in the local press - was a real estate agent when she met her prince at the Slip Inn, in Sydney's CBD, during the 2000 Olympics.

The couple had a fairytale wedding in Copenhagen on May 14, watched by millions around the world.

Details of the visit have been announced in a statement by Prime Minister John Howard.

The royal couple will stay in Sydney until March 8 before travelling to Canberra for two nights, with a whistle stop in Melbourne on March 10 before spending their final night in Hobart.

They will be greeted in Canberra by Governor-General Michael Jeffery and his wife Marlena, who represented Australia at the couple's wedding.

Details of the program were yet to be finalised.

But Mr Howard said it would be designed to allow the royal couple to meet as many Australians as possible during their stay, in formal and informal settings.

Events already pencilled in included celebrations to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, charity fundraisers, Danish community events, a hospital visit, state dinners and formal receptions, Mr Howard said.

"I know that Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will be welcomed on this visit with the warmth for which Australians are renowned," Mr Howard said.

The Danish Club of Melbourne's president Preben Hansen said he hoped to meet the royal couple during their visit.

"This is very exciting. We will do all we can to get them down to the club," Mr Hansen said.

"It's very good for the Danish community."

He said the club had about 400 members, while there were about 1,500 Danish people in Victoria.

Mr Hansen said the couple's story was so romantic.

"It was definitely a fairytale," Mr Hansen said.

"That's the sort of thing you only dream about."

Ues the news of their coming t o Australia has already been posted on another thread about a month ago. But its good news isnt it!

Frederik & Mary will visit New York City next week....they will visit the New York Public Library & the Hans Christian Andersen school in Harlem on February 1st. :)

A mention in the Embassy Row column of the Washington Times:

Coffee and Danish
It might sound like a stereotype, but the Danish Embassy is planning to serve Danish pastries to reporters next week in New York to promote the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hans Christian Andersen.
The legendary storyteller, considered the father of the modern fairy tale, will be the subject of a press conference with Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, who hope to raise interest in the author of "The Little Mermaid," "The Emperor's New Clothes," "The Princess and the Pea" and many other stories that have enchanted children and adults throughout the world.
The event is co-hosted by the New York Public Library, where the press conference begins at 10:30 a.m. next Tuesday, the embassy said yesterday.
As for the Danish pastry, well, the Danes did not invent it — just as the English did not invent the English muffin, nor the French, French fries. Most food writers note that Austrian chefs from Vienna first baked the pastry in Copenhagen in the 19th century.
The Danish call it Vienna bread, while Austrians call it Copenhagen bread. Americans call it Danish.

More pics from yesterday...

An article from Billedbladet, I don't speak Danish, but my guess is, it talks about Mary and her mother. The picture in B&W, posted below, is her mother. Can someone please translate this article and enlighten us, poor souls, who don't know Danish. Thanks

Dybt bevæget Mary: Mit livs store smerte - 26.01.2005

Omtrentligt oversat:)

Deeply moved Mary: "My Life´s greatest agony"

Crown Princess Mary knows all about the suffering that a heart disease can bring. Her own mother died after a heart operation.

"My mother died from a heart disease and I hope that nobody else has to go through what me and my family went through at that time. I have the issue of heart disease close to me because it has touched me so deeply. From my own experience I know the pain and that heart disease is of great importance and clearly, research into heart disease is of great interest to me. Therefore I am please to announce that I will become the protector of the Heart Association."

It is a grave and personal matter that has moved Crown Princess Mary to last week begin to work as protector for the Heart Association after her father-in-law Henrik. That goes to show the strong feelings that Mary has about the issue that she has selected this organization to be the first one that she speaks specifically about in Danish.

Mary looked wonderful in New York but now it's back to a bit of the frumpier style...she doesn't look too put-together at the film premiere.

The filmprimier wasn't a big gallaprimier, atleast not to F & M. You have to take the occasion into account, whwn you judge Mary's dress. F & M both obviosly have decided to dress somewhat casual and relaxed. CP Frederik was about the only one of the men, who didn't wear a tie or a butterfly.

I don't think it matters that they were going "casual and relaxed" - she still looks rather bland. what is it with opaque brown stockings?! mary looked great wearing a pair of jeans to the rock concert in the week before her marriage so she can make even casual look pretty stylish. it's just not a great outfit IMO.
